ok i get that. can anyone provide anything useful that could help me? there has to be a way to turn the flash off. i'm cool with taking the phone apart if necs.
also, these phones are supposed to be waterproof, at least the video from youtube claims.

i cannot access quick settings flashlight. no widget available either. i download flashlight apps and they say "another program is using this function" or something. so somehow my phone is convinced the flashlight should be on permanently. it literally works fine otherwise. i would really appreciate input on what i could TRY to do to fix it. if it's broken, then it's broken. my fault and we'll all move on. however it seems to me like if i can find a way to access stock flashlight functions, it would probably turn off. unbeknownst to me, that doesn't seem possible atm.

Even though the N6 is supposed to be water-resistant, there may be a short circuit caused by water. Switch off, put it in a stocking or sock (porous but preventing the ports being clogged) and put it in a bowl of dry rice in a warm cupboard for 24 hours. If it's still broken after that then it was probably the impact rather than the water that caused the problem.

Send the device to Motorola. The rice trick doesn't always work, and at this point wouldn't make a bit of difference anyway. Turning on the screen after dunking the Nexus caused the battery to surge, and it likely fried the connector that leads to the camera, causing the short circuit that leaves the flash on. This requires replacing the motherboard, unless you got extremely lucky and the short is in the camera module itself.
Sounds like one baaad day. I've been there myself but not recently. The bright side is you'll laugh about it some day
If you're willing to sacrifice the flashlight and possibly camera in order to use the rest of the phone without crazy battery drain, I imagine you could disconnect the flash unit internally somehow

the N6 is not water resistant. no one officially ever said it was.
Best bet is to send it to Motorola if not possible open it up and clean everything with 90% isopropyl alcohol

The 5.96 inch phablet will be water resistant, just like its relative, the Moto X. There are limitations to this feature, especially since water resistance is not even listed on the official Nexus landing page. It is listed on the Motorola official Nexus 6 page though… There’s no IP rating given, because it’s unlikely this model can be submerged in water, but rather splash proof.
This means you can use the handset during a light rain without fearing damage, but you probably won’t be able to use it if you drop it into a pool. The handset comes with dual front facing speakers, with stereo sound, a 13 megapixel back camera with OIS and automatic HDR+. If you’re tempted by the phone, it costs $650 off contract.

when the n6 was released, some idiot put out a YouTube vid showing his n6 underwater, and charging. so, other people went ahead and tried it. it turned out that lots of other oeople ended up destroting their nexus 6's. theres a reason that theres no water resistance rating on the n6..

thanks guys. i literally cannot find the flashlight app, and when i remove everything in quick settings except the flashlight shortcut, it does not show up. like it's weird...i could have shorted it and all that, but why is the app completely missing? like i said earlier, i think if i could FIND the app and force stop it, i may could solve the problem. that just screams software issue to me. thanks for any continued help.
and yeah, i don't really care if the n6 is water resistant or not. this thing stayed submerged for literally a couple of seconds. the flashlight did not immediately turn on, it was several hours later after a reboot. so hell this could just be a really odd coincidence and the whole dropping it in the water thing has nothing to do with what is happening. i have no idea. as i said a while back, maybe i should have eliminated that part of this story when i posted and just said "my flashlight stays on, even after a factory reset, and i can not find the "flashlight" app itself so don't know how to turn it off."

great idea...i just tried it and it says "unfortunately google has stopped working" when i "ok google" any other command, it works just fine. i tried this many times and it always force closed the google app. this flashlight app is playing with my head now.

You'd have to pay for the repair, since you are not the original purchaser. Motorola's warranty is non-transferable. Thus, it doesn't matter whether you're rooted or not. However, if the warranty DID apply, the fact you were rooted would make no difference. This is a Nexus device, and in general the manufacturers are very forgiving on that detail.

this is who i bought it from, but again i only paid $299 at the time. it doesn't say authorized seller so i emailed him and asked. still if i look up the N6 warranty it just says "This Limited Warranty extends only to the first consumer purchaser of the Product, and is not transferable" and all that is true in my case. i bought it brand new, only owner. so maybe it wouldn't matter if it was an authorized seller?
of course it states also that any liquid damage would void the warranty. are their liquid sensors on the N6 like there are on other phones, and where are they if so and can i check to see if they were triggered? lastly it says of course root voids the warranty, but before i did root i thought the NRT could easily return me to stock without anyone knowing i ever did root/unlock it. please let me know if all of things are possible. i will contact motorola here shortly by phone and just make sure i can send it in at all, obviously not mentioning the water/root thing.

