I'm on 0.6 with bricked kernel. How do I upgrade? Full wipe or just cache and dalvik cache? Assuming bricked kernel will still work...can't see why not

I wipe/delete factory reset and wipe dalvik cache. Flash the zip, then restore data using cwm. It works for me.
I just did wipe cache & dalvik cache, installed the zip and it went OK.
I took a nandroid backup first, just in case, but it seems to be fine.

So far I've seen Cyanogenmod9 screenshots on Touchpad only in landscape. Is it possible to use ICS on touchpad in portrait mode? Could somebody with alpha1/2 post a screenshot?

Hi all,
I have a problem with this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203700
I install the .zip file with CMW.
After wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, format system I reboot.
And the phone does not boot.
It stops at the LG logo.
Any solutions?
I tried also with TWRP

Dude 1st: format/wipe everything
2nd: install/flash rom
still nothing...
I install it again without re-flashing kdz
is it right?
or I need to flash the kdz, wipe all then install?
now I use TWRP recovery.

Probably now you have some kind of tutti-frutti of files in your phone...
Better flash your phone with .kdz or other method, after that follow the tutorial.
Did you flash from ICS? You need to be on V20 (JB) before you flash it.

Oh, just realised you stated you formatted system. You're not supposed to do that since /system contains the ROM, so it wouldn't boot past kernel logo.

Then what I could do?
Now I am on v20a with TWRP installed.
I need to reboot into recovery, do a factory reset, system wipe, cache wipe, data wipe and then install?
TWRP is the same of CMW?
Thanks

I sugest you to use adb instead of terminal.
Once that you facrtory reseted the phone, check if you didn't forgot nothing... root, etc...
Try install SuperSU if you have Superuser.

Please try Factory Reset in recovery "Wipe data factory reset" first. If still fails,
1. Flash philz, reboot recovery.
2. Do All Wipes and formats.
3. Flash Rom
4. It should boot

Wow. Okay First thing first
1. Can you boot into recovery? Otherwise can you boot into download mode?
2. If you can go to recovery, try flashing PhilZ-cwm6-XXLTA-ATL-5.15.0-signed safe kernel with recovery, then reboot recovery again.
3. Do factory wipe reset, followed by "Yes, I want to install a new ROM" Super Wiper.
4. Wipe caches, dalvik cache followed by format data, system, cache, preload in "mount and storage".
5. Flash your rom again, read whether it's installed successfully and reboot system. Otherwise try flashing another TW based rom (DO NOT flash AOSP/ KK roms!)
6. If flashing another rom succeed, that means u might have a bad download. Try redownloading your rom again.
7. By still able to go to either recovery or download mode, your device is still rescueable, so do not worry too much and do lots of searching. I was able to rescue mine when I soft bricked it.
8. IF you can't boot to recovery or still fail to flash any rom, I suggest you flash a stock rom using odin n see if it boots.
9. If and IF everything else fails, I hope @AndroidSlave or @nokiamodeln91 will be able to advice you as both of them are few of the good experienced "doctors".

Here you are right to download page http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=25295#files Credits belong to @Phil3759. You are on CWM recovery, I don't know why but that CWM isn't able to format preload. Use phil's and all's good to go

Hello everyone.
Lately I had this frustrating problem with formatting the cache through any recovery I ever had. ALWAYS!
How flashing a ROM goes:
- I'm powering off the phone and enter in recovery.
- I select Wipe Data/Cache (Or Wipe for a new ROM option in CWM)
- It starts by formatting data and next is cache, where I get stuck.
I don't have many options. I can either pull out the battery or wait a while. Oh, no worries, after 5 minutes of "formatting cache" it reboots, with the current ROM messed, obviously.
It's annoying because no one seems to have this problem and it happens every single time when I wipe.
Hope there is someone who will bother helping me out with this.
P.S. - I'm no expert, more like a noob, so don't ask me too-technical questions.
Thankiees!
switch to latest TWRP
flash stock om once with odin
wipe data and cache with stock recovery once
then install latest TWRP
