Anyone else having poor volte coverage? I frequently drop calls 6/10 if they get any sort of length tend to drop....
LTE shows full bars when it happens as well
I won't be using that even when it gets to my city (denver). I already get delayed calls with it off with it on it takes the phone 5 to 10 seconds to connect compared to >5
"fighting as one hand one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares"
Im also getting dropped calls when connected over wifi at home and at work. I'v never had any problems with my internet connection on any other devices, just with my note 4. Sometimes I'll be sitting right next to my router and the phone gives me a pop up message saying I'm getting out of range and call will be dropped... I think i'll just turn off wifi calling on my phone, it gets really annoying having at least half my calls being dropped, especially when I am making work related calls. So far i had the note for a little over a month, and I never had a dropped call when using data. Im in socal.
With Volte on I am getting dropped calls and when dialing sometimes it will take 10 seconds to connect.
,
Yea screw VOLTE. Releasing something that isn't finished is always not good. It will always stay off.
"fighting as one hand one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares"
Same problem here, Im here in houston and the VOLTE handoff to 4G, etc, isnt smooth it drops the call like 99% of the time I dont remember having so much issues with note 3...
South FL reporting in. Both Note3 and Current Note4 have these issues here. So many freaking dead zones and calls drop all the damn time. It's pathetic. Their service has dropped significantly the past few months.

In Seattle (12th man country) and I've also been experiencing dropped calls. Couldn't pinpoint the source of the problem until coming across this thread. I'll try disabling VOLTE to see if it helps.
Edit: is there a way too disable?

In the phone app open settings and turn it off.
I leave it on and have never had an issue here in Colorado Springs (yes, we do have VoLTE here as I call my wife's iphone 6 every day and get the little HD Icon in the voice call)

Hi guys...just got a new Note 4 on T-Mobile...the VoLTE setting is completely missing in settings. Kies says I have the most up to date firmware. Note is rooted...anyway to add that option to the menu???
Attaching 3 screenshots...one not from my phone with setting I need that's missing...the other two from my phone.
You're phone is doing it automatically.
On att and t mobile it's automatic.
---------- Post added at 10:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:31 PM ----------
For AT&T and T-Mobile users, there is no setting you need to apply to your account or any interaction with customer service at all. They upgrade the network equipment to allow VoLTE traffic, and if your phone is capable it works. Not all phones are capable, and some — like the Galaxy Note 3 — need to be on the latest software. It's likely that all future "flagship" models will be VoLTE capable.

Yes I know...that's the problem...it ALWAYS sounds horrible...and everyone on the other end of the "HD" call always complains how bad it sounds...I need to find a way to disable it...but can't find the setting as it's not there. How else can I disable this terrible "feature".

You could always try doing a backup and reflashing in odin back to stock and see if it is there. Could be a glitch on your phone that it did not update that option.
You could also check in titanium backup to see if it is even running on your phone and if it is in the list then freeze it.
I have HD voice with volte set to off. From what I was told it those are 2 different things. If you sound horrible call TMOBILE tech from your phone so they can here it and they will replace it for you

Since you're already rooted anyway I'd recommend flashing a custom rom and seeing if it changes anything:
You'd have developer options, etc then and could change more settings.
Or maybe just doing a clean flash to a custom rom would fix your problem.
If I was physically fixing your phone its what I would try first.
I've said it before. I think stock rooted is a precarious position.
Might want to try flashing back to anj.
The whole stock anj rom or just the modem.
Yea I had dropped calls all the time. Thought it was my friends phone but started to notice it as well with all calls. So I turned it off

Can somebody from the community tell me what's the latest status on enabling our beloved camera to work as phone? I really love the camera but the lack of proper phone use is really frustrating and annoying so am considering selling it.
Apparently there is a expensive workaround with this device called GMATE explained in YT video at 7C9X8CJiedM (sorry can't post links as new users)
How is device working on our camera but our camera can't even dough it has a modem sim card inside? Can you guys hack this beauty or not?
Thanks for answers and help.
If you expect to make it a straight phone, go ahead and sell it. If you just want to make and receive phone calls, do what I did. I activated Google Voice and purchased Talkatone. Funny, when I have my S3 phone and my camera sitting side by side, my camera rings first before my phone. Go figure. And yes, you'll need an AT&T SIM card to make this work. I bought the 3gb plan for $30 a month.

