Is there anyone else who will get their Nexus 6 from Verizon? I will give it a try for a couple of weeks assuming I can easily root and install a custom recovery.
Nope. Got mine months ago and am already using it on Verizon.
I know I am wayyy late but there must be a person or two who will buy it.

Safe to say multiple people will buy it. Not sure what the point of this is?

I will be getting it. I doubt it will be locked down as bad as their Samsung devices.
Since it is a Nexus device we won't have to worry about kernels and locked bootloaders.

i dont like verizon, so ill never be on verizon, but fastboot oem unlock IS a nexus feature, introduced to us through the nexus one and every nexus after. while verizons version can be sim locked, all nexus come with an unlockable bootloader, even if the provider doesnt like it. and im pretty sure that this fact wont change. heck, im pretty sure the att version would have had a locked bootloader, if they were allowed to add that in.

Can you post a link to where HTC has said they will release an unlock?
just google around the fourm, Except AT&T all HTC Vivid variations are already supporting unlocked bootloader (Through htcdev.com)
If you are AT&T , bootloader is locked at the request of AT&T and I know you can call AT&T and complain because in USA google pushed for a law that would make all device unlocked on the new 700Mhz spectrum.

HTC internal tech told me that ATT has not requested a lock nor do they have the authority to enfoce it. Then again their site says bootloader locks vary on devices based on their partners, not really sure there other then shiofting blame maybe
Drew
The only reason I can think of that an Internal Tech would say AT&T did not request the Lock is to cover their asses from a stupid lawsuit from AT&T considering how much money they have and how many different manufacturers exist. Other than that everything is pointing to it actually being AT&T who wants the phone locked considering the Rogers variation is unlocked. Also if you look at what phones are on that website that say can be unlocked None of the AT&T phones are on there even though they can be unlocked.

Its very confusing beacuse both ATT and HTC have stated that neither of them have requested a bootloader lock and that it would be released "later"
I could see ATT requesting lockes however everyother device that is currently available LG, Samsung and ZTE all have unlocked bootloaders. So its very confusing that they would request locks on only 1 of their 10 Android devices.
TBH i have no idea, both both companies are saying the bootloader will be unlocked "later"

I think the forum is slow for a couple of reasons:
1. Like others have stated, there is only so much you can do without permanent root.
2. The phone just WORKS! I purchased $50 worth of apps on my old Atrix just to get it to do what Sense and HTC's implementation of Gingerbread does.
... Also, the phone is new and few accessories.

I totally agree, I unlocked the bootloader and got the temp root but now I don't know why I would need either of that. The only thing I did was removed some bloatware from system (not that I needed to do it). Everything till now seems to be perfect just works flawlessly or is broken that rooting won't fix.
I don't think there is is any ROM with sense 3.5 and 2.3.5 which can ported etc....I would rather wait for ICS and I don't think any one would work on porting it for this device yet any ways ,,,
the only things I am looking to get out of root (other than some custom ROMs) are getting mobile hotspot working and to a lesser extent TiBu.

Well our bootloader is locked. You need custom Kernals for anything other than TouchWiz ROMS.
I have seen some pretty close to AOSP roms with the right dev but we will NEVER have AOSP roms on this phone.
Only if Samsung had it like HTC's website for the M8. They have the option to unlock their bootloaders. SMH
Samsung, Verizon, and At&t are losing customers / sells due to this BS

I was assuming you meant locked and not able to get in at all. Like the rest said you can easily unlock it. Only difference between this and the one from the play store is the boot logo/ and logo on back. You can get the Sim unlocked too but I'd research that I've seen people complaining about some of the unlock services.

I would relax a bit guys. We have almost 6 MO the before the next nexus comes out.
I wouldn't be surprised if HTC does build it. Huawei on the other hand. Not very likely as the 6p was one of the worst selling nexus devices and most people refused to by it just because of who made it.

To be honest I am not sure. Verizon is not here.
Their biggest issue is the open source licensing. Alot of the telephone stuff for working on CDMA is closed sourced so it is hard to make it open source.

While this is true, the basics are that the stuff to run the phone operations on CDMA network are all closed sourced. So you cant really release a device that is supposed to be completely open source running a CDMA network. Thats why there are always issues with nexus devices and CDMA networks. You see the same thing with sprint the last few CDMA networks in the world as most use the updated GSM network.

carrier unlock is different than Bootloader unlock
I explained that and he knows the difference... each carrier gets a specific code to unlock their phones for the people that's not what I talked to the tech about ....we were talking about obtaining root status from a bootloader unlock perspective. He said the bootloader should not be locked from Samsung... unless the company specifically asked for it like a AT&T specifically asks for it... T-Mobile does not specifically ask .....