So today I had my G1 in my pocket with headphones plugged in and listening to audio, as I often do. Then I decided to go down a short plastic slide at a kids playground in a park I was passing thru.
About half way down the slide I get this very abrupt odd sensation, as if I'm hearing and also feeling a loud pop. At first I literally thought someone threw something at me. Then suddenly I realize I must have gotten shocked from my phone. I take a look at the phone, see that it is off. I try to power it off, nothing happens. I try a different battery, still nothing. I try taking out the sim card and sd card and then try each of the batteries again. Still nothing. I'm not sure if it's off any matter, but when I was shocked, the phone had the larger Seido battery (2600mA I believe). The only thing I can get the phone to do is when I plug it into a power charger without a battery in the phone, a whine comes out of the front speaker.
So I have two questions, can anyone explain what happened to my phone which made it stop working.
And is there anything I can try to revive it? What should/shouldnt I say to Tmo if I take it to them to try getting it replaced?
Does this kind of thing happen often? I know pools and phones don't work, but I'd never heard about needing to take your phone out before going down a slide...
Going down a slide depending if its plastic or metal creates a LOT of static build up. You might have literally electrocuted your phone.
Lol when I had a Windows Mobile phone, the Tmobile WIng/htc Herald I would go to touch my phone after jumping on a trampoline and the shock would reset the phone

Bad move having the earphones plugged in -- that's like an enormous static electricity conductor.
Just for fun, have you tried putting in the stock battery? It definitely won't turn on without *any* battery. If you are *really* lucky, you may have just cooked the chip on the battery, although this is (in my opinion) extremely unlikely (but at least worth trying -- nothing to lose).

I stopped in a Tmo store today, and they tried everything I tried, and had the same result. So they ordered me a new phone, I guess it was under warranty since its less than 1 year. But they told me if they find physical or water damage I will be charged $135. Think I have any reason to be concerned? I told the rep at the store what happened, but he assured me it would be fine.
I'm just surprised thing doesnt happen a bit more often. I feel like busting a Mcdonalds lady and suing someone! I just can't decide if it should be htc, tmo, or the maker of the slide?
have you tried to shock your phone again? kinda like EMS would do on a patient with no pulse? it may just shock you battery back... rub your socks on some carpet, rub your hands on balloons, or just jump on a trampoline like suggested.

To start with, since YOU fried it, technically, there should be no warranty, so $135 is cheap to buy a new phone.
Second, if they want to detect physical damage, they'll have to very carefully slice open all the chips on the board and examine them with an electron microscope. Basically, it would cost them tens of thousands of $$ to prove that its physically damaged in order to get $135 out of you... and even then, they wouldn't be able to prove that it was due to you hitting it with static electricity or due to an internal short.
Wow. (Note to self: leave my phone on a bench or something before being forced down plastic slides with relatives/friends small children. I think kids come statically charged naturally;p )
I'm sorry to say my second Nexus 7 despite initially looking good has now popped the left side of its glass and displayed a stuck green sub-pixel. I'm really disappointed as I think its a fantastic device apart from the poor QC. I may try and buy later if I see on this forum that ASUS have got there act together.

Some of them are built so the front doesn't fall off at all... just some aren't prepped quite as safe as some of the others

Instead of constantly replacing a newly released device because of minor screen lift that does not effect normal use how about taking a chill pill, breathing in and out and relaxing?
Mine has screen lift and it still works great! Me? I will wait a few months and replace it once the flaw is fixed in manufacturing and there has been enough time to filter out all the flawed still in stock versions...
When I picked up my first one and it had screen lift, I was disappointed and angry. When I exchanged for a second one and it had screen lift and a non-functioning touch screen, I was just angry. When I picked up my third one with screen lift I just shrugged. Yesterday I picked up my fourth one with screen lift and a loudly popping speaker and I just laughed :silly:

On my first unit I bought at staples and everyone I know local has no issues and no replacements. I have been and will keep looking for issues on them but so far so good.

Yeah, what is up with people, expecting a product without defects? That is just weird.
Hopefully those people get filtered out of the gene pool and we can live in a peaceful future were defects are accepted as normal.