We don't have anything like that in EU or at least in Slovenia that I am aware of.
I was hopping somebody from XDA team is working on a hack to enable our camera for at least UMTS phone calls since the camera have a SIM card option and apparently even a modem. Or is this info wrong?
I really love the camera but I'll have to sell it if there is no one working on this hack. :crying:
You know, this baby produces the most awesome photos. I have a Nikon camera and the Samsung Camera beats it. Didn't realize Google voice wasn't available outside U.S. But Talkatone will work with a SIM card if you purchase.

My 1st phone I bought on day one started with S/N FA has the "NO 3G of Death".
Sprint still has not even given an ETA on replacement (since last Sunday). F that. So I bought another one.
I did buy a Galaxy S5 first at best buy but they were $100.00 more. I caught them just before closing. When I got home my wife asked, oh you bought a Verizon Phone !!
So I returned that and figured if I'm gonna buy and return something why should BestBuy pay the price. I'll let Sprint take that hit.
So I did compare every setting in every ##nnnnn# I could find.
They were EXACTLY the same. Including Signal Strength.
But I noticed this phone is a little different. For one it works, that's always good. Side By Side they do not behave the same. On multiple Towers.
I notice the Power button is way more recessed. I like that. The first one was kind of high.
Second on my first one holes behind the speaker grill on top and bottom look whitish on the right half.
On the new phone they are black (hollow) all the way across.
This phone Serial S/N starts with HT.
Hardware Rev is the same.
I have applied S-OFF, Unlock, Recovery (Captains 2.7.0.7 this time) and running Bad Boys Harman 1.1. But I'm staying on Stock Firmware for now. Stock PRL too.
The Sprint fellow (through chat) that helped me activate the new one, was very good. We tried everything to fix the old one. By activating new one, then going back to old one etc.
It just misbehaved.
Some Sprint people thought it was my account. Nope.
Some Sprint people thought it was my towers. Nope.
It was the phone.
Still not 100% sure if it's hardware or software.
I did back it up with QPST first thing.
I can confirm that this does happen on HT serial numbers as well, waiting for my device which should be there on tuesday
Interesting. I had five OG Evo's, and three Evo Lte's. I remember the certain build of the Evo's having issue's, and trying to avoid those. I have an FA. Runs smooth.

I saw a tear down video that showed spring contacts to connect the antenna's BEFORE I bought it.
When I saw that, I thought, oh sh$t not again. HTC One X (I think that was the model, the model year before M7) was plagued with antenna Issues.
Some DIYers soldered wires to connect the antenna to fix it. I never had an issue. You could squeeze that model to "Temporarily" fix it because it was plastic.
You can't squeeze the M8 to test the Theory.
I was very tempted to take my broken M8 apart and retention the clips. I may still, since the broken one is going to be returned anyway.
You can see it in this Tear Down.

I could be completely wrong that those spring clips are related, but I was concerned BEFORE I bought it.
So I'm concerned too. One day at a time. I still prefer the M8 over S5 (Having never owned a Samsung).
I might have HTC repair my broken M8. Since I have a running phone (at the moment) I have the luxury sending it to them.
I just googled it. In the case of the old HTC One X it was the WIFI Antenna

I came from the galaxy s3, it was a damn solid phone. Never had issues with it. I like sense more than TouchWiz though. I just was in sprint chat again and they told me to go to a different store, and that they advised the store that the device doesn't seem to be working properly. I'll be going there tomorrow to see if I can make any headway. If not, I may end up switching carriers. Not sure yet.

I feel your pain man. Every store I went into I was more upset leaving. With them saying things like we know it's broken, we have shinny new ones here we can't give you.
You have to wait in line for a refurb.
What really got me was I was on the phone getting status on my back order and asking why he can't give me one from the store, you have them in stock.
He said "who told you that, we don't have any". That's the same store I bought the 2nd phone at !!!
I was ready to dump them too. But they are all the same. I have Verizon for FIOS and they are just as slimy and way more expensive.
TMobile seems reasonable but I'm not sure I trust having a GSM phone at my cabin. Most GSM phones get no service up where my Cabin is.
I also have the SERO 500 plan on two lines.
Sprint used to be much better in situations like this. I've never seen anything like this. I think I've been with them for like 15 years. New phone every year.
I think I'll be buying my next phone through BestBuy. But it's tricky with SERO Plan because I don't think BestBuy can activate it.
And I won't be buying another phone on release day. I rarely do.
I have the same plan. Hopefully I have better luck tomorrow. I don't know what carrier I would switch to anyway.
Just so you know you can't go just on the first 2 characters.... That just says where it was made....have to use the next few to determine a time frame... Seen some come out of the same factory and be world's apart.
There's a thread in the One forum going over SNs.....
Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
I'm amazed you still have the SERO plan. I had it then Sprint made me move to a new plan when I got my OG Evo when that came out.

