I paid full price for Verizon note9 from Samsung dot com, to my surprise I pop in freedompop simcard which is GSM and use att network and i'm getting 4G LTE
Verizon apparently hasn't switched to locking their phones yet. That is good news.
Because it was purchased thru Samsung direct, although it's a carrier branded phone, is the reason why it's unlocked.

Not sure, could be so. I do know for certain, well according to what Samsung told me previously, that Samsung direct currently sell their phones unlocked whether branded or unbranded.

Yeah, there's no reason for any phone purchased direct from Samsung,or any mfg for that matter,to have a SIM Lock.
The carriers are totally out of the loop on the transaction, less having their bloatware pre-installed......
Starting with the HTC Thunderbolt, Verizon branded LTE smart phones have been SIM Unlocked "out of the box" ... I'm not aware of any recent Verizon branded LTE smart phones that are SIM locked. My verizon branded S6, Note 5, S6 Edge+, S7, S8, Note 8, S9 and Note 9 are all SIM unlocked out of the box.
That being said, they may still be restricted on what non-Verizon LTE bands they support (i.e. their software supports all LTE bands Verizon uses, but don't necessarily support all LTE bands T-Mobile and ATT use too.).. And they may not support other carrier features (like VoLTE on ATT, etc) when running the Verizon branded software.

Yeah, that's not true. Verizon phones are sold unlocked due to their deal with the US government back when LTE was starting out. They've since decided to cancel that policy, but haven't put that in effect yet.
Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile phones sold through Samsung are all sold carrier locked.

State exactly what I error'd in saying? you may not have read the OP or my statements carefully.
You stated that carrier branded phones purchased through Samsung are unlocked. That's not correct. Only Verizon ones are.
You said it was unlocked because it was purchased from Samsung. Even if we were ONLY discussing Verizon phones, that's incorrect. ALL Verizon phones are sold unlocked due to their deal with the government.
I read the question, and the response. Not sure what to tell you.
How can I tell if our verizon phones are unlocked? Best buy lowered the trade in value of our old phone saying it was only for unlocked phones. If all verizon phones are unlocked, they owe us a refund!
EDIT: I just googled and checked, and our verizon note 9 phones are NOT unlocked.

There might be some terminology confusion here. The device Samsung sells as UNLOCKED ships SIM Unlocked so you can put any carrier SIM in it, will support all the maximum cellular radio bands, and has no carrier bloat or customization on it (aka unbranded).
While LTE phones from Verizon are SIM unlocked out of the box, they often support only the cellular bands that Verizon uses or feels the need to include, and will have carrier bloat on them. The other carrier variants like ATT or SPRINT sell their devices as SIM LOCKED, with cellular bands they want to support, and their bloat. While you do have the option of getting these phones SIM unlocked it wont impact the cellular bands supported by the carrier's software.
In other words, technically while the Verizon phones are SIM Unlocked (this includes the Note 9), and you can stick the SIM in from another carrier... their software restricts what cellular bands the phone is compatible, and it has the Verizon bloat on it. And therefore they are not the same as the UNLOCKED variant that Samsung sells.
So in my case, since the Verizon Note 9 is SIM unlocked out of the box, I can put my ATT SIM into it and it will get LTE coverage and work (see my screen shot)... As you can see the Verizon software also notifies me that its a non-Verizon sim. The Verizon branded software is missing support for certain GSM/UMTS/LTE bands that ATT has, so if I go to an area where ATT uses a particular band which is absent from the Verizon phone, my phone can't use it, and therefore wont perform as well as a phone that does support all the bands ATT uses.
To understand what I mean... take a look at this page -> https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s9-sm-g960-g965-model-number-differences/ for the Galaxy S9/S9+ which lists bands the different models support. You'll see there are some bands listed on the ATT variant that are not listed for the Verizon variant and vice versa. And compare those with the "Snapdragon 845 Unlocked US" listing which has support for many more bands than either the Verizon or ATT models... (sorry I couldn't find a similar chart for the Note 9)
So if I use my ATT SIM in my Verizon GS8/Note8/GS9/Note9, there is the real potential I wont see the same wireless performance that I would using an ATT variant or "Unlocked" (aka Unbranded) variant of that same phone.
This is why an Unlocked (aka unbranded) phone will have a better trade in or resell value.
That being said, through a series of steps, I could flash the unbranded software to my Verizon phone and convert it to the "Unlocked" (aka unbranded) variant and gain access to those bands (I did so with my Verizon GS8, converting it to the XAA or Unlocked variant). This also likely voids the warranty. Unfortunately if Best Buy, Samsung, a carrier, etc. looks up the IMEI of the phone (for activation, warranty status, etc) they would see its the Verizon model not the unlocked.
They sell them unlocked, right, but I think some have put nag toast notifications about non Verizon SIM cards.

