I installed a custom rom few days back and unlocked bootloader and rooted it. I installed stock rom after some time, i flashed stock rom using odin but now many apps are showing me an error that my device is rooted, like samsung health, samsung pay etc. I can not use anything. I wanna revert it back to complete stock phone.
Please help me.

Hey mate. After unlocking the bootloader and rooting, the fuse on your mobo gets flagged and the KNOX is tripped as 0x1. No way to revert that, as it is a hardware fuse. So, Samsung Pay, Secure folder will no longer work on your mobile, no matter what you do. With right rom and Magisk, you can get SHealth and GooglePay enabled.

I agree with Jonny908. You will need to buy a new phone, or change the board (resulting in a mismatched IMEI) as there isn't any way to "un-blow" a fuse.

what is missed after Note5 unroot!

Hello,
I knew that if I root my Note5 (N920C) I will lose Knox and Samsung pay.
I've a question, If I revert to the original firmware shall I get back Samsung pay and knox?
generally, If I installed back the original firmware, is everything will back to normal or some issues would happen??
if there are issues after unrooting and installing the stock firmware, please list them all.
thank you for your support.
Samsung pay is gone. Knox will always be 0x1.you will have no deepsleep.

Hi ,
in short , if you flash your latest official stock Rom
You obviously loose root .!
Secondly ,if Knox is tripped it stays like that ., permanently
It's what they called a "e fuse " that was tripped.
(Nothing you do ,can will fix knox ,Only Samsung can and the most probably won't )
Also if you unroot chances are that your phone won't "deep sleep" ?
Samsung Pay ,i don't know.
Good luck
Thank you guys. the stock firmware is pretty good already. there is no good reason for rooting

Samsung Health not working after stock firmware flash

Hey guys,
I rooted my phone but after using the custom ROM I decided to unroot my phone by flashing a stock firmware through Odin. Everything works fine but Samsung health is showing "Because of a new security policy. Samsung Health can't be opened on a rooted device. (0x110040null5c1)"
Please help me to resolve this issue as I want to resell my device now.

That is perfectly normal. As long as you rooted your device before, Samsung will somehow not let you use some of their services and trip Knox, even something that is as stupid as Samsung Health. The only way to fix that is by rooting your phone again, going into build.prop and setting ro.tima=1.

after doing changes in build.prop, can I go back to stock without trip Knox error?

I don't think so, as Odin might replace your build.prop during flashing. And your Knox is forever tripped.

hi guy plz help
yesterday my note 8 sm-n950f root after note working samsung pay and health secure folder after unroot my phone
odin flash original firmware agen coming this err plz help
Once you root your phone 1 time, you never get that features back because Knox is triggert to 0x1 now. You can't revert that

Samsung Pay will never work again after root since Knox is tripped but you can probably get AndroidþGoogle Pay to work. You can get Samsung Health to work though. With root, edit build.prop, change ro.config.tima from 1 to 0 then reboot.

Uh ok, I highly doubt that though. To get Samsung Pay working again they'll have to replace the MB or some other hardware. Regardless your phone will need to be serviced if they even agree to do that for free which I doubt as well.

thanx bro i try ....
Reflash your stock firmware in normal Odin and you'll have everything working correctly once again.
Edit- sorry just saw you are on the F variant.. I know on SD models you just need to refresh stock firmware and Knox will be 0x0. I think the same applies for the F variant ONLY if you haven't flashed TWRP (also likely Magisk since it modifies the stock boot image)

For F models/Exynos, the only way to root is to install TWRP. Installing TWRP is what trips Knox.
Yeah I thought there was another root method, but it was the sampwnd method for the s8 lol. Well, looks like he may just be SOL.

Rooting, does it break anything? Can Oreo be rooted?

