Interested in buying this phone. Has anyone used the phone on att? Being that the phone doesn't have band 14 or 30 I'm wondering if anyone has had any issues. I'd appreciate any input.

Totally depends on your location. Some places rely on bands 14 and 30 and others don't. Try to check what bands your current phone is using by downloading an app like LTE Discovery.

All I am saying is I called many people and talking and connnectivity was fine, and used my ROG Phone as I normally would and had no issue. I did have the error when trying to do record video, but I am still on WW 1906, so need to get that upgraded soon.

The rog2 has volte DISABLED for the US.
I have AT&T and the reception is better than my previous Google Pixel 3 XL. With the Pixel 3 XL I had to use WiFi calling while at work or my calls would not go through or drop constantly as I am on the 49th floor of our building if I didn't have VoWiFi enabled. No WiFi calling on the ASUS ROG Phone 2, but have had no issues with calls or texts coming through thanks to the superior reception. LTE reception is great as well. There is no VoLTE or VoWiFi on the ASUS ROG Phone 2 on AT&T, which really worried me originally, but have proven to be a non-issue so far. If this phone had the same recption as my Google Pixel 3 XL and did not have VoWiFi, it would have had to be shipped back since I need to be able to get calls at work.

I initially received a Tencent version and I got LTE on B4 and 5 in various spots in upstate NY but H+ everywhere else. I knew something was up when it showed up in a small OEM box which did not include the extra goodies like the fan and frame case. This one only came with a thin clear snap style case. Returned the phone because it did not have the bands such as B12 or 17 which are essential in my location. Waiting on elite version supposedly with these bands due to be delivered today. Fingers crossed because i really liked this phone.

Will do, My guess as far as lacking Band 30 It will switch over to H+. If this is the case for me I can live with that I'm pretty sure. I rarely see my AT&T LTE signal jump over to that band unless I'm out in the boon docks a little ways.
Also: I will def. check which bands it is comes preset to (*#*#4636#*#*) as my Tencent version kept wanting to swap to some funky setting and I would have to manually reset back to LTE/UMTS auto (PRL) in the settings menu.

Bro, just buy the phone full price even if you have to open a new line.
Practical? Yes, because as long as you don't activate the sim that comes with phone then you won't be charged for the plan you signed up for.
Since you pair full price you are not bound to anything
If you got prepaid then off you go with the sim and postpaid already? Off you go with that sim.
It's a rather simple process bro...

What are you talking about? If you don't activate the SIM? They activate a sim when they activate service!!!!!
I would suggest and talk to a manager, explain to them what you would like, it also helps if you've been a long time customer and you have a good history with them. 95% sure they will sell you one.

True you can flash the t-mobile radio with no problems. However, it will not change your results as to whether you get 3G (1700/2100) or not
Its true that the dev edition will only work for LTE (band 4) and 1900 tmobile refarmed areas for H+ or HSPA. You move out of those areas and you get E or edge just like every other dev edition. And thats a heck of ALOT of areas with E if you are not just a sitting duck roaming in your city year in and out
Bottom line, it sadly doesn't change a thing right now

You don't have to active service when buying a phone at full pop like you had mentioned to do. There is nothing in their policy that you can't buy a phone at full price straight out without service.

I'm not gonna ruin the Nexus 5, by putting it on Sprints network. Hello T-Mobile!
I work at Sprint and I play with all the new devices when they launch. First impression of the Nexus was it felt cheap. And the fact that it's made by LG this time just backs up the why the quality somewhat trash. The obnoxious circle phone speaker in the front was hideous. I thought it was a front facing speaker like HTC's One but it was an in call speaker. It looked like a knock off of all the phones that are out.
I did enjoy playing with the camera. A lot of new stuff that I want sure how to use yet but first impression was that the camera would be 1 of the key selling points for the phone. I had mixed feelings about the gigantic app icons but like I said it was my first impression so they could grow on me.
The feel of the phone in terms of performance wasn't bad. My GS4 is smoother with scrolling but I am stock rooted with stock kernel and debloated so Im pretty sure once this phone is too then it will be smooth as well. I did like how apps would open very quickly. Not much faster than my GS4 but was noticeable.
Honestly the phones performance isn't something to debate about because it is very resposnsive. And the Google Now feature is dope as well, but the feel and look of the phone just felt cheap like it was made from recycled parts or something. Just my 2 cents. The phone is a decent LG quality phone. If you like LG then go for it.

