thought I was the only one having this issue…
It seems we are on the same boat here in Taiwan... Chromecast connected to WiFi and accessable to the web (wallpaper changes) but no cast...
Reset, restart no helps...

The Kindle 4.x app works on the Nexus 7 but not on the HTC One Dev. The app use to work before I upgraded and restarted the phone. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting phone and nothing seems to work. I had an older 3.3.2.3 version which I installed and that seems to work. Anyone having any similar issues?

I don't have a dev edition of the M7 but I also have an issue with the Kindle App: whenever I open the app on my HTC One, it goes through the initial splash screen then just quits -- no force close message, nothing. It just doesn't seem to work. It's driving me crazy because I have so many paid-for kindle ebooks that I can't read on my device.
Do you have "force GPU rendering" activated?

Yes. Let me try disabling that... it worked! Thank you.
Rats. Android 4.3 update and no more Amazon Kindle
Rats. I've got the HTC One Developer Edition. It's not rooted. I just applied to OTA update to Android 4.3 and my Amazon Kindle app (4.2.0.34) no longer works. It worked great, before the update.
And I've not enabled "Force GPU rendering" in the Developer options.
I'm taking suggestions as to fixes on this. Thanks for any ideas.
Are you using a ROM that forces hardware acceleration, such as ARHD? I believe that overrides the developer settings

No, I am using a completely stock HTC One Developer Edition with the OTA update to Android 4.3 delivered in the US last week.
I got it.
Mine is the HTC One Developer Edition. Android 4.3.
I discovered, if I turn off the Developer settings, then reboot the phone, the Developer settings are automatically turned back on.
With that background, here are the steps I performed, which got the Kindle app running on my phone:
1. On the Amazon website, I made sure my phone was deregistered.
2. I removed any Kindle app from the phone.
3. I turned the Developer settings off.
4. I restarted the phone.
5. Turned the Developer settings off, again.
6. Reinstalled the Kindle app, from the Google Play Store.
7. The app ran correctly and I was able to register the phone, at which point my library synced as normal. I confirmed I can open and navigate books. When I close them, the app correctly syncs my farthest location.
8. I closed the app and found I could turn the Developer settings back on and the Kindle app runs fine.
is there a way to force this update? i'm still stuck on 4.0
Download it and install it manually:

people report mixed results with 4.1
I've noticed worse batter life since I updated, don't be in such a hurry.
4.1 removed the sharing of YouTube videos outside Google+. Every time I press Share it doesn't give me the app options, it goes straight to Google+.

Just an FYI for anyone installing 4.1. I've been using ART since the release of kitkat. 4.1 keeps force closing. Switching back to dalvik fixed it.

Oh for the love of God... I'm going back to 4.2 (jellybean). They've managed to screw the moto x up completely for me.

This is a bug that existed before this update. I had it before, where sharing from Youtube went straight to Whatsapp. What worked for me was to go to Settings -> Apps -> menu (top right corner) -> Reset app preferences.

I don't have this problem on 4.1 (manually updated). Pressing the share icon pops up the list of just about every app I have (dropbox, gmail, email, google +, etc..) as an option.

I second that. I get a list of all my apps I can share with.

Where did you get the apk? I tried one and my phone wouldn't install it?
I rebooted my phone this morning and got the 4.1 update. Running it with ART all morning and no issues.
Is it 4.1.32? If so I guess it updated overnight without me knowing.
I have play services 4.1.31 from manually installing the apk. I guess I'll see 4.1.32 rolling out soon to replace it.
Well I had manually installed Google services update from the nexus 5 I think a while back. Maybe that's the update for nexus 5. How could I go back to what should be on the moto x?
ART will crash Google Play services 4.1.32 because 4.4.2 introduced changes in ART and its compiler. Google updated its apps to provide compatibility with the new ART, which seems to have broken old ART compatibility.
I switched my Nexus 7 LTE (2013) on 4.4.2 to ART and had no crashes with Play services 4.1.32. Switched my Moto X to ART, and Play services 4.1.32 crashed almost immediately. It caused issues in the background since Google Now relies on it, as well as any Wifi/network based location services. It'll kill your battery life.
Does anyone have the nexus 5 Google contacts search apk that also searches web for local. I.e entering pizza in contacts would show result of local pizza restaurants that are not in your phone contacts. Need apk as my phone is not rooted.

I do
It works but force crashes every time you try to call the number...
FC on 442 no root.
Yekollu, thanks for link, installed but its the same as the old one. Still does not web search as part of the contact search. Looks like it a nexus only facility.

Found this to enable root is required and permission changes http://m.pocketnow.com/2013/12/26/install-google-dialer
Since I've no root can only hope that 4.4.3 update will sort ( that's if we get it).

Fixed. You have to enable Google Now. This is absurd. Don't force this on me for full functionality.

I just bought a new unlocked G5s Plus and when I try to use Amazon Music it gives a message that Chrome is out of date. I have re-installed both Chrome and Amazon Music to no effect. Anyone else have this issue? Suggestions?
thanks
david
No problems on this end.
Booted into the stock ROM which has old Chrome v57. Amazon Music is working fine. Updated Chrome to v67 to see if maybe something is not right with it. Amazon Music still good.
Even though it's old, have you tried using the original/included Chrome? Uninstall any Chrome updates and see what happens.
Not sure of anything else other than clearing cache and/or data of either.

OK just uninstalled Chrome and Amazon Music. reinstalled and updated both chrome and amazon music, still no go. Cleared data cache still no go.
frustrating

I called amazon support and walked through the same steps with them on the phone. They are "filing a ticket" and will call me back in 2-3 business days.
we'll see. I have 30 days to return the phone for a full refund, we'll see how it goes.

Ugh, bummer. But I wanted you to try the Chrome that was included with the ROM (old version), not updated. Just to see.
Strange issue. Hope they can fix it.
