I had rooted my HTC One M7-Sprint a few months ago and installed CyanogenMod 11. Worked great. Now I'm trying to get it back to stock to sell it back cause I have a new phone.
I ran HTC One Gurus Rom "Guru Reset M7 Sprint 1.31.651.2" to return to stock with stock recovery. It did appear to work.
I have bootloader unlocked, and am S-ON.
One of the issues is that the Rom won't match the Firmware since all i could flash was the Rom being S-Off. The idea is that once I do an OTA it will update the Rom and the Firmware and I'll match.
But right now that mismatch between ROM and Firmware has my phone working, boots up into stock Android, but with a non-working screen. I'm told when we OTA it will be working again. the rom was 1.31, and from what I see in running Fastboot Getvar All the Firmware (I think that's version-main?) is 5.05.651.2. So I guess it's Cyanogenmod Firmware? Anyway, no match to the ROM version.
How do I get to the OTA without a working screen? I really don't want to buy any sort of hardware and spend a lot of $$, since I'm only going to get about $35 for the phone when I trade it in! I do have USB Debugging on and ADB working. Is there a way to start an OTA from ADB?
Have you tried just flashing the latest RUU? You may have to flash the full firmware first. That would get the phone up and running with the latest release.

Hung applying OTA HTC One M7 Sprint
What I read from HTCOne Guru said (which is where I got the file I flashed) said you can't flash RUU if you're S-ON.
I found a cheap on the go cable, connected my mouse, and got the OTA downloaded. Then I said yes, install it. It restarted twice, then....nothing. Frozen. White HTC screen, nothing.
So I powered off, powered on, it starts loading, I hear about 3 notes of the HTC music as it's restarting, and ....nothing. Still stuck.
I can boot into Fastboot, but not ADB it seems (I can't get ADB Devices to return the device ID but I can get Fastboot Devices to return the ID.)
I've powered down and restarted, and I've tried to get into recovery (shuts down the phone). I've rebooted from Fastboot screen. Nothing works.

All HTC phones come s-on...I don't know where people are getting the info saying you cannot RUU if you are s-on. **Sidenote** You cannot RUU backwards if you are s-on.
The RUU is your best bet to get your device working again.
Remember you need to re-lock your bootloader before running the RUU

So I was really dumb and tried to factory reset my phone while I was on a custom rom and now am stuck in a boot loop. I have been googling around to try and figure out what to do but nothing seems to work. When I try and Hboot an RUU stock file it gets stuck at UserData. I also cannot get into recovery only Hboot.
I am relocked and S-On. Don't know what else to do. Is it beyond repair?
Ok when you run the ruu are you selecting fastboot in the hboot screen ? Does it say USB after fastboot when connected ?

When i hold down power and volume down it goes to the Hboot screen and it automatically looks for the PH39IMG.zip file so no I am not running fastboot but when I do select fastboot it only says fastboot no USB (i do not have it plugged into PC btw).
When you select fastboot , then plug it in the pc and it should go USB , if not you need to install the drivers
If you need the drivers you dl htc sync manager , or dl the toolkit in the dev forum and install them that way .
Fastboot USB is showing up but HTC Sync is saying there are no devices connected, not sure if thats a problem.
Ok did you do this when you ran the ruu ?

Well I was actually extracting the RUU image from my PC's temp folder then placing it on my phone to allow Hboot to find it. I am now running the actual RUU software on my PC and it seems to be working. I will update when its finished. Thanks so much for your help.
Right on ,
Let us know what happens .
The ruu is stuck at 34%...I have it plugged in still not sure what to do from here
How long has it been stuck?
Don't unplug it...just let it sit...