I don't think that Sprint has their network hitting on all cylinders. Upgrading their system to Sprint Spark while releasing flagship phones hasn't been smooth.

The Network has it's issues. But this phone (some instances) has issues of it's own.
Some of you may remember me havin some complaints about my n5 droppin searvice randomly. I was about to get an rma. Im glad i didnt.
I have tried everything to fix it. So last resort is to rma the device.
So, i was waitin in a tmobile store to pay my bill, and i started playin with a display nexus 5. Luckily, the phone was hooked up to their LTE network. So i got an idea and started a download. Low and behold guess what happens. The same EXACT thing my phone does.
And out of all irony the song "I want my money back, I want my money back" is playing in the store.
I dont think an rma is the solution here.

Never ever had this problem. Guess its because of your service provider. In your location the infrastructure of your service provider is propably not as good as you think.
as well as im not having such an issue with tmobile. but im in nyc, and tmobiles network in the area is fairly new and improved.
Hmm... I get a great lte signal all around town. Mostly 43mbps, when it works. I heard the n5 uses some new "low power lte" or somethin. Maybe they have issues with it here?

not really low power lte, but the newer lte radio that the n5 uses does do much better on battery than previous versions of lte.
I'm in Arizona with tmobile and I sometimes have my network drop maybe at least once a day.
No network drops in Vegas...
Definitely it's a N5 issue. I'm in Europe and I have this problem. I remember reading in forums about that when I bought my phone. As long as I was on 4.4.2 I never had a single issue. After updating on 4.4.4 I have network issues few times a day.

its called a network issue for a reason. its an issue with your network, not the device. i didnt have issues on on 44, 441, 442, 443, nor 444. network issues relate to your network.
Well if it is my network, how come when i lose the network, sometimes the phone will also reboot. Dont think thw network would cause that

just as your phone shouldnt be rebooting. so your "network issue" can be related to whatever you are running on your phone. that would be on the personal level, so id check into what i am running. my nexus 5 has never had an issue with rebooting.

Reflash stock firmware, clean. Go a few days without any apps installed. This will show if its phone/network related, or app related.
If it still acts up on fresh install. Try someone elses Sim, preferably on another network. If it's OK... Then you've narrowed it down to your Sim, or again, you're network.
Process of elimination. ?
Same thing happens to me on AT&T. It has happened with 3 separate N5s and doesn't happen with my Moto X. Yeah, it's an N5 problem. The radio in this phone is garbage.

Even the display model with nothing on it did the same exact thing. Maybe its a flawed design, where some phones have this problem, and others dont. Stock. Every N5 I have owned has been stock, and all have had network dropping issues, and all have had difficulty maintaining LTE. No problems with my Moto X, none with my iPhone 5s when I had it, and none with any other LTE phone I've owned while on AT&T. Just the Nexus 5.

