Unroot blinfolded? Note 5 ink covered entire screen. - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, so out of nowhere my Note 5 had a patch of ink on the screen that grew overnight, and now the entire screen is black, but the phone works normally it seems. My warranty is still good, so I need to send it to Samsung, but I worry that they notice I rooted it. Wat do?
Can I unroot blindfolded?

I'm pretty sure there are 2 kinds of warranty, software and hardware, just tell them you need a new screen and that's it, i might be wrong so search for the software and hardware warranty thing

This is why you shouldn't buy Samsung phones. I was overseas when this happened to me, and because I didn't buy it there - they said no..
Just replace the screen yourself. Samsung support is among the worst for warranties.

DEAD Galaxy Tab. Samsung Center said the Motherboard problem.

Hi all. My TAB is dead already. it's dead just normally not because of flashing or rooting process etc. The battery drain to below 10% before i go to sleep and left it without charging it. I don't think its the cause it's dead.
Btw, when i wake up tomorrow morning, i found it dead then, i connect it with the charger but nothing happen. no lights, no display, nothing show up.
After trying all the combination of keys that i found on google to wake it up, it still not helping.
For info, my Tab is already being rooted and flashed with Overcome 2.0.1 ROM from the first day i bought it a months ago. Its act like a normal before its really dead.
So, I send it to the Samsung Center (Malaysia). After a week, i got a call from them and they said my Tab Motherboard is fault/burn because of 3rd party software that i install on it. I think they mean the rooting & unlocking the Tab. So that, my warranty is VOID! and i need to pay around RM700 (USD 230.49) to change the motherboard if i want.
what you think guys? Does rooting/flashing a Rom will effect the hardware or its just their excuse?
..// sorry for my bad english btw.
i think by this money you better buy new tab .. how come you unlock your tab ? i thought all the tabs in malaysia are Unlocked .
did you try to keep it in charge for at least 4 hours and\or , in USB plug it to your computer and keep it plugging and see , ( this method may and may not work ) ..
but serious 700rm they are taik

A third party software making the tab's motherboard to get busted?! Honestly, can you believe that? If i were you, im going to fight it out with samsung!

You had overcome on it. Overcome allows for overclocking. Overclocking (even if you didn't do it) equals a voided warranty. it's made clear in every post that flashing the device voids a warranty. If you choose to fight, you won't win. This is why there are posts to restock the tab for sending back...

Yes Overclocking can destroy electronic components because of overheating. That is the main reason for me to remove overcome as my tab was abnormally warm compared to stock gb when I had gold flashed to it. I did not even touch any of the oc setting.....and may I add that I am in the Middle East where heat is an issue...

kinda similar with mine....now my gtab still on samsung centre. this morning tried to check it out and it was told that i will receive new korean battery & new machined
the customer service told that before i upgrade to gingerbread (also in samsung centre) my gtab is being rooted??
the question (in my case), is it possible to detect that my gtab was rooted since they (samsung centre) already upgrade it?
well alisabki, its kinda hard in your position....have you tried to look after the mother board on ebay/amazon perhaps? to get the alternatives price?
last night i just read (forgot the sources) that cost to build gtab is only $241 (part+labor)
come to think of it, i guess frequent flashing and trying new kernels may cause wear and tear to the tab. refers to my response here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14765324#post14765324
The service centre person told me they replaced the motherboard and the battery. I am staying stock for now.
Well folks,
Just pick up my gtab and it os i got new korean battery and new machine dunno what they mean with machine here i guess same with u, motherboard with free warranty power.
They said,"my gyab was being rooted" but they already upgrading to gingerbread so they helped me with free warranty.
Imho, my case happened because i had install couple application that required root such as adfree, quikreboot, etc and perhaps the officially gingerbread doesn't comfortable enough which is i haven't rooted
Fel good to be back with this magnificent 7
genuine asia gingerbread
I'm having a hard time believing that it's actually toast. If you'd like me to take a look at it, just PM me as I'm very familiar with fixing bricked TAB's in any condition.
I hard believe that they can recognize that you rooted your phone or whatever since they said to you that your motherboard is gone.........so, unfortunately it is also happened to me today, it's not the first one that i flash my tab but today i've hard bricked it, sent back to Vodafone, told me to wait 1 month (#[][]###[##!!)
Dammit, never brick a phone, well used to HTC never bought a Samsung and in all honesty i was thinking to change my beloved HD2 for a Galaxy S 2 but i've found very risky to flash those Samsung phones so changed idea and waiting for new HTC devices with bootloader not locked.
Will let you know for news from Vodafone but if they will say me that brick was because i've rooted it then i want proves of that, if they can see that then they can resurrect the phone without change motherboard...am i right?
Well, i love Overcome Rom. Its getting better and better. Yap. Like Pitbull, im also the battery-wh*re.. i dont care so much about its performance. Im not doing heavy stuff/work on it. i got my nexus one btw to trying or playing overclocking etc... im just using my tab to surfing, file transfering/dropbox, movies, and even games sometime which i think it's 1ghz power is still doing its job.
What is my really problem is they (samsung center) say my warranty is void because of 3rd party software that i install on it. i think its just their excuse. the overcome rom that i use is already a month old. nothing wrong with the 3rd party software that i've install.
Declan79, its possible to detect if we root it or not. in my case, they just change the motherboard and they will turn it on just like normal. for example, my pc dead because of the motherboard. i change it to the same model and walla.. its fixed! its the same concept..
the cost to change the motherboard is cost me around USD263.27 which is more expensive + no warranty. so what? everything is expensive in my country.
you're so lucky Declan. even you void the warranty by rooting it, u still got it repaired for free..

