Help with stock firmware for Moto G 4G - Moto G 2014 LTE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I'm a newbie.
Just wanted to ask, is there a step-by-step guide on how to put sock firmware (lollipop) onto my Moto G 4G?
I also have the following questions and would be grateful if someone would answer them please:
1. When I put stock ROM onto an SD card or in a folder of my Windows computer, do I need to unzip it, or leave it zipped? Will the phone flash itself when boot into Custom Recovery? Or do I always need to use mfastboot?
2. Can I upgrade from Vodafone UK Kitkat (phone now unlocked) directly to Lollipop, or do I need to flash Kitkat ROM with EU firmware first?
3. If mfastboot needs to be in the same folder as the stock firmware, then why do your instructions say that it should be '1) Download ROM to Internal storage or External SD.'
4. When you say, '4) Flash ROM and Radio Firmware for your model.', I understand it means using mfastboot?
Thanks for any advice, and I apologize if the questions above sound silly (one has to start somewhere).
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
Unfortunately, I am only comfortable with answering a small fraction of those (e.g., leave the file zipped - unless there is an update zip in the zip bundle), as most of the questions are specific to Motorola devices (I may get around to owning one at some point )
At any rate, I am connecting you to the forum your device experts can be found:
> Moto G 2014 LTE > Moto G 2014 LTE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
This is a shared forum with the 2015 model set, so you may want to share your exact model number (should be one of these: XT1039/XT1040/XT1042/XT1045) for more direct help.
Please note, that in order to add that info, or to respond to replies, you will need to register for an XDA account.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

Q: Where can I find the correct RADIO SBF file for Cellcom Israel Atrix4G?

My phone worked very good for 1 Year but recently it boots 80% of times when placing a call.
I have learned from the forums that the problem is the radio rom and I should flash a correct radio file.
I also find instructions how to flash an SBF rom in "[GUIDE] Flash SBF to Motorola Atrix 4G - xda-developers.htm"
but the files in that tread are inaccessible.
I also find other threads with unclear posts to flash radio.img, but also those files are inaccessible.
Can someone point me to the correct radio file and the correct method to flash it?
Thanks
Eli

Flashing from unlocked bootloader

Hi Guys,
I have read a lot of the threads but I cant seem to find the right one, perhaps there is a guide that I cant find?
Anyway, I have an xperia Z on stock I unlocked the bootloader a few months ago without problem but I never got round to flashing a rom, now there seems to be a lot more to choose from I would like to flash, but theres a few things that are slightly confusing me.
1: Can I just flash any rom because I have an unlocked bootloader?
2: if yes to question 1, could someone please point me to a guide.
3: do I need to root to be able to flash a rom?
4: if yes to question 3, please could someone point me to a guide
5: Do I just need to use flash tool to flash a custom rom?
6: if yes to question 5 please can someone point me to a guide? (I found a guide in the general forum, but it only refers to flashing a stock rom, abd I am interested in custom roms)
7: Am I miising something completely?
sorry for all the questions, I have previously flashed roms on HTC and Samsung phones but this sony seems a little different.
I would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer.
Thanks
1. Yes (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153167)
3. Yes (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2154310)
You can also use (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186423)
5. Flashtool is used for flashing only stock roms and kernels (custom kernels (Unlocked BL) or stock (Locked BL), You should use recovery to install custom roms (link in 1)
7. Yes you are - the kernel. Hope you would be moving to CM or AOSP, in such cases you should flash their respective kernel before flashing the rom. Refer to link 1. The kernels will be provided by themselves and you can also use flashtool to do the same!
Hit THANKS if I helped!

Guides are usually in stickys, so I don't know why People have problems finding them or need us to point them out.

Comeon..... Go to dev thread all instructions are very exhaustive and if u have a unlocked bootloader why to worry..... Flash any rom u will be fine... U will find all instructions clearly laid down
Unlocking your bootloader allows you to use the likes of cm 10 and as op also it i is then very easy to install roms, if you ever have to recover with flashtool ftf then after completing you just flash dooms kernel and then there you have cwm, rooting is very easy doom lord created a self rooting zip which you flash in cwm. No more flash ftf, root, install cwm. Also you are able to factory test / wipe cache in cwm because dooms kernel will just rebuild files needed
a lot of custom roms are already prerooted I think there are 2 which isn't, 1 is zeroinfintitys

[Q] Updating S5830D

I have a S5830D 2.3.4
Baseband version: S5830DTLKI4
Phone has been rooted and unlocked.
I would like to update it to the latest official release from Samsung. I cannot do it through my carrier since phone is unlocked.
1. What is the latest OS version for this phone?
2. What is the procedure to update
Note: I don't care about backing up since phone needs to be wiped/reset to be given to someone else.