As mentioned above, does unlocking bootloader and rooting break anything? My previous Sony Xperia XZ Premium had high noise in images and image enhancements were no longer working after unlocking bootloader.
1 - Can I root after updating to Android 8 Oreo or must I first root when using stock Nougat?
2 - If rooting, unlocking bootloader, aside from Samsung Pay not working, anything else affected? Camera or other software such as image enhancements?
My Note 8 was only ordered yesterday and I'm due to receive it Monday so was thinking of rooting as I have some apps that require root access. Thanks.

Yes you can root Oreo to easy if you have exynos version you cant update to Oreo if you already on Nougat rooted you must first unroot and flash stock firmware than update to Oreo and than root...in other case update to Oreo than root
with root you lose warrianty and samsung pay, knox and you cant update firmware until you not unroot.....about other apps like camera or something you dont need worry root not break it its work normal.
about root if you dont know why you need it than you not need it. I root my phone because need it for few mods and apps which need root. i thinking now to go back to stock and update to May security patch than root again.

For Exynos devices:
1. You can root on oreo as easy as on nougat! You only need correct Odin and TWRP version for oreo.
2. You will also lose Samsung pass, security folder and Samsung health. But Samsung health you can easy get back working with an build.prop entry.
Samsung pay, Samsung pass and security folder you will lose permanently

^ Thank you so much for your response. I am not at all bothered or interested to use Samsung pass & security, will never use either, just further bloatware I intend to get rid of!
I ordered my dual sim Note 8 from Middle East, 99% will be the Exynos version. I shall confirm once received the model number. I'm hoping it's the Exynos version as performance and battery life is even better than the Snapdragon one.
There are a number of apps that I use which require access such as root explorer, titanium backup and Adaway.
After rooting, if you want to get back to stock will the Knox count still be triggered and if so can you unroot and get back to stock firmware and still be able to use samsung pass?

Sow what will be the benefit of rooting for the note 8 since there is not much now out there to use root with?

Not much to those that don't need apps that require root.
But the ones that like custom roms and kernels and Viper4android audio and removing bloat and using backup programs like titanium backup and other things and like to mod their phone their way. Root is necessary! (They don't care for Knox or Samsung pass or secure folder or any related Knox feature.)

Try the rom threads for note 8 for custom roms. Look at weta rom for music type rom if you're into music for eg. But make sure it say for n950F and Not n950u.
I've just been reading haven't rooted mine yet.
Try them out and see what you like.
Titanium backup is good for backup of apps and there data.
Adaway great for system wide ad blocking.
Make sure to backup your efs partitions first!! Lose that and no imei and no cell network.

Can I flash another region ROM using Odin without break the Knox?

I got a N960F/DS (CSC: OXM_MYM). It is Thailand version without Samsung Pay enabled.
Can I flash another country's ROM, certainly under same hardware architecture (N960FXXS2ARK2), without breaking the Knox?
I want to use Samsung Pay at US ...... ......
You can but still you will not get Samsung pay

Hi
I flashed my old S6 with German firmware as I couldn’t wait any longer for O2 U.K. and that was ok but I never used payments on my phone back then... I wonder if it’s the same!?

Did you ever manage to get this to work? I'm in a similar situation.

on the about section in settings, then under status , does the phone still show as "official" ? after you guys successfully flashed other region firmware ? this is a straightforward way to see if the phone is still "knoxed" or not, as i am wondering if the Samsung pay not working is due to georestriction or knox related? Because as i remember with my pre-previous phone the s7e that i rooted, tripped knox resulted in many Samsung apps locked with an original firmware as Samsung health, pass, pay secure folder etc but otherwise still usable.
Just remember that since the S7, once the phone is rooted or knox is triggered there is no way back even if you flash the original firmware and completely unroot it, knox is like an electric fuse and once it is broken there is no way to "unroot" or restore knox to official status except replace the motherboard (until s6 root and knox was software and fixable by flashing original firmware but since s7 knox counter is hardware)
Manage to change region by following this thread.
But I'm not using spay so can't confirm if it will make spay work or not. Knox won't be tripped so nothing to lose if you try it