sorry guys I was in class and couldnt respond. so right now i went through the RUU recovery steps and it allowed me to re-do the RUU setup. I just redid it thinking my PC may have messed up but I am stuck at 34% again. Any suggestions for what I should do after I recover it again?
edit: forgot to mention that I left it for a few hours while in class and it took me to the recovery setup
Can you get into recovery when it sends you there ?
no I cannot get into recovery. All i can do is get into fastboot.
Right but what recovery setup you mentioned earlier ? Maybe you got a bad ruu download try and re dl it or try a different version.
Sorry the recovery I mentioned was a recovery process the RUU takes you through when an update fails. I also have tried about 4 different downloads to no avail. I have been using this file here
Ok , what Rom did you have on the phone ?
I couldnt tell you for sure I installed it pretty quickly after the ICS update was available. I want to say I installed one of the HTC Holiday or Raider ICS roms because that was available before the Vivid one. Once that was installed I rooted.
Ok one last thing and I will see what I can come up with , the ruu screen when it stopped at 34% what was it trying or waiting on ?
Hello friends, I'm new here. The name's Jay. I hope to make good acquaintances here
Now for my problem: my One is stuck on a boot loop. It boots fine into the bootloader and recovery. I tried using the 1.29 RUU and the latest RUU (version 3.x) but still after a few mintues of booting into the OS it would restart. I've tried factory reseting and wiping the caches but no cigar.
Some back story: I originally had the phone rooted but with stock ROM and bootloader (using CWM recovery). All was good until one day my phone was not getting any service (there was an x on the signal indicator). I tried restarting my phone and thats when the boot loop started. I, ofcourse, backed everything up via adb (so no problem there) then tried resseting, changing ROMs (cyannagem) and it still rebooted a few minutes after the OS loads. On the sprint ROM, it always says system is unresponsive and it crashes.
Is my phone dead for good?

IWhen i brought the phone (July 2013) HBOOT was on 1.4x (something close) and i think 4.2.2 android. That rooted fine, until i had the boot problem. After trying the latest RUU 3.x (and it did go through all the way both the 1.29 ruu and 3.x) HBOOT is now at 1.5x and android is (i think) at 4.3 (it doesn't stay on lopng enough for me to check the andoid version).

Boot into Bootloader mode by using power button and volume down key.
Install drivers for HTC one on a different computer. HTC should show as MyHTC in device manager.
Then close all other programs on the computer and run 3.04.651.2 RUU from here
Good Luck.

at this point lock your bootloader again to run RUU.
Command to check if fastboot recognizes your device:

Lately my phone has been rebooting itself quite a bit. It seems to be getting progressively worse to the point where if I open any app for more than a minute or two then my phone will reboot. I've tried uninstalling quite a few third party apps but that didn't do the trick. Whenever I try to do a hard reset (whether it's through settings or the HBOOT menu) the phone will shut down and then instead of getting the picture of a phone with the green thing in the middle and a status bar below that indicating the phone is resetting, I get a picture of a phone with a red symbol similar to a hazard sign that will last for about 30 seconds then the phone just boots back up to my home screen. I had put an incorrect custom ROM on this phone about 5-6 months ago but I was able to get the stock Sprint ROM back on the phone and relock the boot loader and the phone functioned fine ever since up until about a week ago when it started rebooting randomly. I have a feeling this may be part of the reason why the factory reset is not working. Does anyone have any ideas on how to proceed? Can I do a factory reset by pushing a ROM to the phone through my computer?
If u are s-off then I suggest u download the ruu and run it. If s-off all u have to do is go to hboot and select fast boot and run the program it will reset the phone back to whatever software version it is for the ruu. If your not s-off you will need to get the ruu that matches your firmware. That should fix your troubles if not then you have something faulty with the hardware itself