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Note N7000

Hi everyone,
First off, my samsung galaxy note n7000 has a strange battery problem. It charges really slowly in the wall but seems to be faster in a pc, and when it finally gets to 100%, I get the notification that says 100% charged; so I unplug and it quite literally jumps to; 1%, 67%, 84%, 15%, it differs everytime. Ive tried a factory reset and wiping cache paralition, nothing has worked. :crying:
This brings me to my second problem, a few months ago I dropped it whilst working(I'm a farmer, which explains why I dont know how to fix it) and the screen glass smashed, but the touch screen works perfectly however if I take it back to the store, will it still be under warranty? Ive only had the phone for six months.
I have tried numerous chargers and batteries, doesnt fix the problem. If its not under warranty, would it be worth waiting for the official samsung ota update to android 4.1 jelly bean, or will the problem carry over.
I hope somebody could help me with this problem and give me advice about whether I'm covered under warranty. Thankyou

Dear kylegriffies,
First on the battery problem, I can think of two possible explanations: 1) the battery aged, you need to change a new battery. But as we have seen you had down it before, so it must be a phone hardware issue. 2) There is a damage in some voltage detection unit, maybe a water damage or something that made it short a little bit?
For your the screen damage, that is an accident I guess. If you have insurance for accidental damage I guess you can fix it, but if not, the screen is not under warranty. Try to ask them if they can fix the circuit problem.
The best way I suggest is taking it to Samsung service center regardless if you have voided the warranty. Sometimes for luck too.
P.S If you work in the farm, I recommend a Otterbox case(if you get your screen replaced), so even if you drop them it's not likely to be damaged.

yeah bought a case as soon as i smashed so it never got worse and i dont have insurance unfortunatly... however, even if my screen is broke, will they still fix my battery problem? if it was a hardware issue... how could i resolve it?
cheers
Samsung will change it in warranty. I see no reason since battery related unit and screen is pretty irrelevant.

Note 5 screen bleeding dead pixels after drop

i dropped my note 5 yesterday it was not a hard one. I dropped it from a table and since then left side of the screen is turning purple black, it is spreading and getting larger with time im attaching the pictures. samsung is asking for 150$ to replace the screen and they are also saying that there might be a chance 1% that the phone might turn out to be dead while servicing. its been 1month only since i bought it and about warranty nope as i bought it from abroad and samsung in my country doesnt accept international warranty. what should i do?
time to change the screen...
There would be no warranty anyways as you dropped it..

Brick my Note 8 to warranty

I have a problem with my Note 8, the speaker has gotten wet a little over two weeks ago and it is not working well, I have not even submerged the phone, so I called Samsung's warranty and they tell me that the warranty does not cover that type of sinister for which I have to pay for the repair, then I want to brick my device to the point that I never turn it on again and so I change it for a new one, does anyone know how I can definitely brick? my version is Exynos, I tried to flash the firmware of the SD version but Odin will not let me do it.

I have a home owners insurance that covers theft, loss or damage to mobile devices too. Maybe you could try that if you have one too. BTW why isn`t water damage covered when its IP 68 rated?

