I have an unlocked XL on T-Mobile and I still haven't gotten the update. It looks like some carriers in Canada, AT&T, and Sprint have pushed out the update.
Anyone on Verizon or TMobile get it yet?
Weird that my old Pixel 2 XL my Wife uses got the update last night, and my Pixel 3 XL, just sitting around the house as a backup phone also got the update. But my Pixel 4 XL doesn't have it.
These are all Google bought Pixel's, that are running on T-Mobile.

Yeah, I have an old 2 XL that I just use on WiFi that got the update yesterday. Looks like T-Mo is holding it up.
I'm on AT&T and haven't gotten it either. How do we know which of the 3 versions of the OTA image is the right one? I have an unlocked 4XL purchased from Google.
I have am unlocked pixel 4 xl purchased from Google. Verizon is my carrier and I also do not have the update.

No update on Google Fi.
It's strange that others are getting it before users on Google's own phone service.

I have noticed that October's .C4 build has a newer build date than the .014 November build (I'm on Fi so that's the build I want), so that has been preventing me from sideloading and is presumably why I have been under to pull the OTA on my phone as well.
It wasn't coming for me on Fi, I flashed factory image.
Im a little annoyed that my Google store unlocked pixel 4 XL doesn't have the update yet, but carrier devices already do. On my previous pixels I always got them right away.
Me neither. FI 4XL128GB USA

Weird - I thought I was the only one. If I can't get it tonight, I may just break down and side-load it. Very annoying

Still nothing here.
Got it on the same day on my Pixel 3 and Pixel 4xl... I also have a Pixel 2 xl but didn't try to update it yet. On Bell in Canada

My Pixel 2 XL got the update on Monday. Didn't even have to tap check update. My unlock Pixel 4 XL on Sprint didn't get it so I sideloaded the OTA.

Same here at 8:12AM Eastern
I manually checked in settings and got the update yesterday at ~4:30 PM EST, for what it's worth. Locked down Verizon P4XL.
Google bought Pixel 4 XL here and no update yet, (just checked)
Anyone know how to flash the new update through a Chrome Book or Pixel Slate?

Does anyone know if an AT&T or carrier device will get software updates directly from google like iPhone gets from Apple? I have heard both scenarios as it will come direct from Google and heard the carriers release. Not sure which is true?
That is the point of the pixel line.
Normal updates will come from Google. This includes the monthly security updates and Android OS updates.

I understand and hope this is correct. I read somewhere that AT&T said Google releases updates and in same thread someone said Google told them they come from the carrier.
From the way I understand it, the Android platform (and a point of advertising for the Pixel product) now is supposed to be structured in such a way that updates can come directly from Google. It will be interesting to see whether the phones purchased directly from Google get the updates faster than those from the carriers.
I've just upgraded from a Pixel 2 to a 4 XL. I purchased the 2 from Best Buy, and the 4 XL directly from Verizon. Both came with Verizon SIM cards.
The 2 received updates the same day they were released from Google.

Ok so I was bored at work today and for S&G's I did an online chat with Google. The rep told me that carrier devices will get the updates from the carrier in batches and after they modify the update (whatever he meant by that). He did also confirm that unlocked devices bought from the Google store or somewhere like Best Buy will get them direct from Google.
I only bought from a carrier to get the rebates and bill credits. However, hoping they dont screw up google's native software with their "modifications".
I got my pixel 4xl from at&t yesterday and had a system update waiting for me already. I'm guessing the October security update. I'm doubting it came from at&t but I'm just guessing

This is why I always buy from Google. Those credits and carrier tinkering (a.k.a. "software update delay generator") are not worth a few dollars to me. If I was willing to accept carrier tinkering then I might as well just buy a Samsung.
PS - I'm not picking on you, your just post brings up a very good point about where to buy a device and why.
I don't know why the Pixel update will be from the carriers and not Google.
The main reason you get Pixel is fast update from Google

Because carriers optimize the device for their network. Google doesn't do the optimizations for them.

Lol no offense taken. I got $700 in bill credits so it was almost a wash for me. That's the only reason I went to at&t. But when next year's model comes out I won't be a new customer getting any benefit so Google store I'll go lol.

I also just got my update and im in the UK
Updated mine last night by hitting to check system update button. I bought my 4XL from T-Mobile
I bought Pixel 4XL on Verizon, after 60 days device got unlocked... It is now working on Phisical SIM and when i am trying to install non Verizon eSIM phone locks it network again to verizon
Any success yet? I am looking to do exactly this once my 60 days is up in a few weeks on my Verizon 4 XL. Disappointed to learn it might not be possible after all.
Hey I am thinking about purchasing a Verizon Pixel 4 XL marked as "Verizon", will it work properly on T-Mobile? Also as long as the device is paid off can I simply call Verizon and have them "Unlock" the device for me and I can plug in my T-Mobile SIM card?
Thanks
Of you do not have a Verizon account they will not unlock it for you. Be sure it's fully unlocked before buying.

