Hi,
Is ROOT(ing) possible without re-install the whole phone?
Information and links are welcome
Use kingroot, its on xda.
Then use super sume to remove the Chinese elements and replace with SuperSU.
Thanks for you suggestion!
Unfortunately it does not work on my (SM-G800F) Phone even it is listed as a supported device.
Also no luck with the KingRoot v3.0 Desktop version.
Anyone have the knowledge for rooting this phone whithout re-install everithing on it?
Sorry I too have an 800F and its worked a great for me.
I used version 4.5 of kingroot

If we use @Chainfire methode to root our device, do we need to re-install all our apps as it would on a new clean install or wil all our apps still be there after a re-boot ?
No you will NOT loose any data.

So sorry for the late reply. No the chainfire method does not wipe any data or applications. Just flash the file and it will root and do everything itself. Hench the name "autoroot."
Thanks for making this clear!
Okay, so we need to use ODIN v3.xx and put the phone in download mode by pressing Vol-Down + Home + Power button till it comes into recovery mode, having ODIN already running with administrator rights and than plug-in the micro-usb cable.
I guess we need to use PDA button to load the file, do we have to tick other options as well ?
Thanks for the help !!!!

Hi, I'm a little bit confused here. Are we talking about the same context, i.e., an SM-G800[x] running Android 5.1.1? The landing page of the official repository states explicitly that "CF-AUTO-ROOT IS CURRENTLY NOT OPERATIONAL FOR ANDROID 6.0+, OR SAMSUNG ON ANDROID 5.1+".
Besides that, the download page doesn't list Lollipop versions, only 4.4.x.
Cheers
@RGold55
Yes there is only 4.4.2 supported
Read the obove text line: CF-Auto-Root Repository
CF-AUTO-ROOT IS CURRENTLY NOT OPERATIONAL FOR ANDROID 6.0+, OR SAMSUNG ON ANDROID 5.1+

So you did ok by rooting your G800 KK Android, as I did to mine last year, with that very same flashable. But, alas, CF-Autoroot for Lollipop is still in the dream stage.

I used the ChimeraTool to root the GS6 which basically is the same as flashing this file. After flashing the boot.img file, I still don't have root. I downloaded SuperSU and it's telling me there's no SU Binary installed. I also got a notification from KNOX after restarting my phone but accidentally removed it without reading it. What do I do now?

You can't get Superuser to work so apps like titanium backup and adaway won't work. Plus, when I flashed that file, my phone would randomly lag and wifi would crash randomly. I had to Odin back to stock to fix my wifi.

First of all: which model Tab S2 do you have? You need the the recovery that matches you Tab model. I also used the latest SuperSU beta, link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
1. I first flashed MM 6.0.1 using Odin, the I booted.
2. Flashed TWRP (latest) via Odin.
3. Booted into recovery and flashed SuperSU and Xposed. Everything seems to work fine.

Thank you for your reply, but I already sorted it out. I flashed the CF autoroot from this link https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ and it works perfectly. No need to flash twrp.
Sorry to resurrect this but since this thread largely answers me I just had one question.
Autoroot's website says :
UNLOCK BOOTLOADERS
If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device
I have the SM-T710 running stock OTA 6.0.1. Website says brick if bootloader is locked. Just trying to clarify if I can run Autoroot or not. Having lost a PC this week I don't want to add a tablet to the graveyard.
You'll be fine.

Aroma FlashFire ATT S5 finally!

Hi all,
Aroma is now working on our ATT S5 and S5 Active. through FlashFire emulation in their latest beta. Tested it, it works. Still stuck on lollipoop 5.0. but we can flash other Roms through aroma now.
Steps:
1. Start on muniz nce downgrade (4.4)
2. Towelroot
3. Install SuperSU
4. Install latest FlashFire.
5. Install muniz OF3 (I used deodexed prerooted) with flashfire. No need to wipe either, it's built into the install. Btw, change screen timeout to 10 min. Don't forget to install OA1 bootloader through download (using Odin) mode after rom installs. You can select reboot to download mode in flashfire.
Here's the link to the instructions for the S5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g900aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3149146
And the active: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3161733
6. Select your g900f Android 5.0 custom (TouchWiz only) rom. I am currently on Alliance v10, installed through FlashFire (change screen timeout to 10 min.) aroma emulator. I did a wipe of cache, system and dalvik in flashfire and selected "factory wipe" in aroma. Do not select any kernels in aroma. Takes 10+ min. To boot, just wait. I installed SuperSU 3.76 after boot and I'm still rooted.
Any questions, just ask. I have tried some 5.1 and 6.0.1 and they are a no go (probably a kernel issue).
I have attached a screenshot, yes, it says g900f, it should, look at the baseband, it's ATT of3.
I don't take any credit for any of this. I just tried installing a few different Roms with this method. Give credit where credit is due: chainfire-supersu, muniz-many times thank you for your unblock and upgrades to 5.0 whilst keeping root, Alliance rom-thank you for your awesome rom, and yes it works great on g900a! I haven't tested it on the active, so if you try it, let us know.
Question
Hi dude, thanks for share this information, but, where can I get the OA3 kernel? - Are you sure about the kernel version?
Interesting anybody else try this?

Yes. I'm sure it works. Take a look at the screenshot. I'm on it right now, used aroma to install.
I did make a mistake in the original post. You need to be on the oa1 bootloader, a link is included in muniz upgrade to of3 post (sorry about that). http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g900aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3149146

Should work for the active too. You have to use muniz rom, the latest one that still has root.
Here is the rom you need to be on for the active. http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3161733
You need root, flashfire and BusyBox. Aroma is a little slow, however, and doesn't register check boxes right away, but it does work.

OK so I got impatient waiting for an answer and used the root guide sticky in the Note 4 General section for the N910T except I updated a couple things. Samsung USB drivers installed: v1.5.63.0 and used Odin3 v3.12.3 to install the cf-auto-root file (latest from site) and then installed recovery TWRP 3.1.1
I think I'm going to stop now to backup things with titanium backup, then update to latest ROM+baseband. Hopefully can find it. Not fond of the search on this site.
