[Q] Weird lollipop camera bug, anyone else? - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just updated to Lollipop and wanted to snap a photo.
So I twist the phone and the camera launches.
I take a picture and want to view it, but it takes me back to the lockscreen.
Should I do a factory reset?
I don't have a secure lockscreen.

I have the same issue factory reset will not change it. There are other threads with this issue.

I guess we have to wait for an update than.

It is working as intended, most likely; else firing up the camera would simply unlock the device after taking a picture and exiting it. I can see safety issues there.

Yes, I believe that's a security "feature" to keep unwanteds from viewing your photos.

Not a bug. Was same on the 2013 moto x

Camera App is not Full Screen

My Camera App stopped working in Full Screen and now I get a black bar on the top and to the right of the app. There is also now a small camera icon with a number beside it in the top block bar. Anyone else seen this issue? Did a Factory Reset and it did not resolve. Thanks
Solved this issue by doing a return to stock. Now to see if it comes back when I re-Root.
You sure you're not just using it in the full 13mp mode? That should be happening if you're using the camera at full resolution.

It didn't matter the mode or if I did a factory reset. The 13mp mode looked different than the issue I was having. The only thing I think it might have been was changing my dpi settings, but don't want to try it again. A stock restore fixed it and then I rooted it again.
Ignore the my comment about the number counter

It was definitely the dpi. I had the same thing happen to me. The bars get smaller with the increase of the dpi but 320 and up seems to be the only way to get rid of it.

Next time just mention you had changed the DPI. Without knowing what you did, its tough for people to accurately tell you what you messed up

Use xposed module called App Settings. Lets u set different DPI for any app. Thats what i have running, and my camera looks normal...

Weird "minimizing" problem.

I've been getting this more and more lately. The app I'm using will do a "minimize" animation to the top of the screen, then come back. Sometime it will be just once, other times it will happen several times in a row. This happens when in my hand or in my car holder, seemingly at any time.
Has anyone had this happen?

I posted a similar issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/unknown-app-flashing-toggling-wifi-t2672301
I believe it's related to wifi switching on and off, but have not found what app is causing the screen to flash.
I think it may be related to the OTA waiting to install, as it started happening around that time, but I'm not sure.
Yes! I had the minimizing problem also--it went away as soon as I disabled/froze the OTA app. It was horribly annoying! So glad that fixed it!

What was the name of the app which needed to be frozen? I have tried freezing all "updater" apps and it is still happening.

The "friendly" name is MotoOTA, not sure of the full name.
Yeah I have been delaying the updating app. That must be it. I'm waiting for my unlock code, should I just update to 4.2.2, or wait for unlock.

I can't say for sure that being on 4.4.2 fixed it, but I am on 4.4.2 now and it is not happening anymore.
I unlocked my bootloader and did the 4.4.2 SBF, unlocked and rooted. I installed probably 99% of the same apps (only ditched 1-2 that I never used anymore) and I am not having the flashing issue anymore.
Hard to tell for certain if the pending OTA was the cause, but it may have been.

Since 4.4.2 Random Reboots

Hey,
Ever since the OTA update my phone reboots randomly about once every two days [I'm on Verizon].
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Screen just goes black, vibrates once quickly, then its back on that LG G2/Verizon screen and then boots. Then everything is fine.

Nope... Have you done a FDR yet? It is highly recommended to do one after taking this OTA if you have ANY kind of trouble at all.

Yes, FDR = Factory Data Reset, basically a factory default, not reflashing the original factory images.

Sorry for all the questions but you're just referring to go going to settings > backup and reset > factory data reset?

Your not the only one, but this is a very rare occurrence... Across all the major forums only 3 or 4 users have reported this issue.

Fairly common on custom builds

It's a fairly common occurrence for people on custom builds. I've noticed it when trying to do too many things at once.
There also apparently appears to be a link between SwiftKey and this problem from what I've read, or maybe that's an entirely different problem.
Mine have stopped after I disabled Google Services Sound Search.

