Changing the IMEI number in the UK is illegal

Nvm, just let your thread die, maybe a moderator will close it. Afaik, discussions about how to change IMEI are not tolerated here (because of legal issues in some countries) but since it was only a question about if it was legal or not, there should be no problem.
So are you still going to send it for repair?
So are you still going to send it for repair?[/QUOTE]
Yes i'm still sending it in.. the phone will only charge when turned off ..keep seeing the USB Host Mode error message too.. i'm beginning to see that it's a very common issue with the M7
Thanks again, i'll let the thread die out

I will close it but you will most likely find that if you had to change it then it is most likely a knock off device and when you take it to the repair center they wont touch it.

Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you guys know how to fix this problem with the keyboard not working after sliding the screen completely open and I say completely open because when I open it half through the touch screen will work but only when the screen is completely open so I can use the keyboard is when it stops working. It also works when in landscape mode but the device has to be closed otherwise it's not working. Any help will be much appreciated and thank you in advance.
are you running a hero rom?
Yes I am but actually this happened before I flashed hero on the phone I first had this problem when the phone was on JF 1.51
dont know exactly what the problem might be but it sounds like a hardware issue, you should return it
I'm gonna just keep trying if after a week I can't get it fixed ill considered returning it. Is there an easy way to go factory/stock mode because if they find out my phone is rooted they're going to void any warranty the phone may have

also since we are on this topic, does anyone know if tmobile checks IMEI on warranty exchanges, or do they just see if the phone is up for warranty exchange still. i am wanting to swap my spare g1 with a new one since the speaker is out on it and some of the keys dont work, but i dont want to run into problems at tmobile. Thanks guys!
I had warranty devices shipped out to me, perhaps 20 times. They only asked me to confirm the IMEI, maybe 4 times, out of 20. Asurion on the other hand, has always asked to confirm the IMEI on all phone claims etc...
As far as them checking the IMEI in the warehouse once the Phone is returned, I have no idea. I have yet to return a phone whos IMEI's didnt match. Sorry.
Goodluck tho.

Have you tried repairing it thru PC Companion? The error may be due to software crash. Try repairing it using the PC Companion.

That means Sim Card Rejected because the IMEI is reported stolen and the phone is barred by the network...Where did you REALLY get this phone?

No, the IMEI is on the Phone, this phone is tagged as stolen you can forget this phone, you wont be able to use it anymore, anyway your question is really embarassing, do you really think that's you can stole a phone and use it just by changing the sim card? What kind of person are you!

There is nothing he can do especially with a phone bought in Hong Kong, i'm not sure they'll refund him, admitting that he really has bought the phone and not stolen it.

Sadly no, when the IMEI is tagged as stolen there is nothing you can do, and of course the phone is stolen, try to get your money back ot cry.
Anyway Macau? You just said previously in Hong Kong, why your explanations look likes lies?

Or it could simply be a problem with the SIM card. You also get that error when trying to use a different SIM when the Phone is locked.

I also got the XZ from Fortress in HK and this morning around 10am I got the MM #6 error.
Just called Sony few hours ago and follow their instruction to repair the phone by PC companion but still got the same message.
I guess we need to call fortress about this issue
It is impossible that the phone was stolen, Fortress is quite a famous gadget in HK and I have my invoice on hand.

Absolutely not, the IMEI of the PHONE is tagged as stolen, not the sim card, you can put whatever sim card into it, you'll always get this error.
And Famous HK store or not the phone is tagged as stolen, the IMEI is blacklisted, no one can help you with that, even Sony can't bypass that and know that there is nothing to do if the IMEI is blacklisted, so maybe it's not all famous as it's pretend to be. Try to get your money back is the best option.

Regardless of what Qualquek says, I choose to believe you. He shouldn't be so quick to point fingers at people anyway, it's kinda rude and offensive.
As for the problem, I have no idea, but if it is an imei block, purchase a broken Z, or go to a phone store ask if you can see their phone recycling bin. Go to a repair shop (unofficial one) ask them to swap the Cpu / main chip or do it yourself.
(This is last resort, try to get it replaced or unblocked as much as you can)

you are from PH, right?
I found others have same problem also from PH in sony's support forum.
This thread has coloured me curious.
WHERE are you both (which country) when you are seeing this message?
All the mention of buying them in HK, along with talk of you not being there still, if you're in different countries, IMEI blacklist is unlikely, this happens per country usually.
There is the possibility (to the guy making accusations) that the entire truck load of phones that particular store is selling was stolen, and the whole lot has been blacklisted.
Also, it's not impossible that this was done in error. The system relies on humans to do that blacklisting, and humans are far from infallible. It is, however, highly unlikely.
Either way, to the guys with the issue, if your IMEI really is blacklisted (and it's not a hardware/software fault somewhere in the process) you can't fix it, no amount of SIM changing or firmware flashing will help you. Go back to the store you purchased it from and ask for a refund.

I got that error when I was waiting for my number to transfer, I also get that error when if I put an old SIM in my Ray so you don't know what you're on about if you're claiming you only get this error when the Phone has been barred.

A similar thing happened to a user on here, don't remember the exact details but they bought their brand new Z from Amazon which had an issue, long story short they weren't the only one and it was all Phones from one particular trader.
EDIT: Oh, mistook the #6 error for the #2, my bad, but some googling, first link in fact found THIS, so anyone with a genuine issue give it a try.
Considering i bought the htc one from ebay with the tester bootload and changed IMEI, would they repair my phone camera if i send it to HTC? Would they keep the phone or would they send it back?