i think that you are the one actually not seeing the issue. your phone drops data, you watched the store phone lose data as well. your phone and that other is on the same network. it doesnt sound like a phone issue, it sounds as if its your local network that is having the issue.
It's a radio/network combo issue. I never had drops on the 4.4 radio. Since 4.4.1 and above, i get these network drops on a daily basis.
Go to your battery stats, look for cell standby and check the "time without a signal" percentage. I usually have 10-11% of my uptime.
I got fed up with this crap, so reverted earlier today to the 4.4 radio (1.0.25.0.17). Still too early to make any judgment.
So a few people know that I've been having problems with my Note 4 (documented in different threads, can replicate any day), as it relates to the camera performance under cold temperatures. I've confirmed that it's not happening on neither my friends' AT&T Note 4's, nor an AT&T Note 3. This brought me onto calling Samsung and checking things out with their warranty. I explained my case in great detail - that I live in northeast and every time I leave the phone in temperatures below 40 F (next to an open window, or in my jacket pocket, for instance), upon launching a camera app, I see a very visible purple line going across the screen, which happens in every single camera app that I tried, and does not happen anywhere else. The lady I spoke to said that, apparently, I should not be exposing the phone to extreme temperatures. I asked what the extreme temperature range was - she could not answer and pointed me to the Note 4 warranty page (http://www.samsung.com/us/support/s...d_mdl_cd=SM-N910TZKETMB&prd_mdl_name=SM-N910T, also attached), where in section H) it says that "exposure to weather conditions" would not be covered. I searched the page for words "temperature", "hot", "cold", but could not produce anything at all. The result of the call was that she sent me a UPS label for me to send them the phone. I've since decided that I'm not going to send it in, since it isn't that big of a deal, and I've already invested quiet a bit of time into rooting, installing stuff. Plus, since most ROMs void the warranty, I don't think I'd qualify anyway.
But my question mostly concerns the vague wording in the warranty itself. With all the engineering that went into these devices, wouldn't they know which temperatures affect it? Also, that 'weather conditions' bit - sounds like the moment you take it out of the package, you are exposing it to the weather conditions, be it a hot, sunny summer day, a breezy morning on a pier, or a blistering cold during your favorite blizzard, or, of course, a quiet chilly morning next to your very window.
Considering the battery is intended to be used between -20°C and 60°C (-4°F and 140°F) usually, asking the phone to function correctly at -40° is a bit excessive.
Taking it outside into -40° weather while it was within normal range would be one thing. But to have the phone itself also be -40° is asking a lot.
The phone was not made for those kind of conditions. Just like it is not made to be dunked in water.
Common sense goes a long way.

Ahh sorry. Lol. I know people that do that in -10° weather so... But yeah. I miss read that then.
Mine was working fine(camera) after sitting in a 0 degree garage the other day for 2 hours. Replacement time.
I'd argue the battery deal still. Since that is a fair indicator of expected working conditions.

Do a warranty exchange if you think it's the particular tmobile note 4 you have or t mobile note 4s in general.
It could be just yours. It's not all of them, of course.
They are physically identical to the att ones except for badging.

If you are worried about Knox being tripped. Don't. We have exchanged our fair share of note 4s to tmobile and Samsung at this point. Knox tripped every time.
Result. New phone every time. Just Odin back to stock or flash a stock rom in recovery first.

Factory data reset.
Just exchange.

When you say exchange - are you referring to the Samsung exchange, or T-mobile exchange?
Either or.
It depends on whether you are out of the 14 day period (which you are).
Whether you have insurance or jump.
But I meant either.

Just called T-mobile - lady said that I can go to a T-mobile store, explain the situation and exchange it. She said nothing about a 14-day period; I'm definitely out of it - I've had the phone for roughly 2 months.
Seems like you'll be cool then.
...And, of course, what I was told on the phone was incorrect.
The Tmo store rep said that I need to call 800-937-8997 and have them do a warranty-exchange, which involves 1) them sending me a new phone with a prepaid return label, 2) take the new phone out and put my current phone in there, 3) peel off the label to expose the prepaid return label and 4) send the current phone back to them.
I called the number and was told that, wait for it, the Tmo store clerk was also incorrect; that 1) they will send me a prepaid label, 2) I send the current phone to them, 3) wait 5-10 business days for them to test and repair it if necessary and ship the new replacement back if they do or don't find anything and 4) wait for the returned phone.
Instead I went to the Best Buy (where I bought the phone) to exchange it, who - after hearing the issue - insisted that they do not replace phones, be it under or out of warranty, unless it's covered under their Geek Squad protection plan. After 10 minutes of arguing, the BB rep agreed to take my phone, purchase a new one and have it ship to my address.
To be continued...
Wow. For having tech in your name. You suck at returning phones.