Oh and it will work without any issues on T-Mobile. I've used a Verizon 2XL and 3XL Cricket Wireless and Mint (T-Mobile MNVO) with VOLTE and Wifi calling.

I didn't think Verizon could have SIM locked phones. Has that changed?

Verizon locks their phones temporarily now like TMobile for 60 days after activation.

So hypothetically if I buy a used P4XL on Verizon and I want it to work on TMO it had to be used by the previous owner for 60 consecutive days for me to be able to get it unlocked by Verizon?
When will we get the December security update, Samsung got thirs before us
google drop it on the first monday of every month unless it's a public holiday in the US i.e. september (labor day) which is then a tuesday (i.e. when android 10 last year and 11 this year dropped)
Usually 2/3pm eastern (7/8pm UTC)
Thanx
Its available now at https://developers.google.com/android/ota
Once again Verizon update delayed a week until the 14th.
Just got December security update
For clarification because my unlocked 3XL OTAs never had separate carrier updates like this: the Verizon update is for ALL phones (unlocked and VZ locked) on the Verizon network?
If so, does this have to do with the mmwave 5G network configuration?
Locked AT&T Pixel 5 - installing now.

This is ridiculous. On my unlocked Pixel 2 XL i never had to wait on vzw. I always got updates the same time all other pixels go them.

Same, but what makes you think its carrier dependent? Visible phones are the same as ones sold by Google and/or Bestbuy as unlocked. I am thinking to download the "RQ1A.201205.011" from Google and ADB-sideload it via recovery, but kinda waiting to see if nobody has just done this and had nasty consequences, such as data wipe, bootloops, etc. I am not eager to hard-reset.
So I updated to the december security patch and after I flashed my magisk patched boot.img the battery icon in the status bar is acting weird. It looks empty with no white in the middle, anyone else getting this?
EDIT: NEVERMIND, found out the issue was my 9 tiles magisk module, after removing the battery icon was back to normal.

I got the OTA update yesterday.
You can follow the Release of OTA Updates here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/stock-ota-updates-changelogs-07-12-2020.4185209/
I Update the thread/OP only after the Update is available usually within an hour after Google published it
I'm a bit confused by the various carrier flavors of OTA -- I purchased my (unlocked) pixel 5 from the google store but I use ATT for carrier service.
Will flashing the ATT flavor lock my device in some capacity? Or is that just for radio?
Thank you!!

Good question, i'd usually assume ROM doesn't affect SIM lock in any way or form, but i'd be reluctant to flash an update that contains a carrier junk in it, and possibly a locked bootloader i may end up being unable to reflash again.
I really don't think the ROM you flash should depend on the carrier you are currently on, and i wouldn't flash a carrier-customized one.
Why would you want to flash the ATT version on it?
I have the VZW version and it sucks they aren't releasing the update till next week. What is in the build that's different from the non-vzw versions? Hate vzw but the black friday deal was too good to pass up.
Anybody knows anything about any fixes and functional changes besides the feature drop? Each month, Google lists the Pixel specific fixes like this:
Google Android Pixel Security Update - November 2020 - Google Pixel Community
support.google.com
This month, the accoring page just talks about "several fixes and improvements across many areas including performance, stability, battery, and more":
Google Android Pixel Security Update - December 2020 - Google Pixel Community
support.google.com
I am really interested in knowing wether the infamous "GPay payments fail" issue was fixed for the P5.

The one that's coming on 14.12.2020. Verizon builds are always a week behind.
I have an unlocked Google Store Pixel 5 that I am using on Verizon.
I currently have the phone rooted with Magisk running October RD1A.200810.022.A4 .
When updating to the latest, should I pick the December All Carriers release or the November Verizon release?
I am thinking that I should flash December RQ1A.201205.011 rather than the Verizon version, but advice is appreciated.
(Apologies if this is already answered, I searched and read several pages of posts without a clear answer.)

Personally I'd flash the November Verizon update and wait until next week to flash the December one. I'm not sure what Verizon is doing but since it's only a week away why not wait.
I'm using an unlocked on xfinity Mobile (Verizon mvno) I used the all carriers one. I'd only use the Verizon one for the Verizon model. Not sure but I'd definitely not want to end up with my bootloader permanently locked which as far as I know is the only difference with the Verizon variation of the phone
Yeah, that's why I asked the question. I am wondering if there might be some mmWave related differences as well. On my OG Pixel XL, I had the Verizon version that was bootloader unlocked using one of the hacks. I switched around between both factory variants and never noticed any difference.
To be "safe" I did upgrade my Pixel 5 to the All Carriers December version yesterday. I'm getting Verizon Sub-6 5G, VoLTE, WiFi Calling and all that jazz. I don't have access to mmWave so no way to test that.
So far I am not having any problems that I could blame on the build.

Have you been able to confirm that WiFi Calling actually works through Verizon? This is the one option I couldn't ever get working on my past unlocked phones. Seems that Verizon always said that it MUST be the Verizon branded for that option to work.
