I'm new to android and i got myself the SM-G890a. Great choice when it comes to learning how to root am i right?? ha ha jk, but I got a z3x box, i'm running 5.1.1. and i have (obviously) AT&T. How would i be able to root? And if there is a way, PLEASE be specific. As i said before i'm new to all of this and all i want is to root. If that's not possible, how about a system-less root?
Z3X does NOT root the phone, Z3X requires for the phone to be rooted for certain options to work.
S6a is actually rootable with Kingroot, but the problem is two fold:
Android version 5.1.1 and later on this device has a kernel that goes back afterwards and removes the root, also DM-Verity won't allow the device to boot if the ROM code checksum doesn't match the signature.

You'll see plenty of posts about this, but I believe unless you have a bootloader that can be unlocked, there is no root for 4.4.2

true but all sprint Moto X's can be unlocked; it just voids your warranty.

get a bootloader unlock code from Motorola - voids your warranty but it is the only way once you are on 4.4.2.
Yeah, when it comes to 4.4.2, unlock your bootloader via Moto's web site (which voids the warranty on non-Developer Edition phones) -> https://motorola-global-portal.cust...e/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a/action/auth
Then root by following -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/instructions-unlocking-rooting-dev-ed-t2649738
I used Kingo Root and it worked well but soon after restart (or randomly) it showed unroot status again, so I had to do it again. May be new versions fixed it as I have moved from Moto X
Everyone seems to be on the 4.4.2 update

You need to root first, then ROMs. ?
Already rooted and safe strapped. Just know that on previous devices if you flash a lot different kernel on a locked BL The device was rendered paper weight status

There's a few ROMs in the Dev section. Not many, as most seem to prefer keeping the unique moto features and run stock and customize with xposed and gravity box.
---------- Post added at 11:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:56 PM ----------
Cm and aosp ROMs don't have moto features I should have said.
If I unlock and root my VZW Moto X via the Chinese middle-man method and then install Xposed + GravityBox, can I still accept future OTAs without losing root, without losing BL unlocked, and without breaking Xposed?
As long as your unlocked you can flash custom recovery and flash and radio/system/etc.

Short version. Once you unlock the bootloader, you'd have to manually issuing fastboot oem lock will relock the bootloader. Yes, once rooted you can install Xposed and Gravity Box. Future OTA's require you have stock recovery, and be as close to stock as possible (all bloat there, proper/unmodified system files, etc). You will likely have to DISABLE Xposed. You will likely have to re-root, which is easy when your bootloader is unlocked or you have the code to unlock it.
For more details, Read -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-Unlock1.htm it will answer your questions, and more about unlocking. And -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-OTA.html will answer your questions about taking an OTA in the future.
I am a newbie for nexus lineup. I am going to jump to N6 from oneplus one. As far as i know from search, every post says N6 can only root after unlock bootloader. So i just want to know can i root without unlock bootloader? And is it possible to get update OS from OTA after bootloader unlock?

you cant root your device without unlocking the bootloader. to root, you need to flash a custom recovery, then flash the supersu.zip file. none of which tou can do with a locked bootloader. in order to flash a custom recovery, you need to unlick the bootloader. and you will get an ota with root, but you cant apply it, so its pointless.

You may be able to do this by using chainfire's autoroot tool. But why the reluctance to unlock? It's not difficult. Unlocked bootloader has no effect on accepting OTA. On the other hand, root will prevent you from accepting OTA. It's easy to fastboot flash back to stock when a new OTA becomes available. And it's even easier to download the Google factory images and fastboot flash them. Plenty of "how to" threads on the general section.
With that said, the only reason I can see for not unlocking your bootloader would be if your employer has restrictions, or your are really worried about someone stealing your device and getting your personal information.

Rames root......So just wanted to see if anybody knew if this was bogus?
I've never heard of Rames Root, but I'm sure if there was any legitimate root method out there for the S6 Active it would show up somewhere in this forum.
Edit: By the looks of it, Rames Root is a guide only for the S6.

Need help badly:
I Lost OEM unlock option when I installed a custom rom. I have waited for 7 days and the option wouldnt appear in the settings. I believe if I reboot this, Id be stuck in binary blah blah and Id be back in stock rom again and be jailed for 7 days.
Im currently rooted. Ive read an article about DrKetan OEM patch. Can I be able to install that without using TWRP? Like the app Flashify or Flashfire?
Any insights please?
Thanks
I wish to restore my TWRP backup but I cant get to TWRP as I believe id be stuck in " only official binary blah blah"
I first unlocked the boot loader but didn't worked than I was unable to find the one unlock option again in developer mode even after reflashing the firmware.
In the Odin mode it is written oem lock off
Can somebody guide me how to show that option again

Some roms hide the OEM unlock option to avoid accidentally switching it and then locking you out ie only official binaries. Search in the thread of the rom you are using to see if that is the case.
