Although my problem seems very simple but i can't find a solution through my phone settings. Whenever i press a key on my Z1 keyboard it pops-up on the screen. I searched in my keyboard settings for something to disable this but unfortunately i couldn't find any. I really like the interface and simplicity of the stock Z1 keyboard but this thing is making me really frustrated specially during chatting or sending a quick email. So is there an option to disable this that i couldn't find?
Thanks in advance.

First of all, I HAVE googled through this site looking for a solution to my "problem", and I haven't found it.
My problem is with the H/W keyboard layout- specifically the two "soft buttons" at the top. I keep hitting them when typing the R, T, I or O keys, and when I am in the middle of typing emails, it sends my email- and that is NOT what I really wanted to happen.
So the fix would be for the O/S (WM6.1 ATT ROM in my case) to ignore the softkeys on the keyboard all the time. I can live with that, as long as the front buttons are not disabled at the same time. Is there a way I can do that through the registry?
i have a touch pro (sorry if this doesn't belong here, but i assumed that they were basically the same) and whenever i go anywhere that has text input, the on-screen keyboard pops up and fills most of the screen, even when I have the inbuilt keyboard popped out.
Is there any way I can get it to stay hidden until I press the show/hide button?
There's a setting in Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool that fixes this.
Unfortunately it doesn't work in Opera due to Opera's bad handling of the keyboard. If you have problems with the SIP popping up in opera in landscape, install nullkb and look for an application that allows you to set different SIPs in portrait and landscape.
Cheers for the quick reply, I'll give these a go.
Hi all
Really loving my HTC One. I like the keyboard and dont want to change it, but it has one annoyance.
The keys on the keyboard popup when pressed and I cant find the option to turn this off. Does anything one if this can be turned off?
Thanks,
Adam
Just use a 3rd party keyboard cause AFAIK there's no way you can remove that unless you mod the keyboard apk. which requires root and a developer interested on what you want.
Hi, does anyone know how to remove the hardware keyboard shortcuts? For example, when I push I and E on the keyboard at the same time when typing it opens up the Phone dialler program.
I'm on Cyanogenmod 10 if that makes any difference. I have had a look in settings and can't see anything obvious.
Thanks
The settings for the shortcuts are under accessibility. I went through and removed them all because I had the same problem.
Thanks, looks like that is not an option in Accessibility for Cyanogenmod so I'll raise it with them.

Click to collapse
Swype cant be turned off, I tried too, but couldn't find anything. You can disable suggestions by holding the Swype button in the bottom left corner of the keyboard and selecting options, in that menu there are the prediction options
in settings there is "next word prediction" and its off. But we still see words prediction above keyboard... Ill try some aosp keyboard, any advice?
I had the same problem. in the end i downloaded a AOSP like you mentioned and I no longer see predictive words!! yahooooooo
I and unsure why huawei made the phone like this. Other than that its an awesome phone
Why do you say you cant remove the Swype option? I chosc gboard and the swipe button/icon dissapeared. Anyway I now have this prediction issue. Really a pain in the neck. What to do? AOSP? What is it?
