After hours of googling I decided to write this thread.
I'm working as a phone technician and having a problem with Samsung i9000 with a pattern lock on it.
Customer doesn't know pattern and his google account.
Also on this handset the 3 button trick to get into Recovery/Download mode is disabled.
I have tried many methods of trying to get into recovery mode
-holding the 3 buttons the entire time (this just resets the phone and brings back to the I9000 screen)
-just letting go of the power (boots into the phones OS)
-letting the phone reset once by holding all 3 buttons down then releasing only the power (boots into OS)
-letting all 3 buttons go (boots into OS)
I've tried download mode too just to see if it works and it doesn't.
I already find out that there is a fix i have to install the Download/Recovery Mode fix (3 Button Disabled SPL fix), but to do that in phone settings usb debugging have to be selected which I can't do because of pattern lock.
Also my computer cannot detect phone in device manager after connecting.
There is a mass storage device option selected in connectivity. Phone just keep charging on usb cable.
Any ideas ??
The costumer should show papers that confirms that the phone is owned by the costumer, then, as a phone technician, you should know how to re-flash the device when you face such problem, if you don't know how to fix that as a phone technician then send it to Samsung Care Center along with the phone papers to be fixed. You should not be posting at a forum asking about this when you know the guide lines of your work.

Actually never faced that handset with pattern lock + 3 buttons disabled + mass storage and bluetooth on.
I tried to describe my problem as best I can so it will be easier to find a solution.
Hi
You can build a jig that allows you force download mode.the method to do so is on xda just search for it,or you can buy the jig from ebay for about £5.

Indeed he should show you the papers, that's way too many things to suddenly not know or forget.
A Jig should help you getting into download mode though.
Can anyone advise me if it is feasible to disable/ enable (by purpose) entering into Download mode/ factory reset/ CWM? This is a good way to protect our devices.
if indeed the phone is his , build a jig and enter with it in download mode and flash a rom with repartition .
OK, thanks for anwsers lads, I will try to do it by JIG and i will post a result.
For users looking what the JIG is and how to build one or buy go into this thread:

hhmmm,
My spidey senses detect a stolen phone!
How the hell can you forget both your pattern AND google account LOL.
Ask him for the paper work for the device... I bet you never see him again.
UNLESS!!!! You stole the phone and made up a story to try and get an answer on how to unlock it

definately a stolen phone becuase you can go onto google with your cmputer and get your account info mailed to you.. i assume he/she remembers his google email?
Yep, it might be a stolen phone, who knows.
But stolen phones are usually barred, there is no signal on them. As i checked there is a signal on o2 and vodafone.
I once stupidly changed my unlock pattern when i was half asleep and was able to move the security pane out of the way by trying to make an emergency call, this gave me VERY limited access to some menus but you might be able to fix it this way.

Hmmmm sorry ruthles but im thinking more and more that YOU stole this phone...
Why is there no sim inserted into the device on the picture you posted in post 1?
Why would you be trying different sim cards in the phone? That has nothing to do with the pattern lock... If what you say is true you should know that as part of your profession.
I also dont think that some one in your position would resort to creating an account on XDA forums just to ask this question.
This all seems very odd...

there would be no sim in the first as most people take there sim out if they put it in for repairs. trying different sims would indicate whether it is imei locked. the third question is a bit weird though.

agree...couldnt possibly be a phone technician as this problem is too easily fixable...
a real technician should have already known about jigs and in my opinion, should have already had an xda account...
all arrows point to stolen phone...
something's really fishy here
hehe too bad the previous owner didnt install Prey or locking apps

I've just got my Xperia Z phone today (6602), inserted SIM card, personalized it and everything, but every single time i press the power button, it enters the demo mode on the phone. The wallpaper and brightness settings always reset no matter how i change it. I went through the apps, but there's no way of disabling it. Is there some way i can remove this thing because it auto sets my phone on maximum brightness and drains the battery like no tomorrow.
Also, there's a widget that says "Touch Here for Details on Xperia Z"
No matter how many times i remove that widget, it resets.

