Hey everyone i need help my Note 8 shutdown when detect moisture or when is little wet exampel i have wet hands and Note detect it and shutdown my phone than restart it and than show popup message about moisture detection....but after that i leave phone for 10 minutes to moisture gone than phone again shutdown and restart but now without popup message...is there any fix or soulution
btw this start happening after i update to Oreo on Nougat i not have that problems
If it were me, I'd grab any silica gel packets lying around, and seal your phone in a container that is airtight for at least a few hours, overnight to be safe. This will remove excess moisture. If you still get the error after that, I'd be calling Samsung. These devices have an IP68 rating for water resistance, and it shouldn't even come up.

I'm not so sure anymore cause if you view the other thread, a number of people are having this issue after updating to Oreo. I never encountered this issue on Oreo though.

Just do a warranty claim, I got exactly the same problem for almost 2 months. At that time I got mad about the whole situation and finally called Samsung, they gave me a ticket number to send my phone back to them and they repaired under warranty.
Since then the phone doesn't do that any more. That has something to do with the mother board because the resolution of the repairs was to replace the mother board.

I imagine that was a complete waste of time and your new one will likely do the same. This is not a hardware issue.
I flashed mine back to Nougat and hey presto, absolutely fine again. Put Oreo back on, issues again.
This is a software issue, not hardware!

Wouldn't we all have that issue if it was an Oreo bug? Maybe the moisture detection wasn't working properly under Nougat and then was fixed under Oreo. Just a thought, but it's plausible. Based on available info there's no certainty it's software only, at least as of yet.

Well either that or Samsung have another big hardware problem on their hands as this has been reported all over the US and UK Samsung forums, XDA, Overclockers.co.uk Note 8 thread and numerous other mobile sites.....
I find it hard to believe it's hardware on mine though. As I said, flashing Nougat back on the phone and putting water over the charger I get a water drop, moisture detected, phone works as normal and won't charge until the port is dry, then the water drop goes, as it should behave, both hardware and software side of this is working.
On Oreo, water drop detected, phone locks up, phone reboots instantly.
Doesn't look like hardware in my case.

Two things.
1) Correlation does not equal causation; your issue could have been present prior to the update, and the update actually fixed moisture detection in some way as someone mentioned earlier.
2) Regardless, these phones have a rating that is supposed to circumvent that anyway. I would settle for nothing less than a replacement under warranty; these phones were almost $1k new. That kind of money needs to be accompanied by steadfast customer service.
Shoot, the first time that happens to my I'd be getting warranty claim asap. IP68, that crap should not happen.

Again? I did that a few times already when I first bought my N8 and S8 Plus to show it off to some folks. It was pretty fun. Sucks that SOME folks are experiencing this but I haven't gotten a sense that this is a widespread issue. Same as the issue of some folks experiencing a crazy amount of micro scratches on their displays when there's just as many other N8 users scratching their heads wondering why they don't have these same micro scratches.
Oh well. I guess it's just life. Some experience stuff like this and others don't. *shrugs*

I think you should contact Google's customer assistant for it. As far as I know Google provide a Free Replacement of the device within a year except any physical damage. I might wrong but nothing harms to give it a try And best of luck in replacing your device
Correct except they will replace for any reason in first year, including water or physical damage.
Thanks for the replys guys,i already got in touch with them and they made the ticket and everything but i am pretty much screwed anyway cause they put a temporary hold on funds in my account for the new device they send me until they receive the defective one.And i dont have the moneybfor it right now so preety much a wasted rma ticket.i will try and see if they let me send them the defective one first and then they send me the new one,so the whole funds freezing can be avoided.I hope they allow it.

It's not advertised, but yeah, that's supposedly been the trend. I've heard it's limited to 1 device. It's something they did with the Nexus 5 as well.

I have T-Mobile note 4 which starts overheating and restarts till it cools down, I have tried to go back to stock with no apps installed still it happens. usually happens when I am outside and play games (I live in India and its tooo hot outside), I get that phone gets hot, sure but it has to reboot?? ... and I know the snapdragon 805 has overheating issues.. now how can I battle this issue?
Should I take it to Samsung support, knowing that its most probably the CPU causing the reboots, I don't think the service center would be able to do anything (without having to pay a hefty bill) or should I just give it a go, also since its a US phone and I am in India , I am more skeptical of the service center
Can I try to going back to kit kat and see, or try AOSP/CM , maybe they wont overwork the CPU than intended , I read somewhere 5.0 inherently has some issues related to overheating, maybe I can jut wait for the 5.1 release .
What do you guys think, any of you faced such issues and resolved it? or willing to provide any ideas ?
Something similar was happening to me and I ended up having to replace the phone. Is there a kind of burnt smell coming from under the battery cover? In my case there was.