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to buy a Motorola Moto X phone from US through the official Moto Maker site.
At checkout, I would still need to choose a carrier. I'm planning to choose one of the GSM providers (AT&T or T-Mobile) with the ‘No contract’ option.
As far as I know, the phone would still be locked to the carrier chosen. So, does that mean that the phone will be unusable outside of the US?
I spoke to a couple of Motorola agents and I got contrasting views-
One of them said, the phone would be locked to the opted carrier in the US. But elsewhere the phone could be used with any GSM sim.
The other agent said, the phone will not be usable with any SIM apart from the opted carrier, till the phone is unlocked using an unlock subsidy code obtained from the carrier.
So, what is this about Locked and No Contract phones? Also I read in the AT&T's and T-Mo's site that they would provide a unlock code after 60 and 40 days respectively.
And, any processes to be followed before taking it out of US to use with a local carrier in other countries? Like Activation etc.,
Any suggestions or thoughts would be of great help. Thanks!

ok... so this is the deal with an AT&T Motox X off contract. It will still be carrier locked out of the box. I talked to AT&T and they said that in order to unlock it there has to be a least 60 days of AT&T service on the phone.... i think its ridiculous...!!
was planning to buy it and bring it to Germany... but wont work out of the box...
I think TMobile version is carrier unlocked.

EDIT: In the event that I'm wrong, it's easy enough to unlock via a code for not much cash.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
Do you know if I take an unlocked Moto X bought from the US (via the Motorola Maker Website) to India, will I be able to get service in India, or do I need to bring it back to the US if I have any issues?
I'm worried about such things as broken screen, repairs, battery replacement, etc...
Any help you or anyone could give regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
Moto X help needed
Hey guys.. I'm planning to get a Moto X, but in India we dont have the option for the 32 Gb variant and neither do we get the Moto Maker... Does anyone have any info regarding whther these features would be available in the future, and that i could wait for it? Or is it better to get it shipped from the US via a friend/cousin??
Hello everyone,
As you all know there was a sale just for one day on Moto X over in US, I ordered the 32gb version for myself. As I am in India and will be using this phone here, on the choose a carrier page i selected: GSM Unlocked (includes T-Mobile Sim) option.
My question is: Will this phone support the Indian Sim? Also does this phone support LTE? And which version (AT&T or T-Mobile) will I get as below GSM Unlocked, it`s written AT&T and T-Mobile 4G LTE with Global HSPA?
Which one is better in terms of future software updates?

Hello,
I want to get a Moto X for Europe.
1. as a non-Sprint customer, can I unlock the phone for Europe usage?
2. if No, can I get a carrier-unlocked phone from moto maker?
3. if yes, can someone help me out with a code?
Notes:
It's urgent because I have to ship it in the next days to arrive in time.
I have a US address and CC.
Thanks a bunch!
I don't think you want a Sprint phone at all. What bands do your providers use for HSPA/UMTS/WCDMA and for LTE?
With that information we can suggest the best Moto X variant to purchase.
If your CC isn't issued in the US. You won't be able to purchase. Buying the model depends on which bands your carrier support for LTE if that is a concern for you. The T Mobile Moto X from their website comes carrier unlocked with no branding. And it's LTE bands are 2,4 & 17. AT&T model supports the most LTE bands. I don't recall all of them Wikipedia should help with that.
I'm assuming you're are buying from MotoMaker to get a customized one?
You can take the route of buying from eBay if the above is not the case, where sellers sell the unlocked AT&T variant which is the Mobile Nextel version? (I think), but no option to customize colors.
By the way why did you want the Sprint version?

I did take the ebay route, and after so much digging about several models, I just decided to get the Moto X, and found a good price for it. I also checked that it can be carrier unlocked, but didn't know it's not for all carriers. So I didn't check if you can unlock Sprint or not.
Sad thing is, I already won the bid for the phone. And now I don't know what to do, because if I pay for it, I will have an unusable phone in my country .
I'd order from the MotoMaker (friend of mine has US CC), but the price is a bit high for me there. That's why I asked if someone maybe has a $150 off code, I saw people offering.
What do you suggest?