Thank you. I just contacted my AT&T store reps and they informed me this was a floor demo model. I got this phone from Negri Electronics as a new, sealed phone and was surprised it was a demo phone when i paid full retail price for it. If not for your help, I would've gone to the painstaking process of rooting and/or reflashing my rom. Is there a significant difference between the floor model versions and the retail ones? If not, I might as well continue using it w/o the hassle. If i resell this phone later on, would there be problems (lower resell value)? If yes, I'll contact Negri for a replacement.
Thanks in advance. +rep for your help.

Hi, I also have the same problem with the Z1... Not even root resolves the problem because the phone starts to lag horribly - guess it tries to start demo mode and it starts looping.
I tried the *#*#sellmore#*#* but it asks me to activate demo mode and not cancel it.
Someone please help! I can't stand this phone reseting itself any longer.
Thanks
BTW I did activate and deactivate the sellmore function and no change.

Hello guys,
same thing here on a Xperia Z that i have bought second hand from a guy, and i did not notice it untill i got home.
I found a temporary solution to deactivate the annoying demo mode, you can go to Settings>Apps>running apps and kill the process RETAIL DEMO, you just click it and press STOP untill it became inactive.
Also if somebody have solve it permanently, maybe it can tell us, i was thinking to root, but it`s a little bit harder because it`s running on Android 4.4.4.
i have sony xperia e4 dual phone and it perform like demo phone last 6 month please help me that i disable the retail mode

How long have you had this problem, have you done any customizing that requires root? Sounds like a hardware defect to me.

Yeah sadly you probably got a lemon. Two things to try
1 factory reset
2 odin
If both result in the same problem you have a hardware problem and need to contact the seller. If he refuses to refund or send you a new unit tell him you will report him to eBay and if you used PayPal tell him you will report him to them as well. If he still refuses do what you threatened to do. This might sound bad but when you report to PayPal tell them you were scammed and you should get your money back, if he doesn't help you he gets what is coming to him. Of corse you should go back to the page and make sure he didn't state this as a known issue because if he did you can't do anything.

Well I figure factory reset then odin if the problem continues. Odin is pretty safe but there is risk of bricking every time you use it, just takes a communication error while flashing the bootloader to perma brick. Good luck, hope it all works out in the end.

Hello all,
So heres my problem, i bought a Note 8 super cheap from a Rent-a-Center due to cracked back case, so i took it a person in the mall that was able to replace the back cover for me.
I then took my phone home and my kid was playing with it, a few mins later he hands it to me asking to fix, he'd put a lock on and not known what the passcode was i reset the phone....
This was my mistake, as when it came back on it asked for an email address to login with, so i entered my gmail address. didnt work. i then did some looking online to find that my kid had some how turned on the Google protection, and put in an email into it.. so i took my Note 8 with my receipt to the Samsung store who said they could remove the FRP lock as i had the receipt..
2 days later i get a phone call saying they cannot fix the FRP due to the case not being the original case.
So thats how i ended up here, because i now have my phone that i love and wanted to mod or tweak, and been reading up on it..
But now i'm stuck as i dont know enough, and no one wants to help because its not the original case, i do have the imei number etc.. but doesnt seem to matter for Samsung.
I've tried everything that i can find online about FRP locks on Note 8 without any success....
I would be grateful if someone could either help or point me in the right way.
I dont mind reading and trying things to get this fixed. but sadly i dont know enough about the note 8.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice on how to fix this.

This is a clasic issue. The most people take off the oem unlock or have a samsung account problem. When the phone restars boom is lock by frp. I have lock my note 8 too before 7 months. You can fix the frp lock very easy. You need to download an official note 8 stock rom. https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note8/SM-N950U/ or search into xda for note 8 stock rom if you cant download from this site. When you download the stock rom you need to download the flash tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3677072 when you have download the rom and the flash tool. You are ready to flash the stock rom. How to flash the stock rom? You want a pc and a note 8 usb cable and a note 8 more than 80% charged. Follow this steps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPAgVic9GRM very easy way. You dont need more than 10 minutes to fix the frp lock.

If you can remember the email used, you can recover the password via Google, so you can login on your phone...
Just putting a google account on the phone enables FRP. Flashing with Odin or factory resetting the phone is what FRP lock is for... Factory Reset Protection.
You won't get much support here on this issue as it comes across as a stolen/found phone.

if you read my first post, i have the receipt for the phone, it was my kid who was playing with the phone before i had it activated as didnt think he really could do much damage, and if he did mess it up, i could just flash it. Samsung and ifixit said they could remove the frp as i have the receipt, however due to the case being replaced, they will not do anything now due to not the original case. so either i have a paperweight that is useless or someone knows a way round, or can give me someone that i can show the receipt to that will fix it..
Rent-a-center cannot do anything to unlock as its an frp and they said to contact samsung, i contact samsung who tell me to goto ifixit and they can do it, i goto ifixit and they said on the phone that can fix, but in person they say they cant fix due to not original case.

