Is anyone having an idea on how to handle the following:
- Start menu is opening and closing by itself, and
- after a while the device stops to respond to any input on the touchscreen, while other functionalities seem to be OK;
- neither a soft nor a hard reset help. The screen remains 'frozen' until... again difficult to say why, it recovers and then ...all over again as above.
thanks,
Nic
I had the same problem after about 2 weeks of use. Turn off, soft-reset, hard-reset didn't help at all. Leaving the phone off for couple hours helped but the problem occurred again. Very frustrating. I have contacted the HTC support but still haven't received any responses from them. I think it's the hardware problem.
This is either a motherboard problem- it has occurred on some Trinity and Hermes devices and involves the screen controller chip; or it could be a problem with a screen protector (if fitted ) causing pressure around the edge of the screen
I had the same problem. Sent my device to HTC and they replaced the motherboard. When I got it back, I thought all is well. The drop down menu started again so I sent back to them with a nasty message. It is in repair now and hopefully they will fix it again, change the motherboard and the screen!!!
Hello Gilbert,
When you send to them, you had to pay the shipping fee?

Hi,
Oh yes. twice already and this pisses me off. When they sent the device to me the first time after claiming it was fixed, i did not have to pay for shipping costs. Let's hope they fix the bloody device soon or I am going to change brands.
Thanks,
Gilbert
I saw that problem on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYfohqde2E8
Man I really hope mine doesn't have that problem, I wonder what it is? Let us know what happens when you get it back, again.
Dam, wtf, while reading this thread my Trinity started to act exactly as described in the above posts!!! IT'S contagous! Seriously... I do have a screen protector... Hope it rights itself....
This is really terrible...

Hi there,
After having used my Trinity for 4 weeks I am experiencing same problems of erratic behavior, the start menu is activating itself and as a consequence device is slowing down gradualy up to the point where it freezes. I tried, soft/hard resets, removing battery etc. but nothing seemed to work. I have not installed the screen protector yet, so I can rule out straight away the effect of the screen protector. First I thought it could be jog dia lwheel which might be faulty, then it crosses my mind that it could be some virus. I donwloaded some applications off the internet. Before I found this thread I was considering of deleting the ROM and replacing it with another one, but it seem that the issue is more of hardware origin rather than software related. What happend after you got it from the repair? Is it working now? Cheers.
I have no idea what's happened but the screen on my Z is completely unviewable. Was in my pocket, got a text took it out and it's dark (backlit making it appear grey) but with lines moving all over the place. Every now and then I get a brief glimpse of my home screen but then it disappears. The phone itself appears to be working but I can't see anything at all on the screen.
I've tried a reset (pressing vol+ and power button) but same issue right from the start (even on boot the sony logo appears as lines all over the place).
I suspect it's a hardware issue and i'll have to take it back but any thoughts before I go down that route?
Phones4U are going to do an exchange for me so problem solved but it does make me nervous about any future problems. Not even a month old yet and it's not like i've been throwing it around.

I do understand. We have to accept though that every devise we purchase there is always going to be some that are faulty. When it happens to us we tend to think its a devise problem that affects the whole range. Some people actually decide not to purchase that brand again meaning from phone to TV etc?
I am an Asus fan yet the hell I had with their range of tablets could have turned me against the brand. It didn't I own some very good Asus products.
These forums tend to be negative places as an awful lot of members only join a forum because they develop a problem. If we read every thread published here it would be impossible to purchase any phone from any brand as every single one of them has some problems.
You must, obviously, return your phone for an exchange. I hope all goes well with your replacement. It should be fine.
Hello all
My watch has developed a strange display scrolling problem when active watchface is displayed since lollipop update.
Please see the following video to explain the problem.
Have tried to reset via the menu to fix the problem . after reset it works for a few minutes but then it comes back. I feel this is a software fault
Any ideas chaps?
Thanks