TMobile has 3G HSPA + which isn't actually any form of 4G but they advertise it as that. Your LTE capable phone isn't even on a real 4G or 4G LTE network.

So I had been toying with the idea of going from S4 -> N5, and went to the sprint store to play with N5. It does feel snappy. Just like when I install a fresh new rom on S4. Though Google Now fc on me on the N5.
Next I loaded up the same web page on both devices and noted that the page pan was not that significantly different.
Not convinced quite yet, but I may change my mind later. Still waiting for the ipad air to arrive which would keep me entertained for a while.

I feel like a lot of Sprint people expect Sprint to have LTE up in their back yard instantly. People always compare their LTE to Sprint. Verizon had a two year start on LTE deployment than Sprint since they chose to go with Wimax.

T-Mobile absolutely has LTE. And theirs is at least 20 times faster than Sprint's LTE here. I'm on Sprint LTE at home, and I just got 124 kbps down and 300 up. That's actually pretty good for their LTE! And it's been launched here for a few months. I guess that's what you get when you launch LTE handsets before you even have an LTE network to use them on anywhere in the nation. Once it's turned on, there are thousands of handsets sucking down the bandwidth as soon as it's turned on. Would probably help if they weren't running each tower off of one single Comcast cable modem...
Obviously that last part isn't true. but they shouldn't be selling or having LTE service here, if 124 kbps is there idea of LTE.

Than LTE hasn't been officially riled out yet in your area.it well get better. I typically get between 15-30mbs down and 10-15mbs up on Sprint LTE and my area is only 75 percent rolled out. When I first started getting LTE in my area I would only get 1-2mbs down. Hang in there and it will get better. Also, all carriers sell their LTE phones before the network is built out.

More than likely yes. Here's hoping Sprint actually FINISHES the LTE rollout for all bands instead of doing the half-assed job they did with WiMAX.

I think I have one, but I'm not sure.
When Sprint came out with 4.4.2.Kit Kat two days ago, everybody was posting that you needed MK2 software to get the download.
When I checked, my software is L720TVPUAMK5. My model shows as SPHL 720T, and on the box it's SPHL 720TWT.
When I asked about it, someone said I had a new Sparks.
I'm pretty much in the dark on all this.
Will I still get the Kit Kat download?
Does Austin, TX broadcast the new LTE?
Do I have something better? Or just a gimmick?
Is there anything important to know?

Accidental thanks. Anyways you will not get KitKat right now as this update is for the regular L720. There isndifferemt software for the T model. For example when we first noticed a MK5 software we regular phone people thought we would be able to use it but turns out we can't.
You will eventually get KitKat.
As far as Dallas having spark network, I don't know. I just know LA, San Fran, NYC, Chicago , and Miami were the first to start deployment.

Thanks, you've helped me a lot. Some guys in another forum were pushing me to manually update to MK2, glad I didn't.
I can wait for Kit Kat, at least now I know why it isn't pushing to me.
I can also wait for the tri band rollout. I get 30 Meg download on my home network.
Thanks again.

Until the network is really ready - and it will vary by market - be careful what you wish for with Spark. Its been alluded to already, but in many cases this can be a step backward.

So wait.... I just bought this thing two weeks ago from the sprint store, and my model number is the 720, not 720T. Did they seriously give me one of the old versions even though the new ones have been out since mid December?

Yes. Because the stores have the regular ones still. And only online at sprint.com were you able to get the T model.

No not a spark update but I got band 26. I know there is a speed forum but since Spark is a different tech I wanted a new topic.

How is it Sprint can be using so many bands together to get more speed and yet it's still slower than Tmo's single band? Oh right, it's Sprint...
I miss the old Sprint. I was their biggest fanboy for a good long while there before their 3g became unusable and their only 4g was wimax which didn't make it past trees or a window at anything more than a single bar. I understand the high frequency attenuation, but the lack of 3g backhaul is ridiculous and so is their piecemeal 4g network. I feel sorry for anyone still using them during this "transition". If this was a store under construction, they'd be better off closing for until they're complete, because the customer experience is so bad... I hope they make good use of their prime Nextel 800mhz spectrum, they could make a great network with it, it's totally possible. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Actually Sprint has improved a lot here in the Metro Detroit area I am connected to LTE everywhere I travel in southeast Michigan. It has been a painful journey these last 3 years but I see the light lol and we haven't been officially announced so I see nothing but good things at least for me from Sprint by the end of the summer it should be full throttle. Not to mention we have no data caps and I only pay $45 for unlimited everything. Framily Plan

