[Q] How to ROOT (Only) MOTO G 2014 XT 1068? - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
I went through Suhas's thread for unlocking the bootloader and rooting the MOTO G 2014!
Actually, I just want to root my MOTO G (2014) which I came to know can't be done without unlocking bootloader! OK, will do that first but my ques is that is that custom recovery thing necessary to do? TWRP thing?
I mean what do I have to do to only root my phone? Actually, I need any Call Recorder app working in my fone! SO, want to root it so that I can try Call recorder by Skvalex if it works..
SO, pls. help me out that how can I only root the fon? Is that TWRP Recovery necessary?

U can use auto call recorder works without root.
Just in settings change the source to voice call...instead of mic

Flash TWRP Recovery
Download Latest SuperSU
Install using TWRP. Done
Search XDA for more detailed guide or PM me and I'll help

Or,if you donĀ“t want to flash a custom recovery you can just boot in one, flash the superSU and stay on stock recovery:

Pa Cm And LS are unified builds so you can flash them. There are no stock based roms specifically for this variant.
To flash those roms its a tedious process

Can you please guide me in as to how to Root my Moto X (XT-1052) and flash ParanoidAndroid.
Thanks in advance.
Here's a guide to help with the rooting. And to install a ROM, just follow the instructions in the ROM threads.

Yea it works perfect. I am on stock + faux kernel. Works like a charm. Can't live without active display.
Yea latest PA is there. Check in AOSPA thread
Just stick with the stock software so you don't lose any unique Moto features and once rooted install Xposed with the Gravity Box module. Gravity Box module has almost every Rom tweak you can think of built in, you can pick and choose what features you want to use...it's like building your own custom rom.
@DaRkRhiNe are all the indian 16Gb variants of Moto X are XT-1052 ?? Because my friend bought it and wants to root it too. Also if you are a 1052 user, did you receive the 4.4.4 update or are you still stuck on 4.4.2 like me?
@FSRBIKER what Xposed tweaks do you use?
If you want to try a stock based ROM that keeps all Motorola's goodies try Kryptonite. There's a patch for the UK XT1052 retail to get it to work.

Yea 32 gb version was not released in India. And I am still on 4.4.2
Xposed Modules, Gravity Box has most options from Roms built in, Apps Ops for controlling apps permissions, MinMinGuard for ad blocking, I'm experimenting with Intelli3G(on Play Store) right now to switch phone to 2G when screen is off then to LTE or Wifi when the screen is on to save battery. I've used Twisty Switch and XYZToolbox also.

First, make sure you paste the entire thing into notepad, and then erase all spaces so it is one single contiguous string. If it still doesn't work, try a different browser!

It is possible that your carrier has instructed Moto to not release the BL unlock code for their devices. All I can suggest is re-running the get unlock data command, triple-checking it, trying again, and then possibly trying on another computer.
In addition, the Moto website is known to be 'glitchy' sometimes, so you might try tomorrow and it could work immediately.
Sorry, this is all the advice I have for you.
Good Luck
EDIT: Also, you probably already know, but it should ONLY be the data, in one string. Remove the [bootloader] text and only have the data itself.

We dont have carrier locked phones in India.... let me try fetching the code again, and i will compare it with the old key. If nothing else works, i will have to try tomorrow again!

is it true that warranty will be void for ever on rooting moto x xt1052?
If you brick it and are unable to recover the OS, you're gonna be SOL. If your phone encounters a hardware issue, they might honor the warranty.

Plz help regarding rooting

I am planning to root my moto g2 xt1068. But i have a few questions :
1. Will my phone be able to receive OTA updates (including lollipop) after rooting?
2. Will the warranty get permanently void even if i unroot my phone?
-------------------------
Ans
1. NO ( You won't be able to recieve the official ota updates once u have rooted ur smartphone )
2. YES

Thank you very much , i have updated my XT1063 to the latest build and it works flawlessly ,,, less lag ,,, more free RAM
I successfully flashed this to my consumer cellular xt1064. Everything works. The Bluetooth issue has been resolved, multi tasking is better than before. The phone is now recognised as xt1063, but that should not be any issue.

Not that I heard of any.
You first have to unlock the bootloader (offical way from motorola website) and then flash through twrp supersu..
There are one click root apps but they don't support our device (heard on 5.1 it is but anything on 6.0). You can give a shot to Kingroot.