Here are the bands, if the image is not showing for you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/41dapiaxppa5w72/Capture.PNG
If you have a friend in the US that would be the best route.
Mines were unable to buy mines for me because the thought it would of been to much of a hassle.
I live in The Bahamas and had to buy mines through a US parcel forwarding Personal shopper service. Which in turn still turned out better than buying from eBay or Swappa. Reason being is that I got to customize it to my liking of colors and I got more memory for the money.
As for a code, surely someone around here has one they will give you for free. Or you can go to AndroidCentral to try your luck there, but for the most part users of XDA have some at their disposal.

Your best bet is to purchase a tmobile version of the phone, it will not be simlocked. The Sprint versions are simlocked and I only Sprint seems to be able to unlock them.
I don't think any version of the phone will get you LTE, you may get HSPA (3G) but it is tough to confirm without having any true band numbers to compare to as several bands are similar in the US and other countries but aren't quite the same.
If you do have a US friend who can and will order a phone with a US credit card I do have a code to share. I just want to make sure the code gets used.

I bought the TMO version. I don't think you can unlock Sprint for GSM.
EDIT: Afaik, you need to been on Sprint fo 90 days to get it unlocked. Maybe you can talk to them, and ask the exact conditions. I couldn't do this, because I don't live in the US. My best option was to get the TMO version, even if it's more expensive. This is unlocked by default, and works in Europe. It's like the developer edition.
I am trying to figure out if I should buy the GS6 from AT&T or buy a factory unlocked phone from GSM Nation: http://www.gsmnation.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-unlocked.html or Expansys: http://www.expansys-usa.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-smartphone-unlocked-32gb-black-275005/
From what I've been reading if I buy a carrier unlocked S6 I will for sure lose out on VOLTE and HDvoice but I dont get those things now with my Nexus 5 so I dont think I will miss them. The question on I have is am I missing anything? Is there anything else I need to take into consideration when buying unlocked vs at&t branded? Yes, I'm aware it will cost a little more and I wont get support from AT&T if something goes wrong with it but is there anything else I should know?
Well since the modem is probably the same across most North American / European / Australia varients hopefully the unlocked version is just packed with LTE bands!
It makes sense to buy it if you're buying it outright and your countries bands are included... Does anyone know the Bands / model name for the Unlocked ver?

For what its worth, I'm buying the 32GB Verizon S6 that is already unlocked for $599. Its cheaper than the AT&T. I won't get LTE if I stick with Cricket (which use AT&T towers) but thats fine. HSPA is fine and I can switch to Verizon prepaid if I so desire. Just an option I would throw out there.

@alnova1 i thought about getting the verizon one too but my whole reason for not buying the att one is to avoid having to wait for updates and to get around all the carrier bloatware. If I get the verizon one I will miss out on LTE and I will have to wait for updates. Its a lose lose situation.

yeah the unlocked one they sell at gsm nation will work on att.
Yeah but AT&T = Locked bootloader so no rooting etc. Have fun with that.
So I've been spoiled by the nexus 4/5 and haven't really paid attention to Samsung phones... If I got an S6 w/ an unlocked bootloader and rooted, would I still be able to use Samsung Pay (I've heard of something called Knox, i guess would rooting cause it to be tripped?)

depending on the root method, the current root requires the unlock bl and will trip knox, which means you lose functionality of any features associated with knox...reason it trips knox is the way the SU binary is pushed to the phone is by temporarily injecting a recovery based on stock but with custom code if i recall.. you can google CF Auto to see how it works in detail.
Well crap. I was hoping one device would work across all carriers, like the Nexus 6 and iPhone 6 does. Oh well.
Do we know if the AT&T version is crippled in any way? Possible pain points:
Wireless charging limited to PMA only (AT&T has a history of pushing PMA at the expense of Qi)
Unremovable AT&T bloatware (AT&T Navigator, AT&T Family Map, AT&T Smart WiFi, etc)
Removal of certain software features (On my LG G3, it's missing a few minor features like Quick Tips for no discernable reason)
Locked bootloader (I actually assume this one is a given)
Of course we know it'll get slower software updates and still has the ugly AT&T logo on the back.

well the s6 is suppose to include support for both PMA and Qi, as far as the bloat, if its like the nexus lp release those bloatware apps are sim related and can be removed as they don't reside on the /system as for the locked BL i think everyone has pretty much assumed that it will be shipped locked.

