Hi,
Have a Z3 Compact for less than a week.
Awesome phone, but all of a sudden, any vibration stopped working.
It doesn't vibrate when a phone call is coming in, nor as a feedback to keyboard typing, nor when one switches the phone off, nor for any notification.
I obviously turned vibrate on to do this test.
The diagnostic tool does not trigger a vibration either.
A full factory reset did not fix it...
I am afraid this is a hadrware problem... but I'm asking anyway: any idea guys?

I have a similar problem, see my thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/vibration-randonly-t2953485/
Try giving your phone a shake and see if it comes back to life. I haven't sent my phone to Sony yet, haven't had the time, but in my case it must be a hardware issue
Fix sony Z3 Vibrate not working
Same problem...
When vibration stop to work, you had to shake your device. So, the vibration will work again...
It's an hardware issue: I tried to flash another rom. I tried to root/unroot: it doesn't matter.
I sent my Z3C in warranty, but they didn't solve anything
My vibration stopped working months ago. Every so often it comes back, but it's very faint and doesn't last long. Thought it was just me but it's weird this is an actual problem with the phone.

guys, i just want to share my story on vibrations:
i had similiar issue, have z3 compact and one day realised my vibration stopped working, not even in tests and diagnostics.. tried reseting it and restoring backup. nothing worked. sent it to SONY for repair under warranty. they send it back and say they replaced some mechanical part (no specific info)
i open the phone, it works nicely and vibrates like a kitten. i start restoring my apps and stuff and suddenly see/feel that vibration is not working again (also not working anywhere). this time i factory reset the phone thru android menu (not thru sony companion repair on pc) and the vibration came back.
also when i reset to factory settings via sony's repair app on the phone it still wont work (the vibrations) not even in diagnostics. so may be that one of the apps is seriously feckin up the vibrations that they dont even work in diagnostic tests and have to be formated thru the android native option not some sony stuff.

The Xperia Z vibrator is not working
I got my Xperia Z (white) yesterday from the Sony Store. It was officially available in India from yesterday.
After switching ON the phone for first time, it seemed to vibrate once. After that I charged it a bit (for 40mins), connected it to PC companion and had an update installed (Although firmware version still remained same....so God knows what the update was all about). After that I installed my apps and everything seemed fine. I did not notice the Vibrator issue till the time I put my phone in silent mode today and as a result later realized that I had 15 missed calls since the vibrator had not worked.
I went to the service menu and did service test for all functionalities. Everything apart from the vibrator works correctly.
Can this be a firmware problem owing to the firmware that was installed through PC companion?
Or is it a faulty set itself?
I'll try to reset everything and probably go for a repair through SUS. If it works, I'll report back. Else it is back to the service centre I guess.
Just another question. If I return it to the service center now, I should get a replacement...right?? Or will they repair it instead? Its just been 2 days :'(
Damn I loved the phone so much and within a day I have this issue :'(
Anyone else having a similar problem????
Most people are having issues with the notification led, but not the vibrator. I'm beginning to suspect it's a hardware issue since it doesn't even vibrate once when you power on the phone..

I'm going to the service centre tomorrow.
They are gonna replace it....right? Since it's just 2 days old and clearly a manufacturing defect with my handset??
I really hope they replace it
Having the same problem with mine. Returning tomorrow in hope to get a new one.
*Got mine replaced with a new unit today.DOA.

Hi,
Lately i am experiencing a lot of troubles while typing a message or just unlocking my lockscreen.
The touchscreen respods bad, sometimes it starts moving out of itsselve... Its really annoying to work with the phone like that...
Someone facing the same problems?
Suggestions? Fixes?
Btw. The phone is stock, nothing changed or replaced...
The onling thing i did was removing the shaterproof film (and my Sony logo )
Try repairing it with Sony's PC Companion or Sony's Update Service first.
remember to backup your stuff before proceeding.
Do full wipes.

Did you try to shut the phone down for 30 seconds and restarting it, seems to fix many unusual android issues.
I have noticed sometimes that my phone on the odd occasion does not repsond to screen press.
I am also experiencing the same problem.
Did a factory reset but still the same problem comes occasionally.. any solution ?