I understood the OP... I stand by my comment.
I Honestly think that changing the back cover does not constitute any type of violation to consider not servicing a lawful owner, the only really important factor always is LEGAL OWNERSHIP PROOF
these posts about bypassing frp appear from time to time, and always are from people that never return to post anything again

The fact that you have a receipt doesn't mean anything to us on here because we didn't give you the receipt and anybody can easily make one nowadays.. You're saying that they won't touch your phone because it's not the original case? I talked to someone I know at IFixit and was told that the case has nothing to do with it since the phone doesn't need to be opened up anyway in order to remove the FRP (Factory Reset Protection) You also said.. "I then took my phone home and my kid was playing with it, a few mins later he hands it to me asking to fix, he'd put a lock on" It would take a lot more than "playing" with it to magically end up with a gmail account and password on it.. Your kid would actually HAVE to HAVE a gmail account.. What you're saying isn't holding much water and it's exactly why we don't help people bypass the FRP security lock..

firstly heres a copy of the receipt, which Phil at Ifixit (402-932-0187) in Nebraska Furniture Mart confirmed, as he called the store and came into the store on his day off and talked to me and Justice Keene at the store.
https://mega.nz/#!tlkxHAIA!r4ooTH9Scy9yVwrPzk8b9gSY4OiNs4gK3xPWNL1Av5Y
as u can see the shop owner wrote on the receipt, included her business card, as the information..
That was confirmed by Tim in person and on the phone. He told me bluntly in the store that he would have been able to do it, but as the back cover doesnt have the imei on number on the sticker, samsung wont fix it.
I've put in a complaint to Samsung concerning not being able to help due to the cover. I've also written a complaint to Ifixit at Nebraska Furniture Mart concerning this.
I really dont care if someone even wants to call Ifixit in Nebraska to ask, or call Rent a Center on (402) 408-0710 to confirm that i bought the phone from them.
As i didnt steal or find the phone, i have everything i need including Rent a Centers information, and best part is, if anyone knows anyone in Rent a center, with the IMEI number they can confirm it was a cash sale made at omaha 90th and mapple store.
all i want is someone to help, or if someone knows someone in Samsung, or Ifixit that will help, as the store in Nebraska Furniture Mart doesnt want to help.
you for one thing, should/ must figure out which email your son allegedly registered, as it must indeed be a valid one, as for finding someone here to help you, I think no one is going to, if everything you say is true, I wish you good luck

Did you buy it from Google or 3rd party? I'm completely ignorant when it comes to foreign purchases and their limitations. Obviously, you speak English well enough to give them a call at the US phone number and beg for help. I think even if you bought it at a retailer they might make good. Just gotta get the right CSR on the phone. Good luck.
I'd try to flash the full image, that will sometimes bring one back from the dead.
Try using a different charger.

I bought a powerbank with wireless charging function (interstep 10DQi). I put the phone on charge. After 30 minutes, I took it off and it turned off. Now you can't turn it on. Turn on only if put it back on the wireless charger or connect to wire.
I record video with problem: youtu.be/6eKAO1z-D_I (sorry, new users can't post links, add to the beginning http : // )
I need help. What should I do now?

I agree with @krabman ... if the phone is BL unlocked. Fastboot flash the full factory image (not OTA) allowing it to wipe data. If you cannot unlock the bootloader for some reason (oem unlocking toggle is grayed out in dev settings) then try a rescue OTA, which is flashing the full OTA image in recovery via adb. Instructions on how to do this are on the same page as the OTA images. You're not going to get anywhere with Google with a 3rd party purchased phone in an unsupported country.
Why would you buy the phone from a 3rd party knowing that you may not get any support from Google for it?
Why would you use a charger that isn't certified with QI charging which the phone supports?
Sorry I do feel bad that you are having this issue but to me it sounds like you didn't do you research and broke your own phone.
