just wondering how to put the phone into EDL (emergency download mode) using hardware keys because the phone is not showing up as com# in device manager and the last time i bricked my phone it just worked. it might be a driver issue because i have installed and uninstalled different usb drivers many times.
edit - the phone shows up as an "unknown usb device(link in complience mode)" in device manager

3 days ago i flashed my sgs with Ultibread v1.3
Today i decided to flash back 2.2.1 firmware, but all of my 3 computers (10 usb ports) couldn't recognize my phone.
Try to search any solve of this problem, but no one tutorial has not helped.
What did i do?
uninstall all of samsung usb drivers
clean register of all garbage with "samsung"
reboot my computer 3 times
download latest samsung usb drivers v1.3.2000.0 (25.jan.2011)
get out battery for 15 minutes
try plug in other usb port
take computer, wich never connected my phone, install latest drivers (see previous step) and connect sgs to him...
In all cases, the result is one: Unknown USB Device.
System can load and "debug mode" switched on.
Please, help me...
My PC forgets my SGS on a regular basis. When I plug the USB into my phone it is usually a good 50/50 if it recognizes it.
I have found the best way to deal with it is to reboot the phone while it is still connected by USB to the PC. When the phone comes back up with the USB connected, the PC always discovers it right away.
Also avoid connected through a USB hub if possible, that always gives me trouble.
Omg! Solved.
Ultibread v1.3 and, maybe, 1.4 got issue with check in debug usb mode.
And without this check - windows can't recognize phone.
Solution:
turn on debug usb mode in settings, then put out battery when phone is ON.
Then you can get in download mode.
Case closed
Hello,
I have been using some release candidates of ICS which were available here on my i9000. Everything worked out generally fine. Sometimes my phone crashed and then it wouldn't want to go further than my i9000 and afterwards the google screen. Both screens would just repeat endlessly without the phone doing anything.
When this happened, I was always able to go back to recovery mode and uninstall everything and reinstall the rom. This would always solve my problem.
Now here is my current issue: on Saturday my phone crashed again, but now I can NOT enter recovery mode any more. Whenever I plug in a usb cable or normal cable to charge my phone it shows the calculating sign and after a few secs it's gone and starts all over again instead of showing the green battery slowly getting full.
The only thing which works is getting into download mode. So I tried to get odin to work. I installed kies to get the usb drivers and I opened odin (on both windows and a mac), but it does NOTHING.
Is there any other way I can reset my phone to get it somehow working again? Is there another way to get into recovery besides the buttons or using odin? I know of ADB but that requires the phone to be on....
When you plug your phone in (and enter download mode) what device type does windows detect it as?
Because you can get to download mode normally a "good" sign that it isn't bricked (and even when "bricked" it can be un-bricked)
Edit
Just tested mine, entered download mode and odin shows it connected on Com6, device manager shows it connected as a "Samsung Mobile Modem"
try and install the samsung modem drivers separately then try and connect connect
Hi,
first, be sure that all Kies-services are disabled via Taskmanager otherwise ODIN wont work correct!
then Bring your SGS1 to the Downloadmode, connect the USB_cable at the phone.
fullfill all sections you need in ODIN (PDA-Kernle, CODE-modem, CSC-CSC, pitfile512) klick repartition on
then connect your SGS1 via USB to the PC
Odin will show "connected"
Press start.

Just got my phone into download mode after using the jig, and i have been able to connect to my pc before i seriously F'd my phone by messing with a setting in cwm. I have downloaded and redownloaded drivers from samsungs website, along with installing Kies and that does not recognize my phone. (also i would like to add i am unable to access the phone since it wont turn on without the jig, without jig it just goes into a boot loop.)
THis is what happens when i plug my phone into the computer:
plug in usb (to computer and phone)
let it do its thing to recognize device...
pop-up stating "unknown device" so i click it.
then right-click the unknown device which opens up another window
from this menu it shows Install driver, Update driver and 3 other options.
when i press install driver and update driver, it tells me that the driver is already installed in "device unknown."
At this point i throw computer at wall after 2 days of trying to figure this out.
so messed around and the problem only happens when it is in download mode. but when it is not in download mode it shows up but no use to me because i am trying to flash it to stock. soo i dont know why the error 43 only shows up when in download mode. any help would be great.

Just follow this to update the drivers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571 , same thing as what you have done earlier but this time , when it searches for new drivers, you can do the selection for it.
But first reboot your PC after pulling out power cord ...and try the quick solutions first
Ok sen, so i tried to install the driver manually but i am stuck at the part where i have to install something on my phone to allow it to sync with the computer, since my phone will not even boot up. I am starting to think my dear Capi is going to be a paper weight =(
Hi everybody; I have purshased a damaged galaxy s to try to fix it (for the fun) but no way to get it working...
Here is the situation (I don't know the history of this phone):
- when powering it on, it stucks at "GALAXY S GT-I9000" screen
- I can go to the download mode by pressing the 3 buttons BUT CANNOT go to recovery mode
- I can go to the download mode by using the jig usb
- Odin does not recognize the phone
- Windows (seven 32 bits and XP) says "USB device not recognized" as soon as i plug it to the pc in download mode
- when plugging it to the pc in normal mode I just have the circle of battery charging (but actually it does not charge the battery) and I NEVER get the battery logo with the progressing green bar like with a normally working one.
- Have tried heimdall (on windows) without success (zadig.exe says UNKNOWN Device")
-Have also tried the one click method without success (my phone is never seen...)
- I know my usb cable is good since i have tried it with a working galaxy s
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled the samsung usb drivers and used three versions of these drivers without success
Have you any idea on how to fix it or is it hard bricked
Can the usb port of the phone (the charging mini usb port) be the problem? (if yes it is strange since the jig usb works).
any help please....
Hey, You could try everything listed here in this great USB trouble shooting tutorial by xsenman http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537635
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
so I can connect my bricked phone to a Windows PC by shorting the test points. But the device (Qualcomm HS-USB QLoader xxx) also keeps on disappearing in Device Manager. In most cases, the device only shows up in Device Manager for 1 second and disappears immediately.
Any ideas on how to fix?
Thanks
edit1: tried on a laptop running Windows 10 and another laptop running Windows 7.
edti2: My phone is stuck in a bootloop. I cannot even get it to boot into fastboot mode.