I'll bet that what actually happens is you'll send yours in, and you'll receive a refurb with EXACTLY the same problem. But you're so Zen-like about the whole thing, you'll just smile and go through the process over and over and never lose your cool. I envy your calm.
Of course, you'll have to hope the defect is obvious immediately, because every time you connect a new device to your Google account (and granted, one should put a hard limit on how many defects one accepts before considering the product to be junk) you'll use up a Google Music activation. And we can only deactivate 10 devices in a year. A big deal? Maybe, if you go through freaking defective products like this trying to get one that works decently.
Oh, and that will be another device that shows up in your list in Google Play that you can't delete. You'll remove it from the menu, but it'll be sitting there, taunting you.
Oh, and maybe you open an ebook on the defective that's limited to 3 devices, and then you can't open the book on your new one. And maybe the "remove from device" option isn't there, so you have to go through Google to get things fixed. But hey, relax, right?
If you're happy to sit on a defective device for months with the hope that it'll be better fixed later, knock yourself out. For some of us, the Nexus 7 is a special device, being the only Nexus tablet, and we just want one without defects. This whole preachy routine really does get a bit old.

Here is a rational thought.
How about a device should not have a so called minor screen lift issue. That moves around when you touch you the screen. That when you pick up the device and hold it the damn thing feels like it is falling apart and about to simply break.
Only a fool would accept that and keep the device. It doesn't affect normal use? What are you smoking? A touch screen device with a defective screen doesn't effect normal use? So you're going to keep a bad crappy device for a couple of months because hell I don't know why. So everybody else should keep their as well.
These devices currently have a ton of QC issues. Fact. People will report and discuss them. The only trolls are the people that keep saying people reporting issues etc must be trolling.

Guess how many devices I have linked to my account? lol
Seven GNex phones and two N7s. I've returned 4 N7s but one of them had a broken touch screen so I couldn't actually set it up and on the other the screen lift was so bad that I didn't bother powering it up. Crazy stuff. I honestly don't know why I keep coming back to the Nexus brand after my recent experiences.
Here's an actual rational though.
Only a fool would fail to read and call someone out for something opposite of what they said.
CHILL OUT, COUNT TO 10 before you make yourself look like an idiot again. He never suggested you accept a flaw, he said that repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting a different result is not the best idea. Obviously you want the device, but instead of complaining about it here, which will do absolutely freaking nothing, why not take a breath and waiting a week? Rapid fire returns sure haven't worked for you yet.

Every device has growing pains the the N7 is no different... Google botched the pre-orders and they have a manufacturing issue to correct...
I will TRY and make this simple...
Let say Google had 10 million produced before they correct the manufacturing process / defect.. Now lets say they sold 5 million... That leaves 5 million defective units still on shelves / in stock...
You can continue to exchange it until the cows come home and guess what? Your replacement is going to come from the defective (read: in stock) pile until the defect is corrected and the originally shipped (read: defective) units have been depleted...
Save yourself the headache, stress, tantrums and wait a few months for the issue to be resolved and the fixed units to become the in stock norm...
If the unit has an issue that prevents it from functioning then that's another matter... Slight screen raise is not one of those... Keep on replacing it and keep getting the same (read: originally manufactured defect) unit in the mail... It's your headache not mine and I'm not the one throwing a tantrum in an online forum..
I will wait a few months and exchange mine once Google has resolved the issue and the in stock tablets are that of the fixed variety...

You said you are fine with screen lift. Screen lift is a defect.
So United has a horrible Lost and found system. I called them less then 30 minutes after walking off the plane. I wanted someone to walk to my seat and physically grab it. Since i was near the rear of the plane and the last one out of my row im pretty sure no other passenger would of grabbed it. All they could do is basically tell me to report it on the website and i "might" get a call. The thing is I know and have talked to a few flight attendants and it seems like a lot of the time there co-workers hide the stuff and keep it for themself. So instead of united actually doing a physical check it is pretty much as good as gone at this point. I really have no faith i will get it back. It was a flawless N7 16gb too!. Doubt I will buy a new one to replace it even though i really loved the device, I just have too much other things going on to afford it atm. So if I dont get a call/email in the next few days, it was nice being a part of these forums and loved the vibe here.

This reminds me when I lost my old GBA case on a plane. It had so many good games in there, and the GBA itself. I still had my SP case though, that had the SP and games as well, so I didn't lose everything.

Get a case or sleeve that you can tether to your bag, belt, etc. Also, Case Logic LNE07 comes in red so it's hard to visually miss it.