bro..im having the same issue..have u manage to rectify it?
I was advised by LG support to return it to the distributor
they initially told me to go back to lg but in the end they gave me a RMA
Now waiting for a repair or replacement watch. Fingers crossed
I had the same symptoms as well. When through LG's customer service to get an "RA" number. I was pleasantly surprised that LG provided pre-paid shipping through FEDEX. I received it back in a little over a week. It appears to be a new watch altogether, as the the front display didn't have the screen protector I put on it, as well as the band looking pristine. So it appears that this wasn't a software issue, but a hardware failure. It was surprising that it didn't have the latest firmware installed, but I'm still happy I have a functional LG Watch R back again! Make sure you keep the invoice/receipt to provide proof of purchase for free warranty service.
I have the same problem in my particular case happen after flashing the Urban ROM ... also think is a sofware problem ... any suggestion, i dont live in the USA and sending the watch to warranty will take months....
How to fix it?
Sorry for popping this thread. I have the same issue. My watch is 10 moth old. I tried to contact LG USA support, but for some reason they don't take responsibility for it. I definitely got my lesson regarding LG support
Did anybody managed to fix this problem? As for now I have $$$ brick
My watch has now developed this problem too but i am on marshmallow.
Would flashing 6.0.1 on the watch fix it does anyone think?
I cannot bring it back to LG as i bought it second hand
Any ideas to fix would be greatly received
I have the same problem, Did anybody managed to fix this problem?
I had the same issue. To solve the problem you need to remove the mainboard from your watch and do a reflow procedure with the mainboard.
A simple way to do it is to put the mainboard in a oven and heat it op to about 100 degrees celsius for about 5 minutes. Remove it from the oven and let it cool down.
Assemble your watch and power up.
problem solved

You are the best, my friend, precisely the problem solved in this way.Thank you very much. :good:
Hello. Since few weeks I have extreme problem with ghost touch issue on Just top of the screen where the notifications are. I've turned on the programist options in order to see where it happens.
It looks like multiple ghost touch on the top edge on hole width. Sometimes the area respond to my touch, but most of the Time does not.
Happens random, case or screen protector is not the problem, tried all the options.
I have found some solutions from pocophone, but neither of them works.
Disabling gestures, miui optimalization, screenshot gestures, non.
Tried factory reset, updating to miui 11, nothing improved. After factory reset no problem for 1 day, not sure if there is a correlation.
I Will try to record the problem when it Will happen again.
Do you have any advice? I have warranty but at this moment would like to try all avaible solutions. Thanks in advance.
EDIT
Here is my video how it looks

Im the same, just noticed, after 2 days without issues that i was recording a telegram audio and it happend, idk its kinda clueless always
Man, definetly it has something to do with software, just a few moments before posting this i had the issue and it didnt want to leave so i had to restart the phone, first time this way.
Guys I found out what's causing the issue!!! It's not software or hardware. If you have the original Xiaomi case that comes with the phone it causes the ghost touches! I tried removing it 2 times and each time I put it on I experience the ghost touches and each time I remove it they stop for 1+ day which means that the case is causing them. My guess is that tiny particles are stuck between the case and the phone making it do this.
had this on my previous phone, had to rma it

Just found i had a spigen clear case(bulky) and since i got back to Xiaomi's case it is happening a lot less than before.
My problem happens even without the case, and I used Nillkin Nature. Phone is in service currently. When it gets back I will tell you
Lol, how can this be? I believe you, though.
But oem case doesn't even touch the screen properly.
Sent from my Mi 9T Pro using Tapatalk
Phone sent to Service. After two weeks it is coming back to me with replaced screen. In about two days I will check if everything is fine.

Any update on your phone? Touchscreen problem solved?
Problem arrive when using 3 finger swipe for screenshoot. there is solution on net about this problem, instead 3 finger swipe just use power buton and vo- for screen shoot
Ho boy, Looks like this is a common issue, I thought it's just me and I had to live with it with this ghost touch, Particularly when dragging the notification screen and clicking on the settings it won't respond had to do multiple times. S/W update, reset nothing helped. Last week one genius broke my screen and I had to spend and replace it. After replacing the screen I'm not noticing this issue anymore.