I have had up to 48MB/sec download speed here on LTE.

yep, I can attest to that. Orlando was launched about a month ago, and voice and data coverage couldn't be better. Before I could barely get WiMax, but I get good LTE speeds at my residence and most of my commute through the city. CDMA 800 has already started rolling out in my area, as well as Spark
I just got the official text message from Sprint a few days ago announcing the new spark network here in Minneapolis. Now the wait for Google to update and enable the radios needed to receive the new LTE bands.
Sprint network has improved quite a bit in the last 6 months. I an get LTE pretty much everywhere in the metro and suburbs now. I will admit i was almost ready to pay the ETF and jump ship 6 months ago...

It is better. That was just band 26, not spark spark technically.

Cause its not currently using all three at once... Enabling all three bands is great but until we get a radio that can negotiate and use all 3 at once your speeds won't be that awesome. I get band 26 here in Houston sometimes and its certainly better than b25 cause of congestion and I have gotten band 41 here too where I got speeds of 70+Mbps (much faster than tmo) but the problem is I until the update we only get one band at once hence the odd speed results.
I'll edit later once I find my spark Houston speed thread I started months ago.
Cheers
When sprint updates so our n5s can use the spark network would it just be in a prl/profile update or an OTA type thing? Will I be on board if I'm running a custom ROM, or will I have to go back to stock for it?

Spark doesn't allow you to receive all 3 bands at once. The technology will automatically switch between the 3 bands, selecting the fastest band and strongest signal available for where you are.

good info thanks
even if you use the .15 modem and are lucky enough to find a 41b tower like i did until we get the updated modem and corresponding software the handoffs between the two will be awful like they are now, and even if you change band priority b25 always seems to take over eventually regardless of the other bands strength.
I can't wait for the update.

Been waiting since i first got this phone. Don't see it ever coming to the DC area. Since data and voice service is so horrible here, we may be getting close to the transition.

Expect a new radio.. This will be the brains behind the band switching but I wouldn't be surprised if there are also elements within the rom that will help with spark too.
So yes at least flash the new radio with your custom ROM and see if there is any changes if not wait till your custom ROM of choice updates to 4.4.3 which won't take long lol
A prl and profile can only really enable the bands but a new radio needs to be in place to help with the handoffs

MrObvious, where about are you getting Band 26 in Wichita? I'll be there this weekend and want to track some GCI/PCI
Wish the n5 supported 2600mhz LTE

It does. Some people have reported band 41. The towers love to put out 26 (probably because it's lower frequency) and man is it strong! I haven't seen band 41 yet but would love to see a Speedtest on it. Some have reported on s4gru and I think HoFo.
I've gotten plenty of Band41 LTE on my Nexus 5 on the .15 radio. Here is my best speedtest so far:
Pixel 2 owner here, and one of the things the P2 lacked was the ability to enable WiFi calling.
My house is unfortunately a deadspot for my carrier, however they all support WiFi calling where it uses my WiFi to provide me with my network access
Does anyone know off the pixel 4 supports this?

Pixel 2 has wifi calling. I had no issues with tmobile
Oh ok. Must just be my carrier that doesn't support it for the pixel 2(Three)
WiFi Calling works on FI with my 2X. I too rely on it when I I'm home.

Did you buy them from Three?
Out of interest, if you went on Three via contract, what deal did they give you?

I buy my phone's outright from Google play store and sell my old devices on eBay. One year I bought a pixel from CPW but they are annoying with the warranty process, so went back to Google.
I also have a sim only deal on three, right now I'm on the unlimited data/texts/calls plan for 24 months. £10 first 6 months and £20 last 18 months of the contract. It averages out to £17.50 a month. Before this I was just on a rolling monthly for £23 a month everything unlimited.

Hmm, i think because 3 never actually sold the 2, they dont support WiFi calling on it. They sold the 3 and 4, hence why its supported

Well I use Total Wireless that's on Verizon's network and I can't find anywhere to turn on Wifi-Calling.

For both the Pixel 3XL (since release) and now the 4 XL, wifi calling has worked without any issues.