United Airlines is the worst. From the most cramped planes with the worst seats in the industry, to the worst customer service there is. I used to fly Continental exclusively, but since the merger, no more. Good luck.
Any chance you had Lookout or some other tracking service installed? Sucks man. My wife is a flight attendant and she has turned in several Kindle's and what-not in, so perhaps there is a chance. Best of luck!

yes i have lookout installed.
You never know, I found someone's kindle on a Southwest flight and took it right up to the counter. They said they had already hear from the passenger and knew whose it was. Messing with other people's gadgets is bad mojo.

Can you tell if it's still at the airport? If yes, that is a very good sign that it's probably been turned in (and someone turned it on and connected to wifi...but lets hope that was in an effort to identify you for good reasons). If it pops up online anywhere outside of the airport...it's pretty much gone. Hopefully you changed all your passwords to all your accounts too...notified any credit cards you have tied to any of those accounts, etc.

it wasnt able to locate it which leads me to believe it wasnt turned on and connected to wifi. I had google wallet active on there but no credit card tied to it, just the $10 that came free.

If you bought it with a credit card you might have some buyer protection like, replacement for stolen or broken items. I buy everything with American express, I have a 90 day window in which they will replace if lost, stolen, broken, etc.... Plus they extend any warranty an additional year...
Visa has something like this on a few of the cards...

you need to input your passcode anyway, unless you have it stored in your tablet for someone to find out
I am really surprised that Google doesn't have an easy way to register our devices. Every Android device has numbers associated with it that can't be changed. The MAC addresses for both the WiFi and Bluetooth interfaces are unique, so every device that has either of these radios could be identified. It should be part of the OS that these tablets can't install any software if the registered owner reports it lost or stolen. If the device has cameras, a picture should be taken when it's connected to the internet. These pictures could be retrieved when a valid case number or subpoena is provided. At least a warning should appear on the tablet saying it has been reported lost or stolen. Make it a pain to use a misappropriated tablet.

Someone on another thread said that somebody sold them a Nexus 7 that was apparently known to Google as stolen, and I guess Play access was disabled or something, I don't know the exact details though...
An app is only easily removed if it is loaded as a user app. If it is am system app a standard reset went be enough. On the other hand maybe they will be smart enough to take it further.

A very similar thing happened to me on a BA flight inbound to heathrow years ago. On that occasion i left a case containing some sennheiser noise cancelling headphones and an ipod nano in the seat pocket. I realized just a short distance from the gate and went back but they wouldn't let me back on. They never found for me either. I was eventually told that "I think someone has add it mate".

I have my devices set to take front and rear photos on evey boot and on multiple incorrect passcodes which are uploaded staight to dropbox and google plus. They also text each other with gps coordinates on every boot. Again, this is only useful if the thief doesn't factory reset or flash a new rom.
I wonder if devs could implement a passcode for cwm et al to secure the flashing process?

goto play.google.com and install plan B remotely, youll be able to track it once it's online, as long as it's still tied to your google account

I read on Google's help pages that they can remotely lock a device so might be worth calling them. If someone can't use it they might put it back in lost property or something.
So i have been having issues with my device. The device will shut off, sometimes not charge properly and the device will die and i will have to unplug the battery and plug it back in to power cycle the device and for it to register a charge. So i decided to call and explain this to the "tech" the moment i mentioned that i opened the device and did this they said i had "voided" my warranty and i would have to contact Asus.
Yeah. I voided my warranty by popped open the back and unplugged the battery. This is how i was treated. Also.. I then request a supervisor who then states the same thing.. they give me a "mercy" repair and then proceed to setup a repair, but they have "noted" that i have voided my warranty by "messing with the internal components, and that the back was not made to be opened." That if they verify that i have "messed with this" i will be charged the full amount for the replacement device.
Seriously? I am fuming right now. they pretty much made me feel like i had broken a law by opening up their PLASTIC device. the back is held on by clips.. no screws, warranty stick, or any other type of method of removal. I was told that the "normal" consumer would never do that... and that i definitely voided my warranty.. I am so peeved right now i could hit something. Seriously?!

Thank god i'm an Apple user and i was an ex-Applecare rep and RULE 1, you never accuse the customer of doing anything. You never make them feel like some inept POS because you popped off a battery cover. WOW. Last Google product i buy. Seriously. I have never had a customer experience where i was berated on the phone as some sort of villain.. by 2 "techs" Not only that.. the "supervisor" said .."oh sir, it's not that easy to pop the back off.. you really have to get IN THERE"

I thought the Nexus line was for the "tech savy" you know the ones that can root, unlock, and develop.. yet i was treated like a criminal for doing some basic trouble shooting. I told the tech on the phone.. what if i had bought this 2nd hand and couldn't turn it on.. the SERIAL NUMBER IS ON THE INSIDE LID.. she just said.. "well i understand that.. but you still voided your warranty.."