I have no idea about the pma or qi wireless charging. I dont think they would mess with it but it wouldn't surprise me.
I assume we'll have to root to get rid of all the bloat.
I hope they dont remove features but as we know, they got rid of download booster on the GS5 so again, this wouldn't surprise me.
I too assume the boot loader will be locked but so was the GS5 and there are ways around it.
good questions, a lot to think about. I almost wanna just say ahhh forget it and just the att branded one to make sure I get HD Voice and VoLte but then every time I look at my wifes GS5 on AT&T and see that shes still got Kitkat I so NOPE!!!
Locked bootloader?
Shoot i guess i have been spoiled by the nexus :/ I jumped on the hype and bought a s6 (preordered really) because my n5 was getting old and the metal band and the curved display. Still kindof frightened of how it would look when watching a movie, bad experience with gamma curve on note 1 for the att note. I look forward to flash cm 12.1 on the edge and develop some apps or xposed modules to use that sexy edge
Yes.
I have my first ever factory unlocked phone and first Samsung phone ever
Galaxy Alpha 850M on MetroPCS/Tmobile Network.
It is a sleek phone, great Audio, no lag and has ALL the Bands for Tmobile( even 1700 UMTS not listed in it's specs).
BUT- the phone is NOT software optimized for Metro/Tmobile so no
VoLTE- which we have had on Metro since 2012 .
So make a call and instantly you lose LTE and drop to 3G and sometimes the
" hand off " back to LTE after the call takes a minute or so...
Sometimes Data is interrupted temporarily when on Internet and I get a call though I have voice and Data almost all the time.
These are not things I was warned about on Articles about BYOD.
I have no problems with Texts , MMS, Multiple Email Accounts and different Notifications for them all though- that is very good-often people have some problems , glitches with unlocked phones.
Because VoLTE is becoming more common it may eventually become more universal but we are not there yet so even an advanced phone like Alpha and probably S6 needs specific Carrier Software to enable the VoLTE for the specific Carrier.
So you won't stay on LTE during Calls .
Not sure if the Band switching wastes energy or not- the Battery is going to be the Achilles Heel on S6 IMO for heavy users- .
So that's the problem IMO with Factory Unlocked Phones- I also suspect the Software Optimized and precisely Band Optimized Carrier Devices are faster with better reception generally than similar Model Factory Unlocked Devices but no proof and it's probably complicated....lol.
I'm also on the fence about getting an AT&T Version of the S6 or not. Having a locked bootloader could be a deal breaker and from the last 2 Galaxy Units they had it should be locked too. Until someone gets a unit and lets us know, we'll be in limbo until then. I currently have a AT&T HTC M8, unlocked, s-off, the works, and i can pretty much do anything to this phone. I do keep my phone close to stock, but all the bloat removed and option to flash any type of ROM is a big plus.
Hopefully we can get a definitive answer on the Bootloader asap.
We me I just want to know if I buy the S6 from Verizon to use on At&t will Verizon be able to track my Porn website cookies even if I'm on At&t?

So I have discovered at least 4 companies we can buy an unlocked S6 from in the US. Handtec, clove, expansys-usa, and gsmnation.
I ended up placing a pre-order from handtec.co.uk. Total came to $737 including shipping for a regular S6 32GB. Don't forget to add / request the Samsung activation / region unlock if you order from handtec or clove. Expansys and gsmnation should handle that for you even if you don't request it I think.
I just can't deal with the AT&T version. So glad my device will have no carrier bloat and get updates much sooner than the AT&T version.

Thanks for more options! I've been corresponding with the fine folks at GSMNation, and they don't seem to be understanding what I'm asking.
I'm curious about what model I will be getting. Will it be the Vodaphone version? I want to know so I can determine how long I'll be waiting for updates. T-Mo wasn't the worst, and I have been able to do a lot with it.
Last year I brought my T-Mobile S5 to AT&T...I'm wondering if I can just go buy one at T-Mobile, but activate it on AT&T. Unlocking shouldn't be an issue. Whatever I do, I must be able to root that beast!

Which AT&T bands does the phone support?
Guys can you be kind enough to send me a link to a seller. I'm looking at buying my wife a note 9 for use on the USA CDMA network Sprint. Thanks. Best I've seen is this..
Question is, will it even work on Sprint? Meaning will Sprint even activate it?