Ok I am S-ON and here is what I am trying to do. I downloaded the RUU that matches my phone current software from the link below and placed the file in the platform-tools folder after renaming it. When I run the fastboot oem rebootRUU command in the cmd prompt, my phone just reboots rather than booting to the black screen with the silver HTC logo. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Ok I tried that RUU yesterday and couldn't seem to get anywhere because I kept getting error 170 (tried updating drivers, installing HTC sync, etc). Tried again today and got error 170 again, so then I went in my bootloader, then fastboot, connected USB cable, fastboot usb. I then ran the RUU and it said it was going to update my phone. The status bar then said "Waiting for bootloader" and my phone just rebooted itself to the home screen and then I got like error 171 or something (another USB error). I'm kind of running out of ideas at this point. I believe something is wrong with my recovery or I have some sort of bug because I attempted to flash a custom recovery today (TWRP) but when I unlocked my bootloader, I restarted the phone and entered my bootloader again but it still said relocked (even though the prompt on my phone came up giving me the warnings asking if I was sure I wanted to unlock the bootloader) so when I run the command fastboot flash recovery twrp.img I get something along the lines of can't read twrp.img or can't open twrp.img (yes I made sure the file is in the same folder that I am running the adb out of). Willing to try any recommendations at this point because my phone is pretty useless as of right now because it restarts every couple minutes. HTC wants $150 to fix it which I told them I'm not willing to pay, rather buy a new phone.
Hello folks,
I have a One running absolutely stock as of now. Initially it was running on Trickdroid ROM but to make the phone stock and get 4.4.2 OTA, i had flashed the relevant 4.3 RUU and had got the 4.4.2 OTA notification which went through smoothly and it was running on 4.4.2 and 4.19.1540.9 ever since.
Now yesterday, i checked for the Sense 6 update, the phone showed a prompt, downloaded the 670 mb update, tried to install it, got stuck on the red triangle, after 3-4 minutes the phone rebooted and the update failed. Even went into stock recovery, cleared the cache but the update gets stuck on red triangle and phone reboots after that.
Am totally clueless as to what to do now since the phone is stock now, stock recover, locked bootloader and i had even got a 4.2.2 OTA which had successfuly installed, wonder what went wrong this time.
The CID is BS_US001, unlocked 32 GB model from USA and currently using it in India. The usb port has also given away and it never ever connects to a computer (only gets charged with a wall charger) so flashing RUU etc would be impossible i guess.
What should i do now?
Thanks
Did a wipe cache and factory reset from recovery before attempting one more time.
I hit the volume up+power button when the update stopped today and the phone threw a "system/app/plusone.apk" has unexpected contents, installation aborted.
The phone is totally stock, not rooted, bootloader locked, how can it happen? Please help some one. The phone doesn't even get recognised on PC and shows phone is in usb host mode (the usb port is bust), would i be able to get any future OTA update or i should just sell the phone and get something else.
Thanks

Your options is severely limited with a busted USB port. OTA nandroid backup would not work because your recovery is stock and the backups are custom recoveries; you need the USB port to run a RUU.exe. I can only think of one thing and that is to find an OTA nandroid of your version and pull the "plusone.apk" from it and exchange it for the defective one. But you would need root access to get to the system drive. Sorry not much help!
Thanks for your help majmoz, seems its the end of the road for my m7, time to sell it off and upgrade to something else. There is absolutely no way i can work anything out with a busted usb port. Wonder why this issue cropped up, earlier the 4.4.2 OTA sense 5.5 went through without any trouble , the phone is stock since then but now this update is not being installed.

Well i tried connecting my One to the computer in bootloader mode and it installed the drivers successfully (showed My Htc installed), even the fastboot changed to fastboot usb. Any thing i can do for a workaround?
The moment i switch the phone on and connect to the pc, it says phone is usb host mode but connects absolutely fine in Fastboot mode through bootloader? Should i unlock the bootloader again and flash a custom sense 6 rom or would it be dangerous considering the mobile doesnt connect tp pc if turned on.

I'm a little confused, if you are getting FASTBOOT USB then the computer is communicating with phone and the phone has to be in a power up state. If you are able to get the phone in that state again, then I would try to run the RUU for your phone's current state (4.19.1540.9). You can get it from @crushalot thread [COLLECTION][GUIDE] HTC M7 RUU, OTA, and Stock Nandroid Downloads. If you go this route, everything on your phone will be erased so you will need to copy the data you want to keep to your computer. After you run the RUU, then try the OTA again.