Is there any documentation that came bundled with your device that clearly provides instructions for how to remove the back cover and how to disconnect the battery? does the device even have a battery that is user removable and replaceable ?
no to both and you knew that... you had to search for information online to perform that and you still did it knowing full well that wasn't allowed.
the moment your device showed any signs of issues you should have contacted Google to get an RMA
Warranty is present on our devices with rules in place. you broke the rules and then admitted to it to a tech and expect something different?
You are not supposed to open the cover plain and simple, if you expect the company that sold it to you to honor the warranty which means they trust you haven't touched anything inside then you leave it alone and always contact them for service. that's your complete circle..
Open your device and you lose that ability because now it is assumed A. you have touched or modified something, B. you know what you are doing since you have opened the device up.
They have no idea what you have done, you expect them to just take your word for it? I'd love to see that fly at the dealership on your new car... The Nexus line has nothing to do with being for people that are tech savy... thats just the general consensus of people that choose ANDROID over IOS.
People buy the Nexus line because they want the full unmodified Google experience AND the latest OS updates from Google plain and simple.
Either play by their rules and leave the device alone and if it has issues notify them, get an RMA and send it back that's what they are there for. not to clean up the mess that happens after you touched the device in a way you weren't supposed to.
Even if you didn't do anything other than open the cover, how are they supposed to know? just trust you? :laugh:

Well i feel for you brother, it's not like you broke the device yourself...that said it's pretty clear the back cover is not designed to be removed by consumers, and you really should have known that disconnecting the battery could technically void your warranty.
While some companies may be lenient with their warranty policies, you certainly shouldn't expect it; so to admit.that you played around with the internals was a little naive i'm afraid. I remember hearing a story about techs at one company being instructed to look for rooted phones that had been sent in so that the warranty could be voided (because technically rooting was a breach of conditions).
But look, you might get lucky and they won't charge you if the fault is obviously not your fault. I hope it works out for you.
I'd have been more surprised if they did NOT void the warranty when you told them that. Its pretty common sense that you should not tell techs that you have opened a device.

Sounds to me like you were treated as someone who voided his warranty. Which is exactly what you did. Sounds fair to me.
It's your responsibility to know what voids the warranty, and you're trying to make others suffer for your mistake.
And the tech savvy people know that when they open up and mess with their devices, they're on their own.
FYI, the Nexus 7 back cover is not made to be just popped off like many phone back covers so you probably damaged something as well.
Taking the back off the N7 does not void the warranty. However, I think there is a "VOID" sticker on one of the screws that keep the battery connected to the device that if removed, this DOES void the warranty. I would look, but I can't pop the back off my N7 because I just clipped my fingernails, haha. But I have taken off the back of my previous N7s various times and sent them all back with out any problems. I just haven't tampered with the stickers that say "VOID" on them.
Obvious warranty voiding action is obvious.

They made it a sealed back for a reason they don't want people messing and you have silly to do it. Its like moaning you have bricked your nexus and moaning they won't give you a new one. Same as in game shops the minute you take it out the cellophane its none-returnable. You should of phoned them straight away when you noticed the problem.

Look. Seriously I understand. I get it. If i damaged the device, the warranty should be voided. But i didn't. Second. Most devices, that do NOT want you in the back would..
A.) Not make the back held on by snaps, that are super easy to remove (please don't tell me it's hard or difficult to remove because it's not) The devices that have tamper proof backs have screws with warranty voiding measures like a sticker that says (VOID WARRANTY) and a screw under it.. Or they would have a security Torx screw.. or something! Go check your devices..
B.) I have spent hours looking and reading the warranty manual and NOTHING in there says you can't remove the battery back. Have anyof you owned a Galaxy S (the original) the battery back snaps on the exact same way. you have to pop it off with snaps all around the edge. Also.. nothing inside the back says "HEY if you remove this you void your warrenty!"
C.) I get the battery is not user replaceable.. sort of.. it's one plug and you pop it out.. but i think the battery is held with glue so i wouldn't remove it.. but come on guys i'm seriously not trying to be a ****, i know if i had opened something that said "DONT OPEN" or there was a screw on back i wouldn't have said anything when i called.. but this is silly.. the moment i mentioned i popped the back off, they threw up there hands and ignored the fact that the device was having issues prior..
D.) In the Warranty paper work it says "the Product has been tampered with, repaired and/or modified by non-authorized personnal:" So opening the back that is easy to open but has no TAMPER PROOF anything voids your warranty.. in that sentence i don't think i did ANY OF IT. I didn't take it apart, unscrew, replace parts, etc.. all i did was open to unplug and plug battery back in.. if thats tampering.. then we ALL have void our warranties on MANY devices as i'm sure that wording is used on MANY devices warranties.
Seriously though I know when i have been beaten. I can admit defeat but the way i was treated on the phone was awful. I can't understand how that is good customer service. Adult conversation here.