Forgive me if I'm not as talented as you are. I've never returned any of my prior phones.
No worries man. I was having a bad day. You'll get a new one and it'll be great I'm sure.
In general, if I do a complete backup of everything on phone #1, is it wise to restore the same backup on phone #2 if it's a replacement phone (same make and model)?
I used to think you shouldn't, but yeah its just fine.
Go for it.
Got the new phone yesterday, slow and stuttery as **** from the moment it booted. Since I had nothing on it, I wiped everything (Dalvik, system, data, cache, internal storage) - same thing, even after trying 3 different ROMs (Hyperdrive, Fire Kat, Dynamic Kat). The stutter showed in camera the most, followed by file managers, followed by everything else. I returned the phone once again and ordered a new one.
Did you do a factory reset, as well as the wiping?

I still get my ring tones, etc. When I wipe. I think it's fragments

Yes, I did everything 3 times (once for HD, FK, and DK each).
Got the new phone - everything was more or less okay until I restored Dynamic Kat from the SD card. Things started stuttering again, from the setup screen. Tried two other ROMs - same thing. When I flashed the ROMs, I wiped everything clean, including the 'Format Data' option. I am at a complete loss - is there a different stable kernel that I can try?
Does the SM-T719Y have the necessary hardware (properly positioned speaker & microphone) & software (Dialer application) to be used as a phone?
Has no one actually purchased this model?
My 817T has a speaker and mic. I tried for over a month to flash a different regions rom. I got it at one point but lost all connectivity in the process. I finally caved and just started using google voice as a means. The dialer app is disabled on these units. I don't know the same would apply to you for sure.
The sm-t719Y has a dialer for phone calls.

I did not purchase one, since my question went unanswered for more than two weeks and I was not willing to wait longer for a replacement phone. I wound up buying an Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra (the ZU680KL). No 4g in my area, but is otherwise a perfect device for my needs.

Thanks for replying appreciate it, shame I wasnt on board at that time as you were when buying. I am buying now, still researching, its a minefield out there LOL. Its a toss up between the smaller SM-t719 and larger 819 version, either the Y or international version with phone diallers will do for me. Prefer Y as its got the added AWS UMTS band ,a lthough moot since its been refarmed where I live. I think the smaller 8 " would handle better , not that id be pocketing it mind LOL.
There's one being sold as a bad esn on eBay currently. Be warned the sellers couldn't verify the model number as an sm-t719y for me when made contact , in fact after a few emails he removed my bids.
We all know a bad esn international means **** here in USA so nondoubt it's not actually a 719

Hello!
I have the Gold Galaxy Tab S2 T719Y as well. From what I understand, this model was originally exclusive overseas (Korea I believe..?) and somehow was shuffled to the US. Mine in particular has a foreign wall adapter in which I have to plug into a separate adapter to charge here in the US.
From time-to-time, companies end up making a flagship version of certain models and keep them exclusive to their native country - I'm under the impression that this is the case for our T719Y devices [I could be wrong so please don't quote me].
Being cost effective, I went into a T-Mobile store (since these are GSM) to initiate service to my device. The clerk and store manager were baffled and in aw over my Tab S2 and it's unique qualities such as the dialer app. After messing around with a few different active SIM cards from display phones and tablet in the store, the clerk gave me to option to open a basic 2 Gb data plan for $20/ month (which is what I requested upon arrival) or to attempt to register the device as a phone and receive unlimited text, talk & data for $40/ month.
I purchased this tablet for the sole purpose of operating my drone so I don't really need much data, I just need to power Google Maps a few times a month without the hassle of fumbling with my phone's hot spot. To me that's worth $20/ month, but idk about $40.
I'm anxious to see if anyone successfully makes calls with the dialer app with the T719Y. Please keep me in the loop!!!

I'm using an sm-t819y same device bigger screen with t mobile with no issues. I didn't purchase a separate sim card specifically for this device, I'm using a phone sim card from a spare line.
If you look for some of my previous posts and threads you'll see that i was specifically looking for a tablet that could work for voice and data on T Mobile .The Y model has the added aws umts band 4 that the international doesn't .But none have band 12 LTE, not a deal breaker for me.
The only tablet I had that supported all bands on T Mobile as well as make voice calls via the inbuilt dialer was my previous Sony spg771 , but again a certain customization region model was needed else phone dialer were disabled also.
That device was great but the 16.9 ratio didn't suit my needs. Also the capacitive touch keys don't light when I touch the screen on the Y models. A bit **** when wanting to go back a screen in the dark. They do light up when touched directly though. Seen a few videos of the 819y and there's all like that