It looks like my previous post did not post so i will repeat it. The reason it isnt covered is because theres no way to prove the phone did not go past the IP68 rated depth or timeframe.
To the OP. Sadly your method will mostlikely not work and you will be without a phone altogether because you already called and "admitted" water damage. Because of that your warranty is probably void altogether.

Yellow Screen Galaxy Note 9

Hi, after the March update, I found my Galaxy Note 9 screen turned yellow..
I turned off the screen, unlocked the screen and the screen back to normal..but the yellow screen will reappear...
Some people say it's a hardware problem and replace their LCD, but some people assume that Samsung technicians don't want to get dizzy and just say "you have to replace the LCD"
There is someone who brought this to the Samsung center, the technician just looked without checking further and said "the LCD has been broken" and he fixed it via safe mode (IDK the detail)
And some people solve this problem with FW flash via Odin..
I'm curious, do custom ROM users experience yellow screen too? is this really a hardware problem?
Thanks, and sorry for bad English

Those affected should. Samsung is greedy to force for hardware replacement instead of fixing their software. Samsung hardwares are expensive. In my country screen replacement for note 9 is about half of the second hand value of this phone.
Have you tried wiping the Cache Partition in Recovery Mode?

Note 9 yellowish scree
hi I've faced the yellowish screen problem recently. My phone is 1 year and 7 months old. I visited samsung service center in my city in India. 1st they told me it was your fault that because of your mishandling this has happened and some brainless person told me to go for replacement which cost around 21000 rs(300$) in India. But then i asked them to find any dent, crack or even a scratch on body or glass if its mishandling. Then i showed them this article. https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-note-9-march-2020-security-update-broken-screen/
Manager head technician accepted the fact that this wasn't my fault any kept phone with him. After 20-25 days now i have my phone with screen replaced without giving a single penny. Samsung is such greedy company that pushes such faulty updates and loot consumers like they haven't looted us enough with such heavy priced phones.

Which city ?.
Because in Bangalore they kept for my phone for a week and returned it without doing anything.
Same issue not a single scratch, dent or bump. Mint phone. But Audio Dead.
They told me to my face and in writing that no Note 9 users have reported any problems after the update.
I told them to visit XDA and their own company community pages but they ignored me.
They demanded that the only way they would help is if I paid 26500 to replace the board. ANd even that would take weeks. Due to present situation.
Another guy in another city was quoted 18K for his Note 9 main board. So it seems they can charge what they want.
There is no fixed rate. They cant even match the rates on their own web site.
Lets just say you got very lucky or you have good contacts.

I am in Surat. I didn't have any contacts in Samsung service center. I went there and requested to look upon my problem. 1st the illiterate girl at the desk ignored me but when the manager/chief engineer came to know about the problem he peacefully heard me. I used my "Being A Doctor trump card" to further make him believe that i was no joking and lying. And ultimately I was lucky. Though i was very much prepared to go in consumer court if that failed.
They just returned my phone and told me to come back when I was willing to pay 26500 for a new board.
I have started a new Face Book Page Called Samsung India worst company.

did not work! can you give more information !?
Looks weird but its working for me, tap to switch on always on display then open the phone with fingerprint or other methods, screen becomes normal !!
So I opted to fix my own phone.
WHat I found was that the over heating had cause some microscopic balls of lead to have melted during the over heating and these were all over the main board. I suspect some got under the Amplifer 98512 IC. So I purchased the part form china for 2$. Purchased a microscope and fix it myself.
I also cleaned the main board in ultrasonic machine to make sure all the small balls were dislodged. Its been over a week and my phone is working fine.
I suspect if you try all the software options and nothing works. Open the back cover and look for these tiny balls. If you see them clean the board and put it back it may start working. If it has shorted something off course you will see the damage. May times just a clean and re-seating the flex cable solves the problem.
I wonder if Samsung return your old board if they charge you for a new one.

The problem started when i turned on the "always display on" option and set the clock to orange. I don't know if this is a coincidence but as soon as i turned that option 2/3s of my screen turned to orange as seen on the attached picture. I tried reverting the options but with no luck. Anyone have any idea what's going on? Did i messed some some settings? I have the latest update installed.
Finally yellow screen fixed in 13 July 2021 update
From what I have heard if you use the gesture navigations instead of the on-screen button navigation method. You should not experience the green screen issue.

If it's an LCD display they don't just turn yellow.
Flash it back to the firmware it was running on.
Rule #1 if the phone is running fast and stable, leave it be.