As I wrote, tried everything, also disabling screenshot gesture. Problem is hardware, after warranty screen replacement everything is working fine.
At first also had problem with dragging down notifications bar, screen was not responding. Then I turn on touch location in developer options and saw that there is ghost touch in that part. Day after Day it became more disturbing to the point I could not use the Phone.
You can buy whole screen on Aliexpress and change it by yourself if You dont have warranty.
I hope Xiaomi fixes this for those affected. The Redmi 5 Plus had widespread problems with the touchscreen which is why I bought the Mi9T Pro. Not had this myself but I'll be fuming if it ever happens to my Mi9T Pro.
I've still got the Redmi 5 Plus and it's been pretty horrific - the issues started whilst it was in the warranty period and then continued/worsened from there on out. I could kick myself for not getting it serviced in-warranty. Xiaomi essentially sold a lot of people faulty devices; many complain of ghost touching / non-responsive behaviour over on the R5P XDA sub-forum like it's a ROM bug.
I'm also facing this issue of phantom touch or ghost touch.
It's really annoying. I guess screen replacement is the only solution as I've tried almost all options mentioned in various internet sources.
Xiaomi sucks..!
Problem: Samsung galaxy note 9 screen started flickering green occasionally for about a week then after that it went completely green and could barely see anything on the device until it just went completely black screen then green again.
https://www.sammobile.com/news/more-users-facing-green-tint-display-issues-different-galaxy-devices/
I have seen a large number of posts posted on other websites, and many users sent to the Samsung community, but the posts were deleted by the community administrator. This is a global error! I have lost my patience with Samsung and called the after-sales customer service. The customer service only asked me to take the after-sales test. Modern people's life is almost inseparable from the mobile phone. Now my mobile phone display is almost unusable. This is Samsung's own wrong firmware. As a result, after I updated the October patch, the error was not fixed! My work life has been affected! Samsung has not yet acknowledged the problem and has not actively responded to it. Samsung Note 7 has experienced a battery explosion, and now the screen of Note 9 starts to flash green. Samsung is really bad! Even so, the Samsung community manager deleted a lot of feedback about the screen turning green and flashing. I think Samsung’s attitude is problematic! Samsung exploded in note 7 and lost some fans. Now Samsung is not actively fixing the issue of the screen turning green! Caused me to dislike Samsung!
From what I've heard the screen need to be replaced. Buggy software update caused it to damage but samsung is playing dumb by denying it. The screen replacement would cost more than half of the phone's price.

I have same problem, this is shame of Samsung to not be interested for this problem, and this is my last samsung phone for ever!
(Procedure S9 and note9 but should work on all with always display)
It's a software problem.
I show you.
Activate always on display, choose "home button and clock" and "then tap to show".
Exit settings.
Turn off the phone with the physical button on the side, and turn it back on in the same way after two seconds.
Now the screen is green.
Now turn off the phone with the physical key.
Touch the screen, the clock appears and under the virtual key, turn on the phone with the virtual key.
Now everything is fine.
Give it a try, if it works write it here.
Because it would be immoral to spend $ 250 to repair a phone that is only a software problem ..
The problem is that I have a broken screen and then it always stays green, or it is not the screen, as in this case and if you turn it on in one way it is green and if you turn it on in another it is fine. perhaps it is a case of planned obsolescence

I have this issue with my Samsung Note 9. I searched the internet and found this post. I followed exactly what was said here and this definitely works. It solved my issue., no more green tinted screen. Now I just need to get out of the habit of using the physical button on the side of the phone for turning "on" my phone. Hopefully Samsung will fix this issue soon so we can use the phone as intended, but until then, thank you for helpful information and finding a solution to the problem.

