I have an Galaxy Ace that is around 2 years old, it's got a stock rom and it's rooted.
Now here's what's happening to it, the menu button on doesn't work, but at random times it seems to come to life and then I can't use my phone because the menu keeps popping up and won't let me open any app. It's like someone is repeatedly tapping the button or pressing down on it.
Sometimes if I press down on the return button it will stop but as soon as I release it it starts again, note that it's not always happen as the return button tends to get unresponsive too during this episodes.
Rebooting the phone only causes it to boot into safe mode and after a few seconds it will freeze and reboot again.
I've tried removing the battery and leaving it for a few minutes and removing the SD card and sim card before rebooting, but neither worked.
Could someone know what's going on here?
Hi
Try a factory reset , if still doesn't work then Flash Back To stock using odin and check that your SD Card isn't infected by any kind of Virus. You can also try doing a factory reset and then remove the SD Card.
If Helped Hit Thanks button

Hay i have a rooted G1 with Jf - can't rember what version.
I've been having lots of problems with force closing of various programs but otherwise everything was going fine.
After a few force closes today i decided to restart my phone, turned it off and then back on and stuck it in my pocket.
When i went to check my texts 5 minuets later i took it out and it was just stilling on the 'Android' splash screen - it was moving then freezing for a few seconds then moving (i don't know if that's normal but it wouldnt surprise me).
I took the battery out and restated again and exactly the same thing - it would not boot.
I did a quick search on the problem and remembered how to boot in camera+red mode - which the phone did fine. I then read that pushing green+menu+red would fix it.
I did this and the phone booted, but it lost all my home screen icons and was laid out like when the phone was bought. i then cheked an app or two and they are all still there and seem to have retained their data.
However other strange things are happening - the home button dosnt work, nether does the green, when i hold the red button i only get the 'power off' option not 'power off, silent and airplane' as i used to.
They are the problems i have found so far but there may be more. Basically i want to know what pushing green, menu, red actually does and i want to know what the hell is going on - im totally lost.
Please help
P.S. i did a test on the consol and it seems i still have root assess - just encase that relative
Go to recovery, wipe and reflash. It will solve all your issues.
I can't actually remember how to do that - can you explain more or link me?
and will it have any effect on my apps or settings?

You're going to need to go into recovery; press the home screen button, then the red (energize, end call, whatever) button. Hold both down until you get into recovery, which will be the text menu with all the selections available in green. Then scroll down to "wipe data/ factory reset" and do that- this simply wipes the phones internal memory. Then load the rom you are using, which I assume is already on the root of your sd card. If not, connect the phone, mount the card, and put the rom there before you get started with the above steps- chris
galaxy i9000 on froyo, rooted, one click lag fix.
out of the blue, whilst playing my gameboid emulator, phone started vibrating and rebooted. now i can not get into any of my phones data or files, all i get is a black screen, quick glimpse of my homescreen (correct times and up to date messages being received) more vibrating, then another black screen with more vibrating and a quick glimpse of my homescreen. this process continues in a loop for as long as it wants, or until i take my battery out.
my phone was one of the unfortunate bunch that got dispatched from orange that can't access recovery mode.
don't really want to send it back to orange because its rooted, so just wondering if there is any way of doing a factory reset, or any other solution to the problem would be highly appreciated.
thanks, tom.
please help i really dont want to send it back to orange
I would reinstall the stock firmware. I mean do you have a custom rom in your phone as this is all happening? If so, reinstall that rom. But which ever you have, get into download mode by one of these two methods:
Turn off your phone, hold volume down, home button, and vomlume button all at once and at the same time.
Or
Take your battery out, hold volume down, home button, and power then reinsert the battery.
What you are trying to get is a yellow android that's digging. Once/if you get into download mode, use Odin to flash the stock firmware or any custom rom that is Odin compatiable.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
but he doesnt have the 3 button combo.........
anyway there is a way to fix the 3 button combo, put it in the search bar.
if you wanna do a hard reset and see if that clears the problem type into the dialler *2767*3855#
ah i see. still worth a shot though. my other SGS phone (vibrant) had recovery disabled, but i could get into download mode by taking the battery out and reinserting it while holding volume down, home button, and power button.
PROBLEM
JUST FLASH NEW ROM VIA ODIN YOUR PROBLEM WILL BE short out..........................if I really help u plz click on thanks meter
My phone went low on battery and switched off and when I charged it back on, I am not able to restart my phone.
It goes till "Media Scanner running" then has 1 soft vibrate followed by 3 soft vibrates and it just reboots (screen switches off and the same thing repeats, it does not reboot with AT&T logo and stuff)
1. I am on AT&T stock ROM with the Froyo update
2. I do not have any external SD card on the phone.
3. I tried removing the SIM card and switching it on, still its the same issue.
4. I charged the phone with the standard charger
5. I have tried removing battery and SIM and then putting them back on.
This is so frustrating... I am out of warranty.
Can someone please help.
Pull the battery. Reinsert battery. Boot into recovery, do a factory reset. Bad news is you will need to reinstall your apps, reset your settings, and set up any accounts you have.
Is that the only available option? I dont think I have saved my contacts. I have a very old contacts file
By booting into recovery do you mean having the volume up & down buttons pressed while powering the device on?
No when the device is off press Vol up+ Vol down + power

My phone does the 1+3 vibrate thing any time an app force closes. Once in a while when it happens, the phone dies and will not turn back on, requiring a battery pull (which is why I will never buy a phone that doesn't have a removable battery).
If yours is doing this on every boot, either something got corrupted or an app you installed is causing a conflict in the OS. I agree that a factory reset is probably your only option (unless you flash a custom ROM).
And I would highly recommend putting your contacts into Google. It will save you a ton of time in the future as you get new phones. Sorry, I know that doesn't help you now, but you'll be better off in the long run.
Because you're out of warranty, you should check to see if you qualify for an upgrade. You can get a good trade-in on your captivate and get a new phone.
Hi all.
So my girlfriends S3 started something weird this morning.
Last night the battery ran flat, so obviously it was put on to charge. The phone was off while charging, but, instead of the constant icon of a battery charging, the icon would come up and disappear, and reappear, and never become fuller.
When we tried to start it up this morning, the Samsung GT-I9305 screen would come on, and then just disappear and reappear, same as the battery icon.
The phone has not been rooted, no custom roms have ever been attempted, it is as stock as the day we opened the box.
First we tried leaving the battery out for about 30 mins, same would still happen.
Then I removed toe sd and sim card, removed the battery, and tried starting with and without the sim card. The sd card has not been put back. Same thing would still happen.
After some searching, I tried getting into recovery mode by pressing and holding power, volume up and the home key. This worked once, where I chose the restart device option first, but since then I cannot get the recovery mode back again.
I read something about a 'safe mode' by pressing power, home and volume down. This gets me to a screen where I am asked if I want to continue, by pressing the volume up key, but no matter what I press, the device just goes back to the GT-I9305 screen looping.
I wonder if maybe trying a different battery would help?
Any other suggestions on how I could factory reset the device?
Hi, I haven't found any thread about this problem. Something gone wrong. My Idol 4 shutting off itself, few seconds after pushing a power off button. Simply, when I want turn off the screen and lock the phone few sec. after device no waking up and it is power off. When I booted device again after clicking the multitask window I can see previous apps that were opened before. Soft and hard reset neither solve a problem. I also remove SD card and SIM card for sure but that also not working.
Any ideas? I would try to reflash the stock rom via Mobile Upgrade Q. Or last chance is back device to guaranty.
Sorry for my bad English :c