I am completely stock non-rooted and what you said made me remember something about my phone. Mine must be heating up too because the water sticker has shifted on its own about 45 degrees. I don't know what has caused it but the sticker is still there but you can tell it has shifted by the glue trail.

Hi All,
So I got my Note 5 a couple of days everything works fine except for the annoying delay in opening of Air command menu once the Spen is pulled out.
The issue doesn't always happen and I noticed that its slow to open up only when the device has been on sleep mode for a while. There is no perceptible delay when I have been using the device and take out the Spen.
Was wondering if that's how it is or is there something up with my device.
Any pointers would be of great help.
Thanks.
I just got my note 5 and I have the same exact issue. There is a long delay after I pull the pen out and then once it finally comes on, the delay is gone. But when the pen is not used for a while and I try to use it again the delay is back.

Mine is an Indian version N920G ,Since the issue is not widespread wondering if it has got to do with the variant.
Did you find any solution to it.Anybody else facing the same issue?
Regards.
I have the same issue since the time I bought it.
I also experience this. I don't use the pen much, but find it interesting that, like the OP, the issue happens only after the pen is left in for an amount of time. Then subsequent times in near time to the first, there is no/little delay. Suggests it's a software issue and in that case I'd expect most folks to experience this, barring some hardware revision or variances by carrier version.
Mine is a Verizon U.S. model for the record.
Curious if anyone has found the source of this issue, or how wide spread it is (seems not very wide spread considering how few people responded to this thread).
Just wanted to add my name to this list, I have the Indian N920G running Dr.Ketan ROM L8

ok i get that. can anyone provide anything useful that could help me? there has to be a way to turn the flash off. i'm cool with taking the phone apart if necs.
also, these phones are supposed to be waterproof, at least the video from youtube claims.
alright so maybe i should have started this thread differently, seems like always people want to judge you when you tell them you were drunk and dropped your phone. please just try to frickin help me.
i cannot access quick settings flashlight. no widget available either. i download flashlight apps and they say "another program is using this function" or something. so somehow my phone is convinced the flashlight should be on permanently. it literally works fine otherwise. i would really appreciate input on what i could TRY to do to fix it. if it's broken, then it's broken. my fault and we'll all move on. however it seems to me like if i can find a way to access stock flashlight functions, it would probably turn off. unbeknownst to me, that doesn't seem possible atm.
thanks for any help.
Even though the N6 is supposed to be water-resistant, there may be a short circuit caused by water. Switch off, put it in a stocking or sock (porous but preventing the ports being clogged) and put it in a bowl of dry rice in a warm cupboard for 24 hours. If it's still broken after that then it was probably the impact rather than the water that caused the problem.
Have ya tried to force stop the flashlight app?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Send the device to Motorola. The rice trick doesn't always work, and at this point wouldn't make a bit of difference anyway. Turning on the screen after dunking the Nexus caused the battery to surge, and it likely fried the connector that leads to the camera, causing the short circuit that leaves the flash on. This requires replacing the motherboard, unless you got extremely lucky and the short is in the camera module itself.
Sounds like one baaad day. I've been there myself but not recently. The bright side is you'll laugh about it some day
If you're willing to sacrifice the flashlight and possibly camera in order to use the rest of the phone without crazy battery drain, I imagine you could disconnect the flash unit internally somehow

The 5.96 inch phablet will be water resistant, just like its relative, the Moto X. There are limitations to this feature, especially since water resistance is not even listed on the official Nexus landing page. It is listed on the Motorola official Nexus 6 page though… There’s no IP rating given, because it’s unlikely this model can be submerged in water, but rather splash proof.
This means you can use the handset during a light rain without fearing damage, but you probably won’t be able to use it if you drop it into a pool. The handset comes with dual front facing speakers, with stereo sound, a 13 megapixel back camera with OIS and automatic HDR+. If you’re tempted by the phone, it costs $650 off contract.