I just rooted my phone about a week ago, I'm still on the 4.4.2 KK ROM and have Swiftkey and Google Services enabled. I also am using the Complete Keyguard Disabler.
A few things I've noticed are:
1)Random reboots/Phone overheating
2)Sluggish/unresponsive phone performance coming out of 'sleep' using double tap
3)Speaker/headphone Viper4 mod not working properly
Is a factory reset something I should consider if I didn't root the device until after the 4.4.2 update or is there something else causing these issues? I'm sure there is some user error in #3 as I'm going through the learning curve, but the most concerning is by far the #1 and 2, as I rooted it for the main purpose of increasing performance speed.
Any insights?

I haven't looked at any logs or anything on a remotely technical level. I noticed the google sound search was eating battery so I disabled it. Reboots are gone.

First and foremost, I was not rooted or using anything customer. I never tried rooting this phone because I figured there would be updates in the near future (I was optimistic).
I am also receiving:
Random Reboots
Overheating
Random Apps Crash frequently (Kindle, Search, Home, etc)
I am also using swiftkey.

I believe there are known issues with the G2 and Swiftkey on stock roms (rooted, custom, or otherwise).
What language are you using on Swiftkey. I'm on Swiftkey and Carbon and I'm not having any problems.
Using English (US)

I'm also on Swiftkey and am experiencing very similar issues, using English as well.
On a side note, I also work in a building that has no cell service and continuously cycles through wifi connections because the 3 networks I have entered vary greatly in strength based on a 10 ft radius of where I walk.. could this be a cause as well and is there a way to stop it from happening?
I've tried removing all of the connections except 1 wifi signal but then I'm really only connected when I'm at my desk and if I standup to walk somewhere it's disconnected...
#1stWorldProblems
These issues are still persisting... anyone think taking it to Verizon would do anything?
My phone is completely stock. I am wondering if I should just flash a new ROM or something.

I second this, still having random reboots and running completely stock. I'm getting close to just removing Swiftkey all together?
I stopped using swiftkey and I'm still getting random reboots

Problem with screen or App

I been trying to figure out if the app is glitchy or the phone is having intermittent problems. I was able to screen capture what I saw. So If anyone can advise anything that be great before I consider making a repair request from Motorola.
Thank You.
Can't tell if we don't know what app you were using or what you were doing when it happened.
If the entire screen was unresponsive and fuzzy I'd say hardware but if it's just the background and not the call notification I'd guess software. Factory reset.
Well when I first got the phone, the bottom navigation bar would flicker while scrolling in chrome browser. Now I get weird distortion on the eBay app. It seems intermittent.
I am sure this is a software bug. I have seen it a few times on 5.0 I never seen this on 4.4.4
Anyhow if it were the screen you wouldn't have been able to capture it on a screen shot

Didn't think about this. He's right. If the screen was the problem the screenshot would look fine.
Good point. Perhaps it is the lollipop bug. That's good to know. Can't wait till 5.1 comes out then . Thank you guys for your replies.
I don't know... I had same problem with one app.. Just one app.. It's a wallpaper app.. Getting rid of the app solved me the problems..

Cannot Connect to Camera

Hi all,
MY camera on my N6 has stopped working, I was running CM13, I unrooted it and install stock 6.0.1 and still no camera. Also I noticed that the flashlight quick setting is no longer there. has anyone experience this before?
My wife's N5 started doing this regularly and frequently particularly after upgrading to MOB30M in June. I spent a while looking for a solution and discovered a lot of people reporting it, not only on 6.0.1, and nobody had a solution that I could find. My wife just had to keep clearing cache & data and rebooting, which resolved it for long enough for a few more photos before it started complaining again.
Maybe the next update (due shortly) will cure it, but don't hold your breath.

Yes I tried a different camera and only my front facing camera works. I did a factory reset, clear all data, cache etc and nothing. Tried different Roms and nothing.

Then I fear it's a hardware failure.
if you are using an app(like skype), thats using your camera, thats what "breaks" it.
Have you even bothered pulling a logcat to see where/why it is failing? What have you tried to fix the issue? A bit of info might help.