It's a great solution. To all those who are saying that it's a hardware issue, it's not. Samsung messed it up and the service centre guys are brainless and uneducated enough to not know that.
I would like to propose a better solution - instead of tap to show and then force clicking the home button, you can set always on to permanently show and choose the home button option. That way, you will only have to press the home button and won't have to go for the extra procedures.
Again, this method is just a modification to the original hack and kudos to the editor for thinking that way!

Worked for me. Thank you!
This is not only a software issue.
Only solution to change your display.
Rule #1 if your OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission...
Do Not Update!
This goes double for carrier phones. AT&T for example will wreck your phone with their later updates.
With Pie and above security isn't an issue unless you do something stupid. Don't get sucker in by scare hype.
Always redundantly backup critical data to at least 2 hdds and always be ready to reload. Reload if you can't resolve a malware issue asap. Cover your ass...ets
Your Sammy will run well for many years if you leave it be
defilante's method worked for me. However, if I am on the phone and need to use another app after the screen has gone to sleep, I have a green screen again. In other words, doing phone calls, I can't access any other app and see it. Once the call is over I used the method mentioned and clear screen again.
Not a Note 9 or S 9 but I got the same issue with Note 10 plus 7-6 days ago and I couldn’t go to a service centre to fix it. now the green screen issue is gone. I don't know how but it's totally gone. I just used the device usually with that green screen error around 4 - 5 hours per day (but stopped all the heavy works and reduced screen brightness too.) and yesterday evening I saw the green screen had gone when I unlocked phone. so my advice is just give it some time to check if it'll be restored and fixed.
In case if it's fixed don't use the phone heavily as you did before (If you've used heavily) and use it under low brightness (don't maximise it).
I got the same issue one fine day and even the device reset option did not work for me.
THe only option which works is to keep the "Always on" screen activated and unlock through it. Anybody saying ITS A HARDWARE ISSUE, must be able to answer that why the hardware works fine if unlocked via Always on screen and not when unlocked normally.
Its a temporary measure and the problem is very irksome. One side I have to live with an additional battery drain of Always On screen now. And on the other side, the issue still persists if I get a call from someone as the screen is green and totally unreadable (especially under sunlight)
Did anyone try a Custom ROM and got this issue fixed? I am going to try custom rom only for this issue and thought of checking here just in case.
When people buy sammy phones at sucha high price, the expected device life has to be much much more compared to Chinese phones, else why pay such high premiums.

So the display completely normal when you run it like this? If you have the tap on AOD option, it should use little battery.
Try not using the lock screen at all. I double tap on/off always.
With its millions of semiconductors throughout it could still be a hardware issue. Ever wonder what happens when just one fails?
You maybe bypassing the damaged pathway...

Let me try few custom ROMs and old official firmware versions and then I will be able to say anything conclusively.

If the original stock firmware doesn't function as it once did, then the hardware state has changed.
If you can avoid using that pathway with different firmware than the defect is irrelevant.
It's rather interesting but it's just a guess on my part.
Are there any redundant pathways? Self healing for any circuits other than flash memory cells? Don't know but I suspect not.
Pretty amazing these devices last as long as they do.

My wife's Note 9 has had this problem since mid-2021. I bought her a Pixel 6 as a replacement. Always-on display indeed works but as you said, once you're on a phone call, you in trouble again. Amazing Samsung has totally ignored this - I guess the phone is old enough to pretend like this problem doesn't exist.
Adding my experience to the mix. Bought my unlocked Note 9 (512GB) the week it was released. Never had a problem until 2-3 months ago. Started having an issue with an app not recognizing that it was paid for so I did a factory reset for the first time since I purchased the phone. After the reset, boom, green screen just like everyone else and the same workarounds work as well. Doesn't feel like a hardware issue and Samsung/UBreakiFix have been no help. Samsung really needs to step up quick because I'm getting ready to go out and buy an iPhone 13 Pro Max.
