Modem/Radio - Moto X Q&A

OK so I have the xt1050 variant, bootloader unlocked. LTE isn't fully supported on the GSM side of the phone and no CDMA carriers in my area will activate the phone, the only one that would doesn't exist anymore. I was wondering if I could flash the modem from another variant, could I use LTE on GSM? Or will it mess everything up? If I can do so, which variant do I need to take the NON-HLOS.bin from?
My device info=
My original OS: Android 4.4.2.
My original system version: 161.44.31.ghost_row.
ACG.en.US
Bootloader: 30.B4
Current OS: cm13 nightly 9/21
Another thing, will flashing/updating modem fix the speakerphone bug? Not sure where that comes in but I was reading the forums and saw that it would but I would have to update my bootloader also, and I can't ?

As you are bootloader unlocked you can update the gpt partition use any latest gpt partition, i will suggest you can try xt1053 lolipop stock rom for all your above problem.

I'd rather stay away from the gpt partition, last time I messed with it, I ended up with a brick. But I will try the NON-HLOS from the xt1053 stock ROM. Thanks for the help ??

Please reply back. I've tried everything I know to get LTE on GSM but it's still sticking with H+. And when trying to flash another variants modem and it still brings up CDMA on here. Any idea why when I'm grabbing the modem from the xt1053 and xt1058. Neither are CDMA.
I went ahead and flash the gpt so the speakerphone works now. That's the only good thing that's come out of me flashing this phone.
I've flashed NON-HLOS and the fsg. From both xt1053 and xt1058 variants. What should I do?

Buy god damn XT1058
Modem exchange gives nothing. And when you speak about LTE, you don't say anything of the bands available on your carrier(s). Get this information first.
XT1050 LTE bands = 700, 1700 MHz (B13/B4)
XT1058 LTE bands = 1900, 1700, 850, 2600, 700 MHz (B2/4/5/7/17)
XT1052 LTE bands = 800, 1800, 2600 MHz (B20/B3/B7)
XT1053 LTE bands = 700, 1700 MHz (B13/B4)
etc.

But oh well. I love my phone. I'll stick with H+

H+ (HSPA+) not so bad mode. LTE usually doesn't have prefect area cover, and weak signal will force phone to spend more energy on reconnection/switching.

Any Moto X can be carrier unlocked. That's US rule from 2014, afaik )

Mine is CDMA unlocked too. But straight talk wouldn't activate the CDMA side because it's not a Verizon or Sprint phone. I know Verizon works and it gets LTE on my phone. So why not on GSM. I noticed when switching to LTE only, it has a lock beside the network. Contacted them and they said it was a device issue. Is LTE locked on the GSM side? This is a weird phone but I love it bc it's bootloader unlocked.

And yes you're right, it's not too bad but it is slower than LTE especially in the browser.

No. Just make sure your carrier supports XT1050 LTE bands.
I would also replace SIM card to newer. It helps sometimes to get LTE.

I would suggest to forget about modem exchange. It won't give effect, and won't turn on XT1050 into XT1058.

[Rogers] KitKat - wait or flash?

What are those of you with a Rogers Moto X doing given they still haven't released KitKat?
I know their forum has a post indicating it's "coming soon", but attempts to get more information in the Moto X section just result in nonsense responses from someone who doesn't even own a Moto X.
My concern with flashing the developer edition ROM is the loss of warranty and lack of Band 7 LTE support. However, I'd be tempted if the latter is not an issue.
I'm not with Rogers but I am using Rogers Moto X's. I have unlocked the bootloaders on all of my phones and flashed the 4.4 dev edition/retail/tmobile firmware and then flashed the kitkat 4.4 Brazil modem file(this will give you the newest modem file and enable band 7 LTE). Performance is excellent, if you don't mind the warranty issue then I'd highly recommend it.

Hmm, interesting. Wouldn't flashing the Brazil modem affect future DE OTA updates?
[edit] Ugh, it seems that the Brazilian model doesn't support LTE Band 1 (which Rogers uses):

Tmobile 4.4.3 sbf don´t signal with XT1052 Europe Version.