You have to get the unlocked US variant N960U1. Works with all providers. I had mine with a T-Mon and now a Verizon sim. No problems on CDMA.
The international version will not work with Sprint or Verizon. I had once a international Note5 and had to buy a new phone.
Bestbuy is selling the N960U1

So is there anyone using an 9600 on Sprint USA?
Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
Sprint will only allow certain USA unlocked phones on their network. Read the N9600 forums and you'll see that while some firmwares will work with Verizon, they're having a heck of a time finding a firmware that gives both an OEM unlock option and support for Verizon/Sprint bands.
Unless custom ROMs are a requirement, getting the N960U1 is the best you get on Sprint.

Simple answer. No. Sprint or Verizon will NOT activate the IMEI of any international/Chinese smartphone. If the IMEI of the phone is not in the carrier's database it cannot be activated, A while back you could pop in your currently activated SIM into an international phone and it would work as long as you flash the appropriate firmware and use the proper APN's. But today this is not possible. The SIM and IMEI both must be activated with the CDMA carrier Sprint or Verizon. The Chinese/Hong Kong Snapdragon Samsung's DO support all of the U.S. carrier bands but neither Sprint or Verizon can or will activate the IMEI of those international phones. I've already gone through this battle and so has many other people. People who say that Sprint or Verizon activated their Chinese/Hong Kong S8, Note 8 or Note 9 are lying and trying to look like special... Trust me they are not. Unfortunately the only options are to either switch to a GSM carrier and that will open up your phone choices or buy a U.S. unlocked phone like was suggested above. Don't waste you money buying a Chinese galaxy phone because you won't get it activated on Sprint or Verizon. 100% guaranteed.

Sprint and Verizon, they're a very fussy bunch of twats it would seem, ATT a close 2nd.
I remember, upgrading from a note 8 to a 9 was a choir compared to when I was with T-Mobile. I'll be setting aside another 30 or so mins to upgrades the wife's note 8 to a 9 when hers comes in on Tuesday, plus time and cost of new sim not included above.

Your Chinese Note 9 is not activated on Verizon. The international IMEI cannot and will not activate on the Verizon network. Your sim card might be activated along with the IMEI of a different phone [simultaneously] but it's definitely not activated. And unless the IMEI is registered on the network, the phone will not connect to the network. Period. Run along.

How about you provide a screenshot of your "About Phone" in settings and prove that your sim and IMEI are activated on Verizon. Include the "Status" section as well. This will prove it once and for all. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Because I dont like being called a liar. @elevatorguy can back me up. I just got his hk n9600 working fully on vzw.
I've seen mutiple reports on xda and OP forums. I'm opening the new thread for those of us on vzw to discuss our issues with the recent firmwares.
I was using 9.0.7 without any issues. Upgraded to 9.0.11 and the phone has been acting up since last night. The signal bar was full for a few minutes and suddenly lost signal completely. From other threads, looks like 9.0.10 has the same issue.
This morning, I went into setting and renamed the SIM from Verizon to Verizon Wireless then I reboot the phone twice. Since then, the signal bar has been stable.
Can someone with similar issue rename the network and validate to confirm? I have another OP6T on 9.0.7 but I don't want to risk it.

I'm using the Tmobile unlocked variant with Verizon and it's working fine. Other then the constant RTT calls converting it's been really good. I plan on converting it to the international model here when I get my unlock.bin
Dirty flashing 9.0.11 from Open Beta 2 caused me to lose VoLTE. Remedy was a clean flash of 9.0.11.
As in reboot to TWRP, factory wipe, flash full OTA, flash TWRP installer, reboot to TWRP, flash Magisk.
No more problems..
Just wondering if 9.0.11 requires that clean flash as it might update something that interacts with the data partition..
I have no issue with any firmware on Verizon. Went from .10 to .11 without issue also. Maybe that you came from beta that you had to wipe.
same, international on Verizon. .10 was fine, .11 is fine. haven't tried any of the open betas yet.

Did unlocking and flashing to international solve the RTT issue? OnePlus blatantly refuses to fix this issue; I've been talking to them for 3 months now.

