Hello there everyone! The case happened to me today morning and I have no idea what to do. Basically the whole problem happened after I was using the browser, opened 3 windows at the same time , one of them was a video and the other 2 were google images. So the phone couldn't handle all these and the whole screen just froze. I locked up the screen which I still regret because I could have just turned the phone off and thought that locking up the screen would work since this has happened to me numerous times before without having these consequences.
I have tried the Simulated Battery Pull trick but it didn't work no matter which volume button I tried along with the power button. I held both for about 20-30 as written but the phone didn't react. Strange thing is when I charge the phone it's showing that it's charging the battery (yellow light) so the phone isn't completely dead as it seems. I would like your opinion about this and a proper solution cause I don't want to bring it to the service (even though my phone is only 4 months old )
Should I wait till the battery completely drains to zero (which could take 1 or 2 days ) or should I try fixing it myself?
Please help me ! I have no idea what to do :crying:

This all happened because you set LMK to very low value
If you want to reboot your device then press and hold off button located behind back cover

Yes it worked but not thanks to your post but thanks to a youtube video. Anyway what does LMK stands for , can you please tell me about it? Thanks to that "OFF" yellow button the hope returned to me, I was really close to bringing it to service.

LMK stands for Low memory killer. In order to understand this you need to know how android manages ram.
Basically whenever you close an app with back button the app still runs in background.Android does this so as to not to waste free ram available.Whenever you run heavy app the LMK is waked to kill those app running in the background

Thank you. And is it possible to adjust this without rooting the phone? Don't want to lose my warranty for it.
Of course only answer if this isn't meant to be too much off-topic.

3. display goes off when making a call
4. battery last just about a day even though i dont use it much
5. the phone crashes sometimes

Compared to what? It's a mobile phone camera, it's never going to compare to a dedicated digital camera so if your expectations are too high you'll never be satisfied.

I presume you mean after a soft reset? That's normal, the Diamond isn't just a cellphone, it's effectively a computer and computer's take time to boot up, that's just the way of things. I'm not sure why this is an issue for you because you shouldn't really have to soft reset the thing as part of day-to-day usage anyway so the time it takes should be of little consequence.

That's be design, it's so you don't end up activating any of the phone functions while you've got it pressed against your ear to listen to the call. A lot of people do moan about this but I've never really understood why, you can't see the screen when you've got it pressed against the side of your head anyway so why does it matter if the screen switches off? And even if you do need to see the screen, just hit the power button to toggle it back on again, not a big deal surely?

Yeah, the battery is pretty ****e. The only advice I can offer is to switch off power hungry functions you're not using like wi-fi, HSDPA, Bluetooth etc as those will all hit the battery hard.
im not affected by points 1 - 4 as they are pretty minor to me.
Crashes are what seems to be my main problem as everyday there will be at least 2 crashes where my phone ceases to switch back on from sleep mode and gives a black screen till a soft reset.
After which, I will have no reception whatsoever and further resets will cause my phone to unable to find my SIM card. However, the problem persists till I get 1/2 batt, where i will get my reception back for the rest of the day
It gets really intermittent sometimes as in sometimes in the morning or sometimes at night, but never when im at the shop trying to return it
just always at least once or twice a day no matter what.
I have already switched to a new diamond twice as I had different problems with every one, each was extremely critical.
so will flashing a cooked rom help? or a new radio?
I have everything on stock as i have to hard reset it at least once a week.
does anyone have any similar problems? or did i just win the lottery 3 times

Dude:
ALL your questions have been addressed 1000 times.
Step in XDA Devs with respect and start a search before cluttering up the site with same stuff. Search and read like we all did at one point.
Crashes: My jewel probably crashes once a month and that it, that is very understandable.
Anyhow Welcome.
someone help me out too with my diamond problem please?
anyone ?
The search button doesn't bite
Also providing some info regarding ROM and Radio would provide us with more info.

How to stop startup vibration? I detest this feature very much! help!
Im sorry to report I can't really help you with this as im no real genius on the matter but im guessing it may be due to some sort of P.O.S.T response on the device similar to the beep you here on some older pc's and laptop's. If so it may be easier for someone to find the right registry entry to change. Then again I may be talking out of my backside. Good Luck!

