Weird Phenomenon Since 8.0 - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

I'm using the N950F/DS and ever since I installed 8.0 my phone restarts when it notices that the charging port is wet? Is this a feature or fault? Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks

I had this happen to me last night aswell. Even though the phone was dry. Also using N950F/DS

Nope don't have that problem. Got mine wet today and it does what it supposed to do

multiple reboots while charging

Stock Raider less than a week old. Keeps waking me up when I heat it rebooting itself 4 or 5 times a night
I like the phone but I wonder if I should take it back for another? and are they all like that?
Is it software fixable where ics and sense 3.5 might solve?
I need to decide quickly as time is running out for return

definitely exchange it while you still have time. it may be a hardware issue! I havent had any problems with the phone resetting on me since I got it a week ago. best of luck

[Q] Battery defect or just a bug?

Hey Guys,
I have been searching for hours now and cannot find anyone having the same or similar issues with the One as me
and I am really becoming desperate..
So, the problem is that I cannot charge the phone anymore, whenever I try to do so the battery symbol becomes grey with an exclamation mark.
I have no clue what the reasons for this are and why it occurs, also this is the second time now that this happens to me.
I have already sent it to the repair service 3 days after I bought the phone, this time it lasted around 3 weeks until it happened again.
So far I am loving the phone and its features, but this problem is driving me mad, any help would be appreciated!
Edit: it ran out of battery and now I can neither turn it on nor is it charging

Have you been using the provided charger? Sounds like they didn't change out the battery you got a bad one. I have never seen android do that unless the battery or something is really broken.

Yeah it's bad. Too weird. You are not alone a couple other people are having this issue just this morning. Like four or so ONES decided they would all just say goodbye at the same time. It's odd as I have not seen any other problems like this until this morning.
Guessing this is a DEV edition or you can't go to a carrier and have to go through HTC? If so make sure to tell them this device has already been in before for the same problem and at this point you want a new device not this defective one.

You were using the stock charger and verified that the USB3 cable it comes with was intact?
Yes and the Samsung desk tried 2 other cables

Well, you know the people that make our phones are humans not gods. So, it could be that they forgot something from the build that caused that issue. If you got a new phone then that's good, though.
No u had to send it to samsung. Havnt heard anything yet. I wasnt complaining either I just wanted to see if anyone elase has had the same issue.
I have had it happen on my device. It normally only happens on custom ROM. Removing the battery for awhile normally fixes it.

Note8 Freezing?

A number of the Android web rags have published a story about Note8 phones freezing, mostly when doing something that has to do with contacts.
For example
http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/1...-contacts-app-opened-even-texting-speed-dial/
Is anyone experiencing this? My Note8, which I pre-ordered and received early, has been flawless since day one.

@DaggettBeaver Mine has froze up twice, once while accessing Messaging and once while accessing Contacts. Otherwise, it has been flawless.
Froze a few times. Force re-boot or it re-boots on its own. The last time was after a phone call.
Mine froze the first day that I received it. It seems to freeze once a day. Today It froze 3 times now. I called Samsung, and they just told me to out it in Safe mode. And do a hard reset if that doesn't work. ? hope they have a fix for it soon.
I was wondering about this too. Sammobile has an article on it , says only snapdragon phones so far. I have US unlocked and haven't had any trouble with lock ups or freezing.

Note 8 shutdown when is moisture detect

Hey everyone i need help my Note 8 shutdown when detect moisture or when is little wet exampel i have wet hands and Note detect it and shutdown my phone than restart it and than show popup message about moisture detection....but after that i leave phone for 10 minutes to moisture gone than phone again shutdown and restart but now without popup message...is there any fix or soulution
btw this start happening after i update to Oreo on Nougat i not have that problems
If it were me, I'd grab any silica gel packets lying around, and seal your phone in a container that is airtight for at least a few hours, overnight to be safe. This will remove excess moisture. If you still get the error after that, I'd be calling Samsung. These devices have an IP68 rating for water resistance, and it shouldn't even come up.

Yup, either that or inside a bag of rice.
Already a thread about this.

What you are experincing is abnormal, I live in a very humid enviroment and I have not ever had a warning about moisture, something is wrong with your device, make a warranty claim!

I'm not so sure anymore cause if you view the other thread, a number of people are having this issue after updating to Oreo. I never encountered this issue on Oreo though.

Just do a warranty claim, I got exactly the same problem for almost 2 months. At that time I got mad about the whole situation and finally called Samsung, they gave me a ticket number to send my phone back to them and they repaired under warranty.
Since then the phone doesn't do that any more. That has something to do with the mother board because the resolution of the repairs was to replace the mother board.

I imagine that was a complete waste of time and your new one will likely do the same. This is not a hardware issue.
I flashed mine back to Nougat and hey presto, absolutely fine again. Put Oreo back on, issues again.
This is a software issue, not hardware!

Well to be honest mine was a hardware issue, once they replaced the mother board under warranty I never have problems again.

Wouldn't we all have that issue if it was an Oreo bug? Maybe the moisture detection wasn't working properly under Nougat and then was fixed under Oreo. Just a thought, but it's plausible. Based on available info there's no certainty it's software only, at least as of yet.

Well either that or Samsung have another big hardware problem on their hands as this has been reported all over the US and UK Samsung forums, XDA, Overclockers.co.uk Note 8 thread and numerous other mobile sites.....
I find it hard to believe it's hardware on mine though. As I said, flashing Nougat back on the phone and putting water over the charger I get a water drop, moisture detected, phone works as normal and won't charge until the port is dry, then the water drop goes, as it should behave, both hardware and software side of this is working.
On Oreo, water drop detected, phone locks up, phone reboots instantly.
Doesn't look like hardware in my case.

Two things.
1) Correlation does not equal causation; your issue could have been present prior to the update, and the update actually fixed moisture detection in some way as someone mentioned earlier.
2) Regardless, these phones have a rating that is supposed to circumvent that anyway. I would settle for nothing less than a replacement under warranty; these phones were almost $1k new. That kind of money needs to be accompanied by steadfast customer service.
Shoot, the first time that happens to my I'd be getting warranty claim asap. IP68, that crap should not happen.

Then you'll be getting through a lot of Note 8's as they will all do it.
Once again, it's a software problem.

Again? I did that a few times already when I first bought my N8 and S8 Plus to show it off to some folks. It was pretty fun. Sucks that SOME folks are experiencing this but I haven't gotten a sense that this is a widespread issue. Same as the issue of some folks experiencing a crazy amount of micro scratches on their displays when there's just as many other N8 users scratching their heads wondering why they don't have these same micro scratches.
Oh well. I guess it's just life. Some experience stuff like this and others don't. *shrugs*

When you first got it.....
Have you tried it recently now you are on Oreo?
EDIT: You're in the US so have the snapdragon, maybe this is the issue? Mind you, loads of Americans are reporting this issue too and they'll have the same SoC as you. Weird.