I've had this problem only sometimes when charging outside...When u feel that the touch isn't working as it should, put on your earphones and look out for a low buzzing sound..if u hear anything, then unplug the charger from the wall and check in another socket..hopefully the problem in my phone was that current was leaching onto the capacitive screen so if I touch just once,it registers a number of touches..hope this helps u get rid of the problem

That may be the solution to the problem you had but this isnt the problem here , it happens when whether the phone is charging or not and I think themichelanne is having the same problem.
Power off the phone with power+ vol up - wait for 1 vibrate followed by 3 vibrates and leave the phone then wait for 30 second before powering on, solved it for me....no problem in touch till now and i hope it does not come in future.
BTW This phone is really really full of problems.
Also happens to me when using some chargers
I bought my unbranded UK Xperia Z in Expansys, since I live in Portugal they sent a extra charger for the european standard socket. I had this exact same problem with it, the screen was extremely unresponsive and unprecise while charging. Now I use the charger from my old N900 and have no issues. Also, charging from a lower volt/amperage source like a computer I have no problems.
Since the capacitive screen is very sensitive, a low quality AC-DC adapter will generate issues (possibly due to the current/voltage not being 100% stable).

Could be a bad screen protector.

me too
Im also experiencing the same problem. So annoying, especially while texting. Xperia Z's touch not proving to be how it should be.
This happens with this phone for me, and previous android phones. Usually its just the app open not responding to touch events, but my softkeys still work and I can force kill and restart whatever im doing. Sometimes I have to reset. It seems to be happening more frequently since updating to 67, but its not often enough really bother me. using a tool like romtoolbox to increase the amount of touch events android can process seems to improve it somewhat.

Have you found any solutions for this? I have been experiencing this since 4.2.2 update. I don't know what happened. Can you please explain what's wrong and what's happening? Have you got it fixed yet? My screen freezes frequently so I'm unable to use the phone.
I have been experiencing this problem since a long time. But I have found no solutions for it. I took out my screen protector and the freezing thing got to normal but still it freezes sometime, but more when the screen protector is on. I'm pretty sure this problem is caused by the screen or the android farmware. I'm downgrading my OS, please reply to this. Mine is C6602. C6603 doesn't experience any problems like that.
How I fixed my Xperia Z5 touch screen
Hi everyone,
So, my Z5 touch screen was not working at all anymore, I have tried every manipulation recommended on the internet but did not succeed to get it working that way.
Here is what I did to get it fixed eventually:
- Installed sony companion
- Launched the "fix software" program (I don't know the exact name of the program in english)
- Followed the steps (took a while, something like two hours)
Then my phone rebooted, but nothing, still the same issue. Tried taking off the sim card, rebooted and same problem. Then, I put it back in the phone, and for some reason, the touch screen decided to work again. Although, I lost a lot of data in the process, but worth it.
I don't know if it is a general fix, but on my phone it just worked that way. Although, I have noticed that my phone started overheating something like two weeks before the touch screen problem appeared, I assume those two problems are linked in some way. Still did not find any fix for the overheating problem except putting it under cool water or let it cool down for 10 minutes.
I hope I helped with my post, good luck for those who are experiencing this issue.
My Xperia Z started to act weird from two days ago, when it started to vibrate during all the time.
I restarted the phone, discharged the battery and recharged it again but it does not help me at all. It keeps vibrating even when the phone is turned off and it seems that it will never stop.
Did you guys had any similar issue?

And if i understand right, it vibrates too if you shut it down, or only from boot on?

No,not immersed in water.
I now that it seems crazy but the problem started in my pocket when the phone was together with my bio-metric passport for a couple of hours. Maybe it s caused from the chip of the passport?!
I want to share another fact with you:
Always before having this issue when I was pressing the phone from both sides with two fingers close to the menu button it starts vibrating but stops immediately after releasing it. I don't know if it happens to all Xperia Z mobile phones.
Thanks

Doesn't happen on mine.
Maybe you should Send it to a Service Center or go to the shop where you bought it and ask for warranty. Did you Already tried to re-flash Stock Rom using FT?
Try flashing an old 4.1.1 one, it could be the NFC sensor. The downgrade will Also downgrade the NFC software. It may help.
If I should upload mine 4.1.1. ftf, just ask.