Are you talking about vibrate on connection ?
Start> phone> menu>options> advanced> uncheck vibrate device when connection is established.
He's talking about when you turn the device on..
I think he's talking about the vibrate when the phone boots (from a soft or hard reset, or from turning the phone completely off)
why so bother about that vibration?
What's it matter...? He still wants to turn it off....
I'd like to as well..
I means how to stop power-on vibration or hard or soft startup vibration. anyone has already stop the vibration, it's really boring!
i would actually be interested in that as well, i have my phone setup to automatically reset itself every day at 3 in the morning, and the vibration from the reset sometimes wakes me up.
yea, i dun like the vibration either.. But i doesnt make a very big deal though
My phone feels shaking , something loose from vibrating effect.

It is decreasing the battery life time , maybe not much for 1 boot.. but if you boot 20 times in a day.. ( god may know why ) Than it would be handy

the vibrating sure isnt helping the battery life either and i would like to disable this also. 10+ resets a day here and each time it vibrates my wife thinks someone is texting me! lol
Additionally, can anyone help get rid of those red numbers during boot-up?
I know that's an obnoxiously complex task that may be impossible for seemingly little payoff, but consider:
1. They prevent using the entire display for splash images, unless you want it covered up for part of the time,
2. My friend is color-blind, and won't be able to tell if they're red, green, or purple - I don't want him to not be sure,
3. They could attract a bull, if you waved it around accidentally in Madrid,
Etc.
I'm sure you can tell there are no shortage of reasons.
Anyone have any ideas?

i probably flash just about every new rom thats posted in the rom section. that and i've been testing the android builds that get released
All of a sudden the power button on my HTC Opal just refuse to work.
I had this problem a few months ago but it started to work within a day normally.
So right now the only ways i can use my phone is keeping it on without suspending power, plugging into charger every now and then to wake,or using the handsfree,or call my cell from another and wake it...im using Evolution-beta(6.5.3) rom..
I would love to get the power button working again.
Anyone has pics on how to open the Opal???I am even ready to physically open it an clean anything if required

You'd ruin the warranty dude...you stay in Mumbai, there is a htc service center at Borivali West in Thakkar Shopping Centre,S.V.Road. S.G.Infotech is the name and here goes the phone number-02228338063.
Call them and quote the warranty.Better not ruin anything. Before you do so,please flash the stock rom in my signature and do not overclock it as they will realise that u have violated the t&C of warranty.Just trying to save your money. They also have service centre at Andheri.Call and you may know.
thanks shr...but will have to wait for exams to finish to service my phone.
In the meantime you could use the following registry tweak to turn on your phone using any button (not just the power button):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
set the "defaultkeylock" value to 0, and soft reset. You'll be able to wake your device up with any button (the D-Pad and the Answer/End buttons).
To lock your device in your pocket use S2U2 or the default Windows Mobile lock. I prefer S2U2 because you can set it to turn off your phone in 5 seconds, so if the phone wakes up accidentally in your pocket you won't waste your battery power.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Tooo bad this dosen't work for me.
Well, it works for me, and I'm using the same ROM (Evo Ultimate Beta)!
Why it doesn't work for you? Are you using any other lock programs? Did you soft-reset after the tweak?

It works only if i press any key within a certain time.
I guess my power button is always internally pressed because I get the warning about saving data even just after resets.

Thanks, like I've said in the title - you saved my Viva!
@Falcon_16
I was having the same problem. Phone still under warranty so... I hoped it will be repaired (a dirty contact I've presumed).
Nope! It wasn't the switch fault. It was a corroded ribbon connector on the MB. Not serviceable, the only choice being a MB replacement, not under warranty hence there are corrosion signs. That meaning over 150 USD...
So, thanks again GFX for the advice, the phone seems now still usable.
(meantime I've bought a Wildfire...)

On 3/6/2013,once again my hp screen shut off & cannot ON even I've press power button like usual to wake up the screen, this is 3rd time it's happened on 25/5&27/5.
I made a reset by pressing power button+vol then phone able to switch ON.
I didn't install any harm apps that not from market

Kindly need advise,thank you
The battery gap is because of the reset. What rom/kernel/mods are you using?