None of the 4.x RUU are working. OP, download the OTA file for Dev edition, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52702278&postcount=932
And try flashing with stock recovery first, and if it doesn't work then use TWRP.

If i have to flash this OTA, wont it give the same error as am getting when am trying to update it via OTA?
Thanks for the link to the OTA, can i flash OTA from stock recoveries? Would it be advisable to install TWRP, make a nandroid and then try flashing OTA zip. As the phone is not connecting to computer for any data transfer, can i download the OTA file straight from my mobile and then apply it? Read about my issue and it seems that some system file is messed up as its giving "system/app/plusone.apk has expected contents", dont know why but feel RUU would be the last resort, last time also RUU helped as i had tried all other alternatives like flashing stock recoveries etc.
Thanks

I was wondering is USB Debugging enabled in "Developer Options"? It probably doesn't have any bearing on this situation. I also found this post about Phone in USB Host Mode. If these symptoms are what you are experiencing read through the post and pay particular attention to post #8 by @tobesedated. What is being reported by your PC at the time?

Yes that same option is enabled under developer options, i am having the exact same issues like OP. Once connected to computer, phone wont charge with a wall charger until it reboots.
If the mobile is connected to computer in bootloader mode, windows recognises the device absolutely fine and reflects in device manager "shows android device - my htc", if you boot normally to home screen and connect to computer then it shows on mobile "phone in usb host mode" and device manager shows nothing.
Seems i can just flash firmware or custom ROM's etc but not able to connect to computer to transfer anything to sd card like a user is able to on that thread.
Good news guys, as luck would have it, i read somewhere on xda that to reset the charging mode, switch the phone off, then charge it for 10 mins, hold vol down + up+power button and let it be for 2 mins. I did the same and no more usb host errors, phone is connecting absolutely fine to computer as well as wall charger.
Finding the way out now to update the phone to sense 6.0, saw a 4.19.1540.9 RUU on htc guru but the server is so slow, every time the download breaks at 100-150 mb. Any other workaround?
Thanks
Thanks a ton to @alray, @yatindroid, @SaHiLzZ and @majmoz i finally downloaded the 4.19.1540.9 RUU from Android ruu, connected to windows 7, used the .exe file and it smoothly flashed the stock firmware. After it, updated OTA to sense 6 and this time the update went smoothly and my M7 is now updated to sense 6. It is completely stock now, will easily get OTA updates in future and i wanted to set things right before selling it off so that the future owner does not face issues with the phone, not every one is a member of Xda .
If any one is facing the red triangle issue, download the ruu, flash it to revert to completely stock and then update OTA to glory.
Thanks guys

This M7 (completely stock) looked fine and I wiped it through fastboot. But It rebooted and greeted me with the former owner's settings. Going into recovery shows errors that it can't mount /sdcard. I suspect broken partitions/filesystems.
To remedy the broken partitions I tried to install a newer RUU, but as soon as I do the `rebootRUU` command it reboots, without going to the dedicated HTC RUU environment.
Then I tried to go into recovery and repair the filesystems through `adb shell`, but the shell is not available in a stock recovery.
To flash another recovery I tried to do the HTCDEV stuff first. Almost works as I come up until the screen with the disclaimer (on the phone!), saying yes/agree here, reboots (which should happen), but still, no unlocked bootloader
Does someone have any options left for me to pursue?

The issue with the unlockable bootloader is normally relates to broken firmware. The solution is to flash an ruu or firmware package before unlocking the bootloader. But since rebootRUU mode is unstable that's not going to be possible.
Are you able to issue fastboot commands to the bootloader in fastboot usb mode? Can you post the output of
Code:
fastboot getvar all
?