no, NFC does not interact with vibrator motor. That two devices is so separated
Sony must replace your phone in any reason. That's definitely sony fault.
Just had the same problem, My sony Z is a repaired one just over a month old. It is Always in a Leather Case. Just 15 min ago the Phone just started vibrating (thought it was a call) non stop. Turned the Phone off but didn't stop. Turned it on again but nothing changed.
meanwhile searched the web for solutions, only thing i could find that it was hardware related.
Since the Phone is little to big for my pocket i thought it could be from flexing the Phone or something like that. So i put it back in it's case, and put it flat on my hand and gave it a firm tap on the back with my other hand. The 2nd try was succesfull and the Phone stopped vibrating.
Checked if normal vibration still works and found no problems.
My experience with the latest Phones is getting worse with every model they (HTC / Sony) release. Feels like the phones suffer more and more from stupid (hardware) problems. Looks like the Urge of releasing a new model every half year is showing its flaws...
Mine vibrating too and getting worse!
The store guy told me it was the cover I had it in. Bollocks. The cover has been off for two weeks and still it vibrates! Seems to be worse if I charge it via a USB charger in my car. Related perhaps? I just tried the suggested holding down of power and volume and it has stopped vibrating. Fingers crossed! Glad I'm not the only one but need a fix
same thing here. my phone is vibrating RIGHT NOW!
my z3 is dual sim model the D6633. only 2 weeks old.
the phone first stop working on the touch screen. phone would not react to any finger. so when its locked, i can use the camera button to wake up and take pictures. still will not respond when i touch it.
then the phone getting warm at top area near the headphone.
so i google it how to turn off z3 with button, so i did, power+ volume
when phone turn back on, no screen. only a black screen with back lighting on. i can tell when i put phone right infront my eye.
then the phone start vibrate!!! none stop vibrate.
at this moment, i CAN turn off the phone with power+ volume but WON'T stop the vibrate.
really need a help, im in US and purchase this Z3 from NEWEGG and it is a DUAL SIM model, can i get warranty in SONY retail store????
GOD! why me
vibration problem
Hello,
I had the same problem.
Sony claims that there products are waterproof.
We as customers like that and want to try it out.
Maybe not in a swimming pool but at least clean it under de faucet.
That should be no problem, it is waterproof right!!!
After a while this vibration problem occur to your device.
Because none of these solutions help to stop this problem I decide to open my Xperia Z2.
My surprise was that I saw very small tracks of water inside!
Then I put it in the hot sun while it was open en the problem disappeared.
My conclusion:
It is NOT waterproof en a small short circuit causes the vibration problem.
Hi
I've noticed an odd problem the last few days, my phone vibrator suddenly stops working. It'll work for a bit and then suddenly stop and then start again without any apparent pattern. I downloaded the Sony Diagnostics app and it fails the vibration test when this happens - the problem is system wide.. The only recent things that I have done with the phone is wash it briefly after using it with dirty hands and changed my sim to go from 3G to 4G. I don't have any other issues with the phone, a restart doesn't always solve the problem
Anyone come across this before?
Edit: fix title
Bump..., it just happened again now
same problem
I have the same issue, but if i turn the mobile in landscape then tap the mic end of the phone whilst running vibrate diagnostic the vibrate comes back intermitently!
Seems like this is a common problem across the Xperia line of devices, there's quite a few threads about other devices with similar problems. Usually giving my phone a shake brings the vibrator back to life for a short while. It's starting to seem like it doesn't work more often than it does
Mine just stopped working today ugh. Let me know if you found a fix for this. Hope it isn't hardware issue
It must be a hardware problem if giving a shake brings it back, it sounds like there's something lose inside although I don't know if that's just how the vibrator is designed to give it space to vibrate or something else. Sony have recommended I send it in for evaluation, gonna be a pain
Giving it a shake does not solve a thing...
Still, instead of sending it to Sony for repair, I got a replacement from Amazon who is shipping the replacement before I return the faulty item...

