[Q] downgrade to 534 Stock from nut's prerooted 136 rom

So i managed to install nut's prerooted Rom 14.2.A.1.136 Android 4.3 and Dualrecovery . Everything works flawlessly. Will donate some money to that guy for sure.
Question is, if i decide to downgrade to the stock rom ...534 or upgrade to nut's kitkat prerooted rom, is there any chance to hardbrick the phone ? What's the common procedure to downgrade to the 534 stock rom. Just flash it using flashtool ?
Thanks guys
Why do you want to downgrade?
Using flashtool (with a full FTF file) will mean you lose root.
If you want to upgrade then just follow the instructions to install it, flash the .zip in recovery and then the stripped FTF.
There really is no need to worry if you follow the instructions.

You will lose root if you flash a 534 full FTF
Also, you may lose IMEI number, but that's not a problem as you will get it back when you upgrade. If you are not going to do it, why ask?
Once you have root you do not need to downgrade again to update, just update.
thx man appreciate it. Well i'm asking because i am curious , that's all

That's good... I like that!!!
Curiosity is what will lead to more development, and everyone has to start to somewhere. I really appreciate the fact you are trying to learn instead of so many who just want a "quick fix, one button solution!..
welcome to XDA!!!
Maybe He needs to downgrade to stock or operator firmware due a warranty situation.
I've downgraded a lot of times to stock .534 and never had any problem. You can root anytime and wherever you want that stock version.

Reverting to Stock

Hi guys.
I have a phone that had a custom rom, but wanted to flash back to total generic stock rom (ie selling the phone), so that the user can get typical OTA updates.
I followed instructions and downloaded the generic AU ftf and flashed it, and it looked like it was back to a stock rom.. but then the system notified an update was available (good).. but the update failed with an error along the lines of this phone has been modified.
Did I miss something .. (do i need to do more than flash an FTF? ) Does the ftf have a stock recovery. ?
Thanks!

To make OTA work, relock your bootloader/restore TA (if you are already done that), unroot then flash full generic FTF for Z1 with stock kernel
And flash full FTF will revert the recovery back to stock

[Q] How do I get the 4.4.4 OTA update?

I wasn't thinking and I didn't take the OTA update on my M8 HK before I went s off and rooted with TWRP. Is there any method I can use to go to 4.4.4 from 4.4.3 without having to do a factory reset? I guess I'm so new to this phone I need a step by step.
Since you're S-off you can flash the latest firmware and flash a 4.4.4 ROM afterwards. No need to go through the hassle of taking the OTA. That would require installing a stock ROM and flashing the stock recovery to your device.

When you say latest firmware is that only the firmware zip and not the whole system dump? That term is where I get a little confused sorry I've been out of the flashing scene for a while with unsupported phones.
When I say firmware, I'm referring to radios, PRI, etc. Look in the first post of the link below for the modified firmware for the 3.30.654.2 update.

So the firmware is the only difference in 4.4.4 vs 4.4.3?
I flashed the modified firmware via hboot

questions flashing lollipop roms...

so i purchased a note 4 off swappa that was rooted it I was looking at flashing a lollipop rom. the phone is currently running android 4.4.4 and baseband n910tuvu1ank4, and kernel 3.10.0-2796035, [email protected] #1. I haven't flashed a rom since my note 2 so my memory is a bit fuzzy on the process. Do I have to update all of this before I can go ahead and flash a custom lollipop rom? if so could anyone be kind enough to walk me through the process? I am also running At&t off the tmobile phone. (would this explain why when I click software update, nothing happens? The phone doesn't even go to a page to try to check.) Thank you to any one that can provide assistance.
Follow the guide here to update to Lollipop before flashing a Lollipop ROM. In this thread you'll find all the files you need to update, root, and get a custom recovery so you can begin flashing ROMs. Most ROMs will have installation instructions in the first post of the thread.

thanks for the response. i have root already but im still on 4.4.4. im looking to flash lollipop roms. Do i need to update anything or can i just flash a 5.0 rom right over my 4.4.4 stock rooted rom? i reread your comment which files do i need to flash in that guide? the two cod6 lollipop files? maybe im not seeing it but in the guide i dont see how to uppdate to lollipop....
You have to Odin flash the COD6 lollipop firmware. Just flash the entire 1gb file. Then follow the steps in that thread to root and get custom recovery back

so if i odin flash the cod6 file that is 1.8 gb that will replace my kernel or do i need to flash that as well? and this will make me lose root. and will have to re root the phone... sorry for the question i feel like a newbie again to all of this....
Yes it will replace everything. Kernel, bootloader, recovery, modem, everything. And you will lose root. But you can just follow the steps in the linked thread to get root and recovery back. And no problem! We were all noobs once lol

[Q] How to make a pre-root 5.1.1 ROM?

I have downloaded .368 ROM via XperiFirm, and is there any way to make a pre-root FTF?
Thanks for reading and replying ~
Hi, I somwhere heard an application PRF Creator. I am not familiar with this app but I think it is the base of creating pre-rooted FTF. I have found some tutorial looks pretty simple use for me.
http://techbeasts.com/2015/07/26/how-create-sony-xperia-pre-rooted-firmware-prf-creator/
I am going to try to create an FTF for my Z1 with this and flash on my device and then tell if that worked for me
Edit: Found an thread on XDA about this tool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904
Download PRFCreator, SuperSU, and XZDualRecovery. Point PRFCreator at the three other files (FTF, SuperSU zip, XZDR zip), click go, go have a cup of coffee. Job's done.
So I tried using this app and it made an .zip file instead of .ftf as i thought it would make. Is there anyway to make a pre-rooted .ftf?
You can make your pre-rooted firmware with that tool mentioned in other replies but if you want root on your device, you'll still need to have root or recovery if you don't have any of those you'll need to unlock yours bootloader(which I didn't want to do for my device because it wipes all data from device(It is possible to do a backup&restore from sony pc companion) in order to flash recovery and your fw.zip.
Or you can hang out a while until kingoroot or any other rooting apps will make root available for 5.1.1 xperia devices without recovery and/or with locked bootloader
Someone correct me if I am wrong at some point.
That is accurate. I have not seen any pre-rooted FTFs. Many people use the misnomer pre-rooted FTF to describe a flashable zip which has been pre-rooted.
We'll i just found out i was wrong about bootloader. You don't need to unlock bootloader instead you can downgrade your firmware check out this tut
http://techbeasts.com/2015/09/18/root-install-recovery-on-xperia-z1-android-511-146a0368-firmware/
Also the prerooted firmware you'll make with PRF Creator will be useful for this method

It seems you didn't red carefully enough.
Most tutorials here already describe that you don't need to unlock your bootloader.
But now you got it.

Note: The guide is "How to create a pre-rooted 5.0.2 stock ROM" BUT the procedure on how to create a pre-rooted 5.1.1 stock ROM is exactly the same.
