I have a 2013 ford c max and I've run multiple 5.1.1 roms on my galaxy s5 and the car would read the texts after recognizing the phone has received it.
i have tried to disable hangouts and use messaging but that won't work cause i can't get many of my text or picture messages... its a great app but missing that functionality would be more impressive.
Has anyone else come up with issues like this and if so any apps that will solve this.
btw i am on project fi

I'm experiencing a strange problem. I recently upgraded to a note 3 and my wife recently upgraded to an iPhone 5s. Ever since these upgrades my wife has not been receiving my SMS messages. She is able to receive MMS messages from me. Others that have the 5s can receive SMS from me. Had anyone else experienced this?

you didn't de-register from iMessage..you have to do this otherwise it'll keep going to your inactive apple acct..the geniuses over at the genius bar didn't tell you that I suppose
I don't think this is it. I had a Note 2 before upgrading to the Note 3 and I didn't experience this problem with the Note 2. I've been on the phone with AT&T tech support on this issue and they now suspect something is wrong with my wife's iPhone 5S because they can see the message getting sent from my device (Note 3) to her device (iPhone 5S) across their network. Yet it doesn't show on her phone. Actually, just yesterday my wife received all of the SMS messages I've sent to her over the last few days all at once -- something like 24 messages. So far she's been receiving my SMS messages as normal now since they all came in at once yesterday so I don't know what the problem was. Tech support wanted her to do a factory reset on her phone, but she didn't do that because it would erase all her text messages.
UPDATE:
I'm pretty confident I know how to duplicate the problem now. This seems to happen when I turn on SMS support in Google Hangouts. I'm using Hangouts build 2.0.217 and as soon as I enable Settings->SMS->Turn on SMS in Hangouts I experience this problem. I have no idea why it happens and why it happens only for a specific phone number. I've turned off that setting and am back with using the stock messenger now. I hesitate to turn it on again because it usually takes a few days for all the messages I send to get to my wife's phone.
So I got my Nexus 6 the other day and I am coming from an LG G3, both on Verizon. I have hangouts installed on those 2 devices plus a Windows 8 and a Windows 7 PC. When I send messages in either a group hangout or a normal single person hangout on the PC, the messages do not sync to my Nexus 6 but does to my LG G3 on Wifi. Plus I am constantly getting a spinning update circle in my hangouts app like it is waiting for more conversations to pop up but nothing ever comes.
I can send and receive messages on my phone in hangouts and they will show up in the chats on my PC but not the other way around. This is pretty frustrating because I come and go from my computer a lot and would like up to date conversations. This is the only device i have ever had an issue like this with. Anyone have any idea how to fix it? i tried removing hangouts from the system, restoring from my last phone, restoring back to stock, signing out of the phone, signing out of the PC, everything. I just don't know how to fix it.

I doubt it's you. Same thing is happening on my sister's Note 3 (AT&T). Might just be a server thing that needs to be addressed...
huh...weird. since this is the only device of mine doing it. my nexus 7 seems to be updating just fine too.
I'm in the same boat. I never ran into this on my OnePlus One, but I switched about a week ago when my Nexus 6 came in and now any messages I send from the desktop/Chrome version does not sync into Hangouts on my Nexus. In addition to not having the issue with my OPO, my Galaxy Tab Pro tablet does not have this issue. Neither does my wife's LG G3. We're both on T-Mobile.
Wanted to jump in to this topic to say I am experiencing a similar issue on both my Droid Turbo (4.4.4) and my Nexus 7 (5.0.1)... I am beginning to wonder if it is something related to Lollipop. The major way I can tell there is an issue, is if I clear cache and data from Hangouts and re-sign in, none of my previous undeleted hangouts show up. Only if I open a new Hangout with that contact will I see the conversation history.
I am having the same issue on my Note 2 as I wait for my N6 to ship. It started happening as soon as I updated the app to the latest version
FYI, I updated to the latest version of Hangouts and all syncs again. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/hangouts/hangouts-2-5-81587410-apk/
Just noticed this morning when texting the wife
The 6.0 update included rcs for the stock messaging app
Works over WiFi calling and video calling works as well
I've seen people report this but whenever I tried it's just the same regular one as L. Does it only work over WiFi calling? But switched to cm now so I guess it doesn't matter.
RCS?
Yes, I'm curious, what is RCS?
Rich communication services (T-Mobile advanced messaging) its similar to imessage or WhatsApp just allows you to see when someone has read or is typing also allows for sending of larger MMS sizes I believe.
It must only work between G4's because i only see it when texting my friend who has one but nobody else.
My wife has a galaxy s5 and I can see it when she's texting me and she also see's it when I'm texting her.
hmmm, I wonder why mine doesn't work with others. Maybe i need to do a reset, since my wifi is acting up also.
It only works with other devices that have the RCS update.
How can you turn RCS off? I like to ignore sms messages frequently and don't want the sender to know I'm not getting back right away.

Anyone experiencing MMS failing to send or receive on Android N? I was fine on dev 3 and when I switch to stock messenger I'm fine although I don't get any notifications that it doesn't send or receive like i get from Textra.
I've tried the manual settings in Android and in Textra and even turned off wifi to try it but it doesn't work. A reboot will work for awhile and then eventually it'll fail.

I know this is a year old but just in case you or anyone else is racking their brains out re: MMS failure to send or receive - looks like a Nougat issue that can only be rectified by a carrier firmware update:

Thanks. I moved over to pulse SMS since it allows me to get texts to my smart watch while away from my phone and on the data connection on my watch.

My nexus 6p has been working perfectly with my 2016 vw for past couple of months. Now, I can no longer send a text message or hangouts message. Still connects perfectly, makes calls and navigates by voice but no longer listens when I want to dictate a message. This seemed to happen overnight as it has always worked perfectly before and I am not aware of having made any changes to my phone or car. How weird. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm having the same issue with my Galaxy S7 Edge running Android Auto on my Pioneer AVH-4100NEX. I went on vacation and my car sat for a while and now when I'm in Android Auto mode I can't receive and send text messages. I ask Google for the weather or to do a calculation and I get nothing. However, if I ask Google to dial someone whether in my contacts for not, it dials the number. Does this make any sense? There doesn't appear to be any official Android Auto support. I contact Pioneer and they told me my contacts weren't syncing with Android Auto which was strange enough when they said it, but given the fact that I don't get a reply when I ask GoogleNow for the weather means my contacts shouldn't have anything to do with it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