Same thing happens for me.. I googled it and read a post somewhere and someone said it only stops working when he is typing and shaking the device provides a temporary fix...

any fix guys ??
i have the same problem !
Same thing here, keyboard kills it and shaking (massive shake from up and downwards) brings it back..
All is temporary of course..
Can some one please post updated information? Did you find software fix? Hardware fix helped?
Please note.

Also guys, lets find some common stuff maybe theres something we all did that caused it
For example i have:
1. Rooted
2. Recovery installed
3. Xposed installed
4. Modded dual speakers for calls
Mention if you've got any of these or other things that might be related..

I also have this issue. This issue has been occurring since the first Lollipop update. Never had a problem with KitKat.
My phone is stock with a full wipe install of 5.1.1. However, I did have all my apps reinstalled before the issue occurred. I never tested if this issue occurs with no apps installed as this is my only phone.

Good part is now that it started falling apart for no reason, I might as well unlock it's BL and start messing with it
I have been having the same issue with my xperia z3. Vibration stops working when typing or spamming home and back button at random times . I can't see any pattern to it nor any reasonable explanaition to why this is happening. I have never let water come near my phone, nor have I ever rooted it. A tap on the bottom right corner always fixes the issue until the next time it happens. Has anyone found a permanent fix or what the root of the problem is? I feel reluctant to send my phone for repair as it would definitely take more than two weeks. I am also worried that once they open it for a repair it will never be waterproof again. As I can see, a large number of people are affected. Any solution?
Same problem here with Xperia Z5 Compact, but I also have another problem, because vibration does not work at all on vibration mode.
The phone is new, I have latest android update from Sony.
It is working when the sound is on, I have checked settings, and it says vibration is on.
Hi there, I have same issue with my Brand new Sony xperia E4g, i've bought it only for 1 week. I think this was hardware problem, when shaking my phone, it work, then when i turn it to some another positions, it doesnt work, or sound weird then doesnt work. Over all, it will work if i give a shake, then doesnt work in some specifical positions. Anyone have idea? should I take it to warranty service? Thanks

I just had this problem a 2 weeks ago and today while writing message. 2 weeks ago, it just stopped working - so i rebooted device and it started working again. Today, it stopped working, so i just tapped back of phone, and it was working again. After a while it stopped working again, so i rebooted it and it's working fine for now but i saw a long time ago that sometimes that vibrations are randomly losing, and sometimes, that vibrations just feels and sound "weird". Specially when then phone is turned with screen upside down (that situaton happened to me every time when was laying in bed, on side or on back). I can't send it to support, i dont have any other phone that i can use as my backup phone... Ofc phone is rooted, xposed too, MM installed, and it had meet succesfully without any problem with normal water. Im washing it sometimes under stream of tap water, checking before that every side its closed properly...
Hello,
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact D5803 running sony concept android 6.0.1 software. A few days ago the vibration randomly stopped working. I've looked online and shaking the phone doesn't do anything, not even temporarily. It was working on the marshmallow firmware so I don't think it's a software issue, however I haven't dropped the phone or anything like that, so I don't see how it could be a hardware issue. I sent the phone to Sony for repair in the past for a faulty headphone Jack, and really don't want to have to go through all that again. Does anyone have any insight on what might be wrong? I have tried the diagnostic test, and it's not vibrating. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance
Im having the same issue. I remember i had It some time ago and could it get fixed through flashint the KK fw and relock and unlock the bl again. Now it came with the upgrade 2157 -> 3052
Im not doing any mistakes, so its really annoying to keep the same procedure every and every time. But i couldnt find out by what its caused

i had similiar issue, have z3 compact and one day realised my vibration stopped working, not even in tests and diagnostics.. tried reseting it and restoring backup. nothing worked. sent it to SONY for repair under warranty. they send it back and say they replaced some mechanical part (no specific info)
i open the phone, it works nicely and vibrates like a kitten. i start restoring my apps and stuff and suddenly see/feel that vibration is not working again (also not working anywhere). this time i factory reset the phone thru android menu (not thru sony companion repair on pc) and the vibration came back.
also when i reset to factory settings via sony's repair app on the phone it still wont work (the vibrations) not even in diagnostics. so may be that one of the apps is seriously feckin up the vibrations that they dont even work in diagnostic tests and have to be formated thru the android native option not some sony stuff.