Lemme do a quick copy/paste since you want to follow me around the forum.
While I greatly appreciate the assistance of everyone here, this is silly (put nicely). No one bought a OnePlus 6T from T-Mobile to with the expectation that T-Mobile would be our device manufacturer or software developer. They are not and this is not the case for any other phone or phone company. OnePlus informed us that they would be the ones releasing the software which would simply need to be verified by T-Mobile, resulting in understandable, albeit advertised as minor, delays to OTAs. Furthermore OnePlus told me over a month ago that the next update would have this fixed. It did not, of course. If it were all up to T-Mobile, OnePlus would not have supposedly found the issue and issued a fix. Let's not get silly in defending OnePlus, please. Product advertised as X (working on Verizon network). Product not working as advertised (on Verizon network). Do not blame the consumer or anyone else aside from the product manufacturer. This is a simple equation. Thanks.

I'm not following you, I happen to read this forum and you posted the same thing in multiple places.
I read this thread because the title of the forum says flapping on Verizon. Technically you posted this in the wrong thread.
You are running the T-Mobile version with T-Mobile firmware and there is no expectation that it will run correctly on Verizon since it is running T-Mobile firmware. I doubt anyone at T-Mobile cares about Verizon compatibility.
Technically the device running T-Mobile firmware is not certified on Verizon.
So how is it the fault of OnePlus that a device certified for T-Mobile does not function correctly when they do not guarantee compatibility of the T-Mobile version on Verizon?
T-Mobile is the customer of OnePlus.
Individuals that bought from T-Mobile see a T-Mobile splash screen in the firmware.
If it doesn't work correctly you remedy is with T-Mobile and I'm sure they will say that they do not certify their firmware for other networks.
The issue is not in the international firmware; which is advertised and certified for Verizon.

You're wrong my friend.
iPhone is (almost) universally compatible to all carriers for years. Putting a verizon sim in t-mobile Samsung S8/S9/Note change the phone's CSC and magically turns the phone into into verizon variant. Yep, even the phone's slash screen changes depend on the carrier of the sim inside the phone at the time. Phones should be designed that way. There's no excuse. Consumers with t-mobile unlocked 6T should be able to use their phone reliably on other carriers. This idea of OnePlus messing with the t-mobile variant's firmware to make it less compatible to Verizon is not OnePlus' fault is just non-sense.
I wouldn't buy the 6T if it's not compatible to both t-mobile and Verizon.
Sent from my OnePlus 6T using Tapatalk
You, miss the point of a branded vs fully unlocked phone.
The phone is a T-Mobile variant with T-Mobile firmware that is customized for specific features on T-Mobilr.
An example of this is the Pixel phones with a fully locked BL that you cannot change the firmware from Verizon. Phones that are carrier branded/exclusive may or may not be fully compatible on all carriers. Things like VVM may or may not work. Voice over WiFi may not work
Apple verifies compatibility on all carriers.
Samsung unlocked phones are compatible across the carriers they specify. The carrier specific phones may or may not work.
OnePlus and T-Mobile never sold the phone as compatible with all carriers. The T-Mobile variant has firmware specific to T-Moble, they even market the phone as different, as in only a single SIM active.
So I say once again, since T-Mobile, ultimately is reposible for testing and certification of the firmware, your issue is with T-Mobile. OnePlus does not send T-Mobile phones for Verizon certification. They send the unlocked version. It may even be a violation of their agreement to do so.
The T-Mobile version has firmware that disables features and it is specifically for T-Mobile.

No, you're wrong. Tech_head is right.
Oneplus and T-Mobile never advertised that T-Mobile version would be compatible with other carriers. You're applying the iSheep logic here. Just because iPhone does it, it doesn't mean Onplus 6T should.
I knew i would be glad i ponied up the extra coin instead of buying a tmob variant. That being said, the update to 9.0.10 totally borked my signal/data on Verizon. so i used msm tool to flash back to 9.0.7. when the .11 update came out and other *factory* unlocked verizon users confirmed it worked, i updated. when .12 came out, i updated without issue. i have no network issues. if you are on an unlocked direct from one plus version, flash back to the last firmware that worked.
if you are, in fact, on a Tmob version, while i can applaud the notion that all phones should be unlocked, it is a subsidized phone, and that is the tradeoff and how tmob keeps people from buying and running off to another carrier and why it was half the price of the unlocked one.
Verizon pulls the same nasty trick on many of their phones, but Block C rules make it a 90 day lock/trap...buying a phone from a carrier is always a trap, though. especially when its monthly payments, etc.