when the n6 was released, some idiot put out a YouTube vid showing his n6 underwater, and charging. so, other people went ahead and tried it. it turned out that lots of other oeople ended up destroting their nexus 6's. theres a reason that theres no water resistance rating on the n6..
Agreed, but as I said it's of little importance. I mentioned it only in passing, not making a big deal of it...
Anyone who deliberately puts a $800 phone in water just to see if it's waterproof is an imbecile who deserves all he gets (and I mean "he" - a woman wouldn't be so stupid).

thanks guys. i literally cannot find the flashlight app, and when i remove everything in quick settings except the flashlight shortcut, it does not show up. like it's weird...i could have shorted it and all that, but why is the app completely missing? like i said earlier, i think if i could FIND the app and force stop it, i may could solve the problem. that just screams software issue to me. thanks for any continued help.
and yeah, i don't really care if the n6 is water resistant or not. this thing stayed submerged for literally a couple of seconds. the flashlight did not immediately turn on, it was several hours later after a reboot. so hell this could just be a really odd coincidence and the whole dropping it in the water thing has nothing to do with what is happening. i have no idea. as i said a while back, maybe i should have eliminated that part of this story when i posted and just said "my flashlight stays on, even after a factory reset, and i can not find the "flashlight" app itself so don't know how to turn it off."
honestly i've been far drunker before and whipped out the phone while pissing and never once dropped it. we don't have to evaluate my state of mind but this was seriously a case of just everything going wrong in a single day. again, i just want to resolve this whole thing and hope you guys can potentially provide more helpful answers.
edit: send it to motorola and say what? i bought it i think in september so it's probably still under warranty. but i got it for like $300 on ebay and honestly i'm not sure if the guy was an authorized seller or not.
ALSO i am rooted, i assume the factory reset did not unroot me because it says i need to update the SU binary. i used nexus root toolkit. could i just plug it in and revert it back to stock with the NRT?

You'd have to pay for the repair, since you are not the original purchaser. Motorola's warranty is non-transferable. Thus, it doesn't matter whether you're rooted or not. However, if the warranty DID apply, the fact you were rooted would make no difference. This is a Nexus device, and in general the manufacturers are very forgiving on that detail.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNLOCKED-Mo...t-Blue-4G-LTE-Cell-Phone-XT1103-/281482386847
this is who i bought it from, but again i only paid $299 at the time. it doesn't say authorized seller so i emailed him and asked. still if i look up the N6 warranty it just says "This Limited Warranty extends only to the first consumer purchaser of the Product, and is not transferable" and all that is true in my case. i bought it brand new, only owner. so maybe it wouldn't matter if it was an authorized seller?
of course it states also that any liquid damage would void the warranty. are their liquid sensors on the N6 like there are on other phones, and where are they if so and can i check to see if they were triggered? lastly it says of course root voids the warranty, but before i did root i thought the NRT could easily return me to stock without anyone knowing i ever did root/unlock it. please let me know if all of things are possible. i will contact motorola here shortly by phone and just make sure i can send it in at all, obviously not mentioning the water/root thing.

Hello,

Lets say I am swiping to type a message, once i take the s-pen off the screen, it continues to swipe the keyboard unless i move it even further from the phone. Same happens when i browse the web, sometimes the spen keeps scrolling the webpage even if i am not touching the screen but. I have air view option turned off.
has anyone experienced anything similar?
Thanks

Nope, neither
Update, I sent the of time for you repairs to a Samsung facility in Texas. They did a good job not damaging the phone. So far everything works great, but I had the phone for less than 24hrs. I'll update the thread in a few days
Any update? I also sent my phone in for repair of a similar issue and when I got it back, it seems like nothing was fixed. Samsung wrote that they "replaced cosmetic" whatever that means?
So far my phone seems to be working just fine. Samsung replaced the screen and the s pen. I also wrote a note with a link to a video of the issue when I sent in the phone
started doing the same thing a few months ago. Initially if happened every few weeks but became more common as time passed. Finally sent the phone to Samsung again. Received an email from them today with findings.
Problem found:
AUTO REBOOT ON POWER OFF
Solution:
REPLACED PBA
So looks like they replaced the motherboard or components of it.