I would imagine since that's a hardware problem they wouldn't do much digging around. As long as you are on stock rom and don't have any obvious changes or root files.

The IMEI was changed probably ba ESN, wont they use the IMEI to check warranty? Either way i dont believe they would keep the phone as its not illegal to change anything on the device (I think).

I highly doubt they would keep it. They may check against serial number as far as warranty but I've never dealt with HTC directly. I want to say HTC's warranty is a year and no HTC one has been out a year so every HTC One is still covered by warranty. If anything comes of it just play dumb and say you bought it on Ebay.
When I had to send my One back to get its screen repaired, I asked the rep I was on the phone with about the bootloader. He told me that the bootloader/ROM only becomes a problem when they can't flash it to stock for whatever reason, in which case the repair center will charge extra for the hassle of reflashing your phone. I was also told that flashing my phone to as close to stock as possible should be fine. I doubt they check your software any more than this. As with the "keeping the phone" deal, they probably wouldn't do such a thing unless it was listed as a stolen phone and some agency forced them to keep it.
My broken (shattered glass) screen wasn't covered by the warranty so they probably didn't check my warranty status. It may be different in your situation, but I hope that this helps.
Its to repair the known issue of the red/blue/green tint on the camera, i just want to play safe and get a new camera or a new phone.
Edit: Funny thing happened today, i somehow fixed my camera.
Anyway i was contacted by HTC in Portugal telling me, that because my phone was modified by Sprint the warranty is not valid in europe....

how?????
How's it going guys,so recently i had problems with my Htc One, one afternoon it started to overheat for no reason and finally died and wouldnt turn on or even charge or do anything. i called HTC,the girl on the phone said it seems its covered under warranty since it hasnt been a full year.i paid and sent in my phone to them, they received it,later told me my phone didnt fall under warranty for some reason,so i asked to send it back.
Today, i "received my phone" ,noticed a scratch on the screen (which mine didnt have)
tried connecting it and powering it and and it wouldnt do anything,it would do the HTC sounds when it powers on,so i was confused....
I turned it over and noticed it had the red "BEATS" logo, which mine didnt have, and it had the AT&T stamp on it!
wtf, they sent me the wrong phone,so now , they basicly lost my phone and sent me a random one!
I know its not mine just not cause of the AT&T and BEATS print on it,but also it came with a sticker on the back with the phones serial number which doesnt match mine either, and to verify this,i plugged it in to my computer, and when i right click on HTC ONE and click on properties ,it gives me a AT&T software version along with the phones serial number.
I called in and the rep told me i had to call in tomorrow and speak to a tech. has anybody here experienced anything like this with HTC? what should i do now? call them and ask them to send me my phone? what if they don't have it and have lost it? should they send me a refurbished one? they should also pay for the "wrong" phone i received to get shipped back?
i'm way confused ,sucks! hopefully they sort things out at HTC repair center and send me a replacement/refurbished Sprint HTC One,this is just absurd.
any advice would be helpful!
Greetings,
Please post all questions in Q&A.

Hello XDA members and Note 8 Owners,
I recently had to take my note 8 to service center as it was making crackling noise at highest volume during calls.
They told me that motherboard will be changed and IMEI will be rewritten.
Does this mean old IMEI will be rewritten or IMEI will be completely changed?
Thanks for help in advanced.

None of the IMEI nor the S/N will be changed.
They will rewrite the original IMEI for you.
BTW, you can use this app to check if the motherboard has been changed or remain the same:
Phone INFO ★Samsung★: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo
In the app, open the left-side menu and select 'Refurbishment Check' menu.

Refurbish model?
Hi guys recently I have sent my Galaxy A9 Pro to service centre for replacement of the motherboard and is underwarranty so is FOC. By using Phone Info I had my refurbish checked and the report is "It looks like your phone is a refurbished one".
My question is should I ask for refund? OR the refurbished is due to the recent replacement of the motherboard?
Thanks guys...

The software probably uses something to check components on motherboard to other items to give it's result of if the device is refurbished or not. Not sure why you'd think you are entitled to a new phone or refund if you already accepted the repair. You should have returned to he phone to the shop where you bought it if you wanted a refund.

I had called samsung the guy said "U should not trust 3rd party apps" they said by providing IMEI to them they can 100% confirm that it's an original instead of refurbished set. But the PHONE INFO said is refurbished. What should I do guy?
If I bring back to the shop will they convince me the same as samsung for not trusting the 3rd party apps?
Is there any other way to verify if my set is original or refurbished?
Thanks!

Your parts are original Samsung parts. That's not what refurbished means. Technically your phone IS refurbished.
And you already called Samsung and got your answer. What can we tell you that Samsung hasn't already?

accept that it's "refurbished" and move on.
refurbished doesn't mean fake, counterfeit, or inferior.
refurbished effectively means it has been repaired, it says absolutely nothing about wether the parts are brand new original parts, used parts, or parts from a different manufacturer.
the only way your phone wouldn't be "refurbished" after such a "repair" is if they chucked the phone in a bin and unwrapped a brand new one to send back to you.
as for why some repaired phones don't show up as refurbished, the apps that check for this need to make guesses based on serial and model numbers recorded in different places, and it's easy for the developer to make mistakes or for the replaced part not having a serial number visible in software.