It's just the battery calibrating. That's why you lost that huge amount. (No clue why the phone restarted though)

I quoted nothing.
It's quite simple, I had this with any other phone, the battery is being read by a sensor, sometimes the sensor receives incorrect info from the battery, that's the simple reason.
Only thing you can do is restart your phone once a while to recalibrate.
Hi,
First of all, Sorry for Bad English, Bear with me.
Long Story, Short!
It keeps happening!
It would turn off, won't reboot
Won't take charging
I will leave it for a while
If I leave it off after when I am tired trying to turn it on, a few hours later It will be WARM like it was being used, Then I would plugin again and THIS TIME IT WOULD TAKE CHARGE and EVEN REBOOT!!
After when I am using it for a while (10-12min) GOES BACK TO POINT 1
I ERASE EVERYTHING, FACTORY RESET IT, and This time.. IT would work for more than 10-12min,
I will install apps, login into the account, and then again... The same thing would start to happen! !
What Really Happen? Day ZERO!
I bought this Red Magic 3 phone 3 months ago and it was working super awesome and everything was great until last week after a 30-40 min gaming session on this phone, I went back to sleep and kept the phone on the table.
The next morning I noticed that the mobile is turned off, I thought Maybe battery drained so I plugged in to charge and continued with my morning routine.
After an hour I noticed that mobile is still not charging I tried plugging in and out multiple times and it didn't start charging, I checked the Data Cable on my MI MAX 2 (that also supports Type C) and Cable and Adapter were working fine.
I immediately realized that SOMETHING IS WRONG!!!
I saw some youtube video and I tried that Vol Key + Power Key thing and that Bios look alike menu opened up, I can see all the reboot, recovery boot, etc option but nothing worked.
So I picked the WIPE DATA option and It worked, Formatted the Phone and IT REBOOTED.
I figured maybe some software issue was causing it.
BUT SINCE THAT DAY it keeps happening!
It would turn off, won't reboot
Won't take charge when I plugin
I will leave it for a while
a few hours later It will be WARM like it was being used, Then I would plug in again and THIS TIME IT WOULD TAKE CHARGE and EVEN REBOOT!!
After when I am using it for a while (10-12min) GOES BACK TO POINT 1
Service Center
They are no help! They don't know what is wrong with it, Even they formatted it in front of me they did the Factory RESET it, I tried using it in Front of them for a while and the SAME THING HAPPENED!
then they installed some updates using some official package.
But still,
IT would work for more than 10-12min,
I will install apps, login in the account
suddenly... The same thing would start happening again!
Their Resolution is :
Motherboard issue and I will have to get the motherboard replaced.
This simply means EVEN THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT and CHANGING EVERYTHING is their SOLUTION!
and they said it won't be covered on the warranty! Because the warranty has been voided BECAUSE THERE IS A SMALL CHIP on the phone! -_- which happens to be 40-50 days old.
I know is their Excuse to get money from me! Now I don't know what to do with it.
For me it was my first expensive mobile. I never bought a mobile for more than 200$.
Same thing for me.

What's your battery health at, voltage, and how many ma draw when just sitting in that app.
I've learned my lesson with this company. A couple of extra capacitative buttons and a large battery are not a reason to buy a phone. The build quality is ok, the software abysmal (I still get random **** getting pressed when I unlock the phone), and support horrendous. Do yourself a favor, threaten to speak with the governing authority in your country regarding warranties. Tell them a small crack on the screen is not indicative of internal damage. Tell them you will post a youtube review of the company and phone if they do not abide by their warranty and fix your phone.
Once you fix your phone, sell it and cut your losses.
When will people learn YouTube won't do anything. You need subscribers to have any kind of weight. I'm at 2.4m lol.
I don't know the warranty laws in your country. I know here they have to prove that what you did was the cause. Nubia is really shady and not only scams but will flat out lie all the time. I seen people had bad battery's and they say they need a replacement board.
Just let me know what I asked and we can start going in a little deeper. Start off with the basics then move into some other stuff. Could be a simple easy fix.

I got the Battery Replaced thinking it was the issue but right after the installation. I turned it on to use it and it didn't work... I am still facing the same issue.. Meaning Battery was fine.. there is something else that causing it to turn off like this..!
Still, it acts like in COMA, then it heats up, I will charge it, It will boot.. If I will try using it ..it will turn off and won't turn back on!