The battery connection problem is very common many people have fixed it the way he tried the only mistake he made is telling them about it

Yes i did unplug the battery you know that thing we as electronic users have been doing for YEARS. it was the only way to get it to turn back on.. is that too difficult for you? I like how you probably have never read the warranty insert but are already siding with a company of their "meaning" of the rules.
I guess everyone here would be ok if you mentioned resetting the batteries in your remote control for your TV and they said. OH well you voided the warranty..?

Thanks. Thank you. Someone understands.. I admit i guess it was my fault for mentioning.. it. Now my account is "has been noted" So now i will probably not send it in for repair, because they seem to "maybe" want to charge me full price which BTW is 200 for an 8GB they don't even have it set to 150 as it should be for a device that has been replaced pricewise for the 16GB.
wow the back of the nexus is not like any phone back. there is a groove or a notch to remove phone backs. Thats like saying the ipod back is removable since its not screwed down. I can remove an ipod back almost as easy as taking off the nexus 7's back but I also know I'm not supposed to. It sucks what they told you but crying foul is almost as bad. Luckily they are going to help you anyway

Tried. Multiple times. Nothing.. the screen would stay black. battery wouldn't charge. i had to unplug battery and plug back in.. to get the charger to work. even bought 2 3rd party chargers that work for nexus to get it to respond. nothing. battery had to be unplugged and plugged back in. only way to get my device to work. I guess i shouldn't have said that and lied. *sigh*
Sorry to hear this man, I'm following this thread pretty closely. I am getting a N7 here next week (Christmas, I hope), so trying to see what others issues with it are. I hope this works out for you
- I am in the employee advantage club so obtaining phones is a little different or somewhat harder in some cases being that you have to wait for the employee to approve it.
-Anyways I had my HTC ONE set up perfected, but the camera was becoming increasingly worse with the purplelicious pictures.
-Picked up my phone today from my contact @ sprint and it was all sealed nothing was out of place and it looked good.
-First things first checked the hboot, baseband and android version which is on I 1.44 and android 4.1.2 and so I was happy.
-First thing I noticed the dang power button was messed up when I pressed it it would sag to the right and go inside the phone. I called sprint to activate it the phone once I got it on and it took about an hour of changing ## numbers. Finally good but...
-Now I am thinking maybe i can live with the power button but i noticed something else; there was now vibration from the phone what so ever. I checked every single dang option and everything is enabled but still no vibration. Well I called sprint and gave them my rant about their quality and assurance control which I was very pissed about after waiting sometime for the replacement. Then called my Sprint contact to reorder another phone but this licks. My phone was in prestigous condtion despite the camera and I receive a much far worse phone in return.
Anyways end Rant-
I am curuious if anyone else has had a similar issue with the vibration function not working or just receiving a shady phone all together.
I've been lucky. My first phone blew the top speaker but my second one is perfect. Neither of them had the camera issue.

Had my phone repaired. It came back with scratches (yes, scratches that I KNOW were caused after they opened and processed it), and gaps, and glue out the corners, and a crappy power button. It was dropped once by a person I was showing it to (had taken the case off just for them) and who tried to press the power button, resulting in it falling onto hard tile from ~5 feet.

I must say I have been lucky as well in the past especially with my OG EVO'. They sent brand new ones no questions asked. I didnt have to use Total Protection either for the defects.
I never knew that the purple haze was really an issue. A lot of photos without a quality camera don't work well at night unless you are good at tweaking. Unfortunately mine was getting progressively worse even in good lighting conditions. Sprint will make it right, but it more less a convenience issue. I thought I scored too with the 1.44 Hboot hopefully the next one will have the same Hboot.
I took the firmware update on the defective phone. I get much better battery life on android 4.3 IMO. I wish I could walk in the store and say my phone is tweaked can I get another and call it a day, but being in the discount program with the huge savings I am considered an employee and have to wait for regular or new consumers to get items first.
