As said by every manufacturer, phone can resist underwater at 1 meter, but in tap water and without pushing buttons.
You have placed the phone in salted water (high dangerous for rubber O-rings and glue) and you also took pictuers (if you had snorkeling to record videos or shoot fishes).
Than, if the phone is dry and screen won't turn on, you'll have to repair it but your warranty is avoided.
Good luck.
Happened to me...
I don't know if it was due to heat, but the back panel seemed to be unglued at the top.
I think it was what caused the issue, as I just put my phone in the water few seconds and max 30cm deep down.
The display started to flicker and ended up being all black in few days.
Watch for any openings around the phone.
I just want to be able to get my videos and photos back. It turns on and vibrates when I connect to pc, but I can't see the screen to allow pc data transfer.

Did you wash the salt off with fresh water afterwards? Salt will be causing problems on it's own, good chance you've permanently fried the phone though
If you can connect it to hi-suite and then unlock your phone (assuming pin certification etc.) then there's a screen mirror function in hi-suite which should allow you to do it. This is, of course, based on the assumption that the only issue your phone has is the borked screen and not more damage.
Attached is a picture of the initial lock screen keypad position to assist in trying to unlock the phone.
Snorkeling case is like $50 on Amazon for future reference

Hi, I recently dropped my phone and now the screen is blank. When i turn on the phone the whole screen is blank, the phone vibrates when it powers on but nothing is visible. Even when i get calls i cant attend them. There are no scratches or cracks on the screen after the fall. This is the first time i have experienced this and any help is appreciated. Thank you
I think the LCD is connected to the phone's main board by a connector that snaps into place. If you dropped the phone, I think it's a possibility that this connector could have popped out. It would only take a few minutes to open it and check for this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A4zbBKkcKU Skip to 2 minutes and 50 seconds into the video and you will see this connector.
Unfortunately it's possible that when you dropped it, the LCD screen was damaged even though you can't visibly tell just by looking at it.
thank you very much will try it
Hello,
I used my z1 in water and it turned off after a while. Then, a day after, it suddenly turned itself on, and worked for about a day. During that period, there were an issue about battery level, and so on, it showed wrong level, but it worked. Also, i could notice some drops of water under the screen. Afterwards, it turned off, and I couldn't make it work ever since.
But... When I press vol up and power btn it vibrates 3 times. When I hold pow it vibrates once (turns on) and after couple of seconds it obvioulsy starts working, I get audio notices about new mail, SMS and so on. The second I receive mail on computer phone makes a sound as well, so it is actualy on. But... Screen is not working at all...
What can I do?
Thanks
You can try drying your phone through rice and forget about it for a couple days, however I recommend you send your phone in since the screen is already not working. If you want though, to reduce cost, you can replace the parts yourself, but it's very hard to find the parts, diagnosing what's working and not, and performing the assembly / disassembly process.
there are videos how to take z1 into parts, but it is not easy, seriously. i would also try opening ports and put phone into rice for some days.
Just one question, have you tried contacting Sony? The device is IP certified, should be covered under waranty.
My OP3 was kept in a bag (water resistant), during a heavy rain, I thought the phone is safe in that bag. But some water got leaked into the bag and the phone was kept in the bag for almost 1hour.
When I checked the phone after reaching home, it's got turned off(enough charge was there), I tried to turn it on, it did light up for a while and then turned off. I used a hair dryer to dry it and kept it in rice for 2 days. After that, it turned on normally, I tried to charge it. I got a call after few minutes of charging, spoke for a minute, but after the call the screen didn't light up. My phone is working fine except the screen. touch is working fine, I can unlock using the touch screen (It has a pattern lock), I can use google assistant to make calls, play music. But just that screen is not lighting up.
I am not sure what to do now, I think the issue is because of some short circuit. I don't think it's a right question to ask, can it be fixed without the whole screen replacement? (I think screen costs too much for my budget), also please share me if you have any links for buying the screen.
Thanks, everyone, have a nice day.
It's very likely that there is "only" some corrosion by the display connector because of the water. This probably causes the short circuit. If you can see some corrosion inside the phone (especially under the display connector) on the board, clean it carefully with a soft toothbrush and Isoprpyl alcohol (from the pharmacy).
Worked for me on my old Xperia.
Good luck!

Open up the phone and clean it out.. Might be some corrosion indeed. Watch JerryRigEverything, he explains it very well. I wonder, how much water came inside?

