I'v got a problem after flashing los16. After the nexus 6 reboot I've got a screen where I have to enter the password to start android. After that there is a screen that show's "encryption unsuccessful... the password is correct but your data are damaged...you have to do a factory reset..."
After the factory reset the phone starts automatically and ends in the same screen
Did anyone get this message? I'm unable to boot into lineageOS.
Twrp version 3.2.3.0
Thanks for your help
In twrp, select wipe-> format data/ factory reset. And that's it!

I'm trying to do a factory reset on my 8GB Nexus 7. It was rooted and unlocked on stock 4.2.1 with stock bootloader/recovery. When I boot into recovery, hold power and tap volume up, I get the menu and pick factory data reset, then select Yes to start the wipe. It then starts to show Formatting /data... and does nothing. I've let it sit for an hour; no change. I've tried temporarily booting TWRP and wiping data that way...same thing - say's it's wiping, but left it for over an hour and it appears to make no progress.
Next Steps? I've tried doing the fastboot flash commands to restore stock but still run into the reason for the factory reset - I'm getting the "enter your password to decrypt" message but none of my passwords are working; apparently factory reset is only way to fix.
go to the main device settings, backup and reset, then press factory data reset.

Try using a tool to wipe your tablet.

Can't get into the device settings, hence the attempt to wipe data in recovery.

Have a tool suggestion? Whether I follow the fastboot guide to restoring to stock or use a tool, I still receive the "Enter password to decrypt storage" message; only way around that is to do a factory reset. I haven't seen any tools that allow me to do a factory reset.

Today I was using Twitter when my phone suddenly rebooted and then it brought me to a screen which says "Enter Password to decrypt storage" and that 30 attempts would wipe the device.
Well Ive never encrypted my device and I tried typing in 30 random things in order for it to wipe but nothing happens, Ive also tried booting into TWRP recovery but it just hangs.
What should I do?
for people that are getting to the point of "enter a password" for the device to decrypt, it means that force_no_encrypt successfully got put into your system, but power off at this part and boot into your bootloader and go into recovery mode, then do a wipe. That boot.img of the no_force_encrypt is already installed, once you restart the phone it should be all good and your phone should not have encryption and you can check that in "security"

Yeah, once you've got that flashed, you'll need to do a factory reset. If you're using TWRP, you'll also need to hit "format data" so you don't get stuck in an endless loop where it asks for a password and a factory reset.
After the factory reset, the screen won't proceed after the logo screen. My computer won't recognize the phone at all. (it tries to install the phone drive and then it fails) it seems like I can go to the recovery boot screen. However, after I've done factory reset/wipe cache, it still won't work. HELPPPP

Reflash STOCK ROM via ODIN for your device. You can find it in Sammobile.com.
Hello everyone, i have a Little problem, i'm actually on latest aex mod 8.1 and everytime i try to install a miui based rom (epic and masik) installation is going fine, boot too but i'm stuck with a message telling me that encryption was unsuccessfull a message pop ups to restart phone and perform a Factory reset to solve this issue.i hit the button, phone restart to twrp wipe automatically data i guess (don't really remember) and reboot and again the same message. I've never encrypted my device and twrp dosn't ask me for a password. I've only set a fingerprint with pin code to secure my phone. Still i could restore my aex backup with twrp.
Anyone could explain whats going on?
Édit: same error if i try to install RR 7.1 it tells me that encryption (not decryption) was interrupted and had to reboot to twrp and restore a back up. I'm really confused