[Q] Help request with network reception after flashing a custom ROM.

Hi All,
Since this is my first post, my name is Robin and my hobbies are house music, playing the guitar and video games. nice to meet you!
I require some help with flashing a custom rom to my Samsung Galaxy S Advance (GT-I9070).
My goal is to have custom Rom working. The reason to change from stock 2.3.6. to a custom Rom is that is has become too slow and unresponsive to work with. I have changed to CM11 and then to Carbon Rom, and really like it, but both have a problem with reception. This is why i post it here, i don't think it is related to just a single Rom but to my phone in general.
I tried the following:
1. Gain root access through Odin. (baseband was originally I9700XXLK2, Dutch, carrier Tele2, which uses T-mobile network. not sure if the telephone was locked to this carrier).
2. flash TWRP using Odin.
3. download CM11 and google apps and flash it using TWRP.
4. no signal and com.phone.android stopped working every minute, as well as slow response when pressing power button.
5. flashed carbon rom, same problems.
6. went to xda-devs on irc for help, a nice guy explained to me that the problem likely resides in baseband.
7. downloaded the newest stock firmware for T-mobile in the netherlands from sammobile, extracted the modem.bin,md5 (after backing up efs and modem by help of the xda-dev on irc) and flashed it through odin as PDA after creating a tar file out of mode.bin.md5 ( by command tar -H ustar -c modem.img > modem2.tar)
8. Now the problems are gone except for the fact that i still have no reception! and baseband under settings --> phone is "smallband: unknown"!
Does anyone know of a solution to my problem? I wish to get reception. Did i not flash t he new modem image right?

You must flash stock JB to get its baseband to be able to use 4.1+ ROMs. If you have I9070, beware not to install I9070P firmware, because that will hardbrick your phone.
You can get firmware from samsung-updates.com or sammobile.com and look in general section for rest of guides, you have one thread with most needed stuff.

Thanks! That did the trick.
So, for anyone reading this later: in order to flash a custom 4.4.2 ROM to your GT-I9070 stock 2.3.6. phone, first flash jellybean! A nice guide is here:

Failure to install TWRP ROM [Samsung Galaxy S4 Active]

So I have been trying to install a custom recovery on my rooted phone, I am on 5.0.1 or 5.1.1 not sure at the exact moment but when I go to install TWRP Odin mode I believe it is, is stopping me from continuing so the device is just sitting at "Downloading... Please do not turn off the target". I attempted multiple different flash APKs (Because I don't have a computer). I did see another post with someone who has the same problem (not sure if he used a PC) but this is very annoying. Can someone please assist me?
I am making sure my device is rooted, I have the proper version for my device I just need to use this to install Xposed installer on my phone, but again, no PC access..

Based on a post you made in one of the other threads it sounds like you have the i537 (AT&T version of the phone). If this is the case you have a locked bootloader, meaning you cannot flash any custom recovery. You're only option is to use FlashFire to flash things.
If I misinterpreted what you said and you do indeed have the i9295 (international version of the phone), you should be able to put a custom recovery on your phone.
Based on what you said above, you are putting the phone in download mode where you can use Odin to flash things to your phone. Odin is a PC program and you can only use the phone in download mode in conjunction with a computer. You need to put your phone in recovery mode in order to be able to flash things without a computer. It sounds like you need to do some more reading about what you're attempting to do and how your phone works because you are starting to mess with some low-level programming on your phone and you could permanently brick it.
This is true, I have the AT&T variant. My friend sold me this for real cheap so brick in it isn't the worst thing. I did state I cannot use a PC as I do not have one. I also don't believe I can put my phone into recovery mode, or at least I don't know how. I tried [HOME+PWR+VolDown] and I believe it tried to install the recovery. So, maybe I am missing something there is a lot to read. Do I need a computer to do this or can I found it without?
Could you please maybe private message me or leave it here, a step tutorial on how to put this phone into recovery and install the a custom ROM. (I know how to use flashify already) the only issue is the locked bootloader. Thanks for the information. I do not have the international phone. Just AT&T. Not unlocked.
You cannot install a custom recovery or flash anything through the recovery menu because AT&T locked the bootloader. The only ROM that exists right now for the i537 is the Slick As Hell ROM in the development section.
As far as learning more, check the stickies it's always a good place to start.

You didn't need to post this question on two different threads. Check the other links in the stickies.