Yes mate, this is your only option, to open up the phone and check for rust. Be sure to dissconect the battery, and use coke in case you find any corrosion or rust. Googd luck
Hello
I have purchased a p30 pro recently. Yesterday, while using phone, suddenly the screen colors got washed out, then after some minutes the screen went full black. I believe touch is working, just the screen sometimes draw some subtle vertical lines and no image appears.
I'm not much concerned if the phone works or not in the future, but i have very important files in the phone that i need to retrieve and i believe if i send the phone to a service center it will be reseted.
Any suggestions of what i should do?
I've tried:
- Pressing the power button 20 seconds while phone is connected to tv whith an usb-c - hdmi adaptor. Huawei logo appears on tv but after that screen flickers with black. If i was able to have the pin screen there would've been great as could install an app to send fles to cloud after.
- Tried with the PC suite HiSuite, but since mobile is locked with pin, it cannot connect to do backup.
- Tried to insert the pin in "blind" by touching screen
Would appreciate if someone could help. Is there any way to enter the initial pin to have access to mobile, but without using screen?
Thanks
P.S. Phone didnt felt or anything, just subtedly washed on the faucet with just water as it was bit dirty (like 10 hours previous to failture). Wasnt submerged either. Will try to put it on a rice bowl eventually, but an IP68 phone (Pro) i find strange, i have done that several times on my old S8 and never had an issue.
Phones are NOT waterproof. Have seen several liquid damaged iPhones and Galaxy phones. Most likely the phone is liquid damaged. Second likelihood is damaged display. Rice will make it worse. You’ll need someone, a mobile phone repair technician, to open it up as soon as possible and remove the corrosion with IPA or an ultrasonic cleaner. The longer you wait, the worse the corrosive damage becomes. Look for a shop that's competent enough to remove the rear glass without cracking it. Franchises are generally less reliable.
You can use HiSuite to retrieve files or even preview the contents of ur display , thing is you have to find a way to press the accept button for the usb authorization when asked from the phone.
EDIT: Just saw you used the method but your phone is locked with a pin so i would suggest to try the blind method to unlock the phone.
Solved, thank you all
Was able to unlock and backup everything, was lucky
It's supposed to be water resistant, but I've never dunked it intentionally under water. Bought this in 2017. Unfortunately, I had an accident and it fell inside a sink full of hot water (while I was taking care of a patient) and it stayed there for a minute or two.
What happened are the following:
Power button no longer works - It was a little wonky as it kept turning the screen on and popping up the camera. I tried to turn it off, but it kept turning back on.
Stock camera app - doesn't work anymore. whenever I try to activate the app, it just crashes.
Rear camera hardware - focusing is gone. Using another app (camera zoom fx) I can access it, but pics are blurry. It can't focus on images 12 feet away.
Front cam hardware - there was a mist that fogged the camera. but it seems to be working fine after.
Screen - the screen was relatively ok after the dunking. However, water got inside the S-pen port. I immediately removed it and started drying the phone for 48 hours. I tried to return the s-pen after, but it seemed to trigger something and the screen started flickering. it lasted for a day but it's now completely normal.
Aside from those, everything is fine with the phone. I managed an online backup to Samsung account and everything.
If you're still here, here are some of my questions. I appreciate all your help.
1. I've now turned it off for a complete drying. Now I can't turn it on. Is there a way to turn it on? Is a USB C jig available to do this?
2. I left some sensitive data in the phone *coughbootypicscough*, is there a way to access the memory and wipe it? or maybe factory reset the phone without turning it on?
3. Can the cameras be replaced / fixed?
Hoping for all our help.

The fact that water was hot made it easier to gain access to the inside of the phone and personally I'm going to say it's now a hardware issue and the phone is likely no good anymore.. If you're worried about certain pictures on the phone just destroy the phone so no one could possibly take parts out of it and try to use them. Smash it with a hammer, drive over it, you get the idea.. Just get another phone at this point the reason I know it's a hardware issue is because of what your camera did so the water made it past the seals mainly because it was hot and loosened the glue to get past it.

it actually still works. I tried hard not to turn it off because the power button is broken. Last night, I fell asleep and forgot to charge it and battery drained and phone turned off.
It still charges but I can't turn it on because the power button is broken.
I was hoping if anyone knows if a USBC jig can help and turn it on for a bit or any other way to trigger download mode and then restart.
Try to hold Volume down + Bixby button and plug the cable in, it may be goes in download mode amd than you can reboot you phone. If not try only with Volume down and cable.

I'll try that again. For now, I'm placing the phone inside a box with desiccant to ensure that it dries completely. Hopefully, it restores some function to the powerbutton.

Try opening and removing the simcard tray while the phone rest in the box with desiccant. Hopefully can remove water vapors better and faster.