Hello Guys.
I flashed Tmobile 4.4.3 sbf in my XT1052 europe.
Every is fine but I had signal.
The only solution that I see is flash baseband of sbf eu.
With this I have signal. LMT, 3G, Edge.... Etc.... But I´ll like use the radio original of tmobile ever that possible.
My operator in Spain is Vodafone.
I saw other thread but is no solution for me because, the People was run a simcard of tmobile and I want run rom tmobile sbf in my XT1052 with Vodafone Spain and I can´t it.
Thanks in advance.
Nothing? :/

You will probably have to flash a correct radio for your phone.
The TMO phone has LTE bands 2/4/17. Your phone has LTE bands 3/7/20.

And prior to that probably adjust build.prop and set the correct APN for your provider.
I don't want LTE because in my region haven't it.
I have radio of rom stock eu. And now I have signal.
I'll think that is possible run with radio of tmobile with 3g or 2g
I flashed patch of kryptonyte and nothing happen for my model.
Have a solution run tmbobile rom with baseband tmobile?

I don't quite understand your situation. Do you have signal but no data transmission or there is no mobile signal at all? In the first case set APN. In the second case something went terrible wrong during flashing. Dirty flash is possible reason what caused impact of two different systems. I assume that you have bootloader unlocked. Go back to stock and make a clean flash.
The answer is very simple. Tmobile stock rom 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 don't work radio with her baseband. Nothing of gsm, 2g or 3g. Nothing of data. WiFi yes.
The only solution is flash radio/baseband of rom eu or uk 4.4.2 for have signal and can make calles, data etc etc.....
I want work with the baseband of tmobile because I think that is better that work for other no original baseband like eu of uk....
Do you understand me now?
Sorry, my english is very poor.

What are you trying to tell me is that US Tmobile Moto x can only work in the USA, what is not exactly true. Partially is correct for LTE but not for gsm or 3g. Tmobile's Moto x supports almost the same gsm or 3g frequencies as any European phone.

As I said dirty flash is possible reason. Try to get back original entire system (if you're unlocked) and this time totally follow the instructions.
I have unlocker version.
Flash total clean with adb....
Nothing of signal.....

He says that he flashed XT1053 4.4.3 to EU version XT1052 and had no cell signal.
This is normal. You won't get signal on XT1052 when running on XT1053 modem firmware.
I did the same thing some time ago but the other way. I flashed XT1052 firmware to my XT1053 to get more EU languages. But I had to flash XT1053 modern files to get it working.
Why are you insisting on running XT1053 modem firmware on XT1052?

Yes that appears to be correct. I do not have a Developer Edition, but there is only one set of images for Verizon, which does have a DE device available. The firmware is the same, to my understanding, but the bootloader is able to be unlocked officially via the Motorola website.
Here are the firmwares you'll want. Ensure that if you pick one, you can only go UP in version, not down. So verify which version is on the phone first. You can only flash that version or a higher version (upgrading) but cannot downgrade to an older version. That will cause problems.

XT1060 is the model for Verizon.
Google what bands it uses. Then compare to what at&t uses. I've seen in here people using it on tmo Idk about at&t. As far as which version to mix with your phone I'll bow out to someone with more experience with that
Edit: and next time you post make sure you put what MODEL phone you have and the software version. Would've saved some time possibly.

Flashing Radio for 4G LTE Bands

I have an XT1058 in Pakistan on Rogers 5.1 ROM but the LTE band used here is band 3 (1800 MHz), which the XT1058 does not support. I haven't tried running LTE on it yet but can I flash XT1052 (Europe and Asia Retail) radios on my phone? Or flash whole SBF? Is there any way to unlock band 3? Would it brick my phone?
@KidJoe Please help.
Thanks

Band support on the 2013 X relies on hardware and software(rom/radio code), BOTH have to support the bands you want to use. If the hardware doesn't support it, flashing a rom/radio that does wont help.

US Cellular V405UA bands

Hi,
Does anyone know which bands are enabled on the US Cellular v405ua firmware? I currently have the 20a QA firmware flashed which has pretty much all bands enabled, but there haven't been any updates to it. I was thinking about flashing the US Cellular 20e version, but am not willing to lose any bands.
