Do you use the gesture navigation or the button navigation as I don't see the issue with the button navigation
What are the home button settings you have for Nova ?
Any battery optimization setting you have for Nova , Animation speed or disable

I use the gesture navigation. I do not have any widgets in my homescreen (tried removing those?)
Note that Nova battery says Always ask, but when i click on it it says don't optimise (my actual choice)
Thank you
I have contacted Nova launcher about this and I was shocked by the response below :
Thank you for contacting Nova Launcher support. Below is a lot of information that we encourage you to read completely as it will answer your questions or other questions you might have related to the full system gestures in Android 10, Android 11, Android 12 and for the foreseeable future.
It doesn't matter what 3rd party launcher or version of any 3rd party launcher you use, it matters what your system/OEM does. If your system doesn't allow gesture navigation to work with 3rd party launchers, then no version of Nova will change that in any way. If it works inconsistently with 3rd party launchers, no version of Nova will change that either.
A great source of information can be found via this article https://www.xda-developers.com/third-party-launchers-animation-pixel-phones/. by Mishaal Rahman with input from Kevin Barry, the developer of Nova Launcher: Here's why Nova Launcher works better on Google Pixel phones (xda-developers.com)
Notable issues with gestures on third party launchers include, but not limited to:
• Close all/Clear app button not appearing(scroll all the way to verify it's not there)
• Not being able to tap icons for a short time after returning to the home screen
• Animations not being as fluid as expected
• Home screen icons flashing
• Home screen redraws
Please understand, there is absolutely nothing Nova can do to fix or change this in any way! Contact Google or your device OEM directly with these issues as Nova has absolutely no control over it whatsoever.
NOTE: These are system gestures only and are not related to Nova's personal gestures that you will find via Nova Settings -> Gestures & Inputs.
Use 3-Button Navigation
If you wish to avoid all of the above issues or any others that you might experience while using system gestures, we strongly urge and suggest that you use 3-button navigation that Android has had for years and that simply works. It allows you to use your favorite apps, especially any 3rd party launcher such as Nova, without issues like system gestures provide. Google has no plans to our knowledge to get rid of 3-button navigation in any way which means you can use your device like you have in the past without having to worry about the issues that system gestures provide.
As stated before, full system gestures are completely controlled by Android and are not something a launcher can just suddenly add support for or change in any way. When using gestures with Action Launcher, you'll quickly notice that the experience has just as many issues as it does with Nova or any other 3rd party launcher, reiterating the point that it is not something that any third party launcher can

It's not the best but it's ok to use for a few hours. Try ADW Launcher... now that's a nice piece of work!
LauncherPRO... if only it were more like Home++ - in SOME ways!
Greetings.
I, too, enjoy the SPEED of this app, over and above most else. Over the past 6 months, I have sampled most of the major app launcher programs on the market - both free ans well as paid, and this is hands down the fastest/smoothest around.
Now, if only it had the FEATURES that Home++ has, as THAT program/app ALREADY HAS such great features as a task bar icons that can not only be slid back and forth - horizontally, but you can pick and choose which ones you want to use/show. Furthermore,if you are in the "app library", and decide to remove one, when you hold down the icon - you get a prompt to remove it. A similar option is featured, when you are running an app, and just want to close it/turn it off, you simply hold down the lower left "return" button... and it closes, freeing up system memory. There are MANY more features in this home launcher, too.
I know, you're saying, "Well - if Home++ is 'all that' - why not just use it?" I would - if it wasn't so dang slow - for example, when I select to use the dial pad, it takes nearly 15 to 22 seconds to appear on the screen; really. After all, this IS a PHONE...! What's more, Home++ seems to be FC'ing nearly ALL the time, forcing home launch restarting... on my outta-the-box, non-rooted Motorola DROID... running version 2.1.1 I truly like Home++, but the developer of same hasn't done anything with it for well over a month, nor has he or she been receptive to any emails. So, it looks like our LauncherPRO may be the next Holy Grail of apps - if it can incorporate the features that made Home++ so popular!
I'll be MOST eager to see what is next...!
cant find it in the market
I was getting annoyed with being in an app and pressing home and constantly getting the "sense" previews. So i disabled pressing home-button to bring up previews in the app. If any of u share my issues, heres the fixed launcher.

Wait... a 'fixed' launcher..? There's a setting to change the home button action to navigate to the default home screen instead of opening sense.
Pretty nifty, but I must mention Zeam
I actually spotted it after being left unsatisfied with launcher pro.
It's pretty unique compared to most, very slick and speedy. Give it a shot, it's free

Yea even with tht option, anytime id press home, it would take me to my homescreen but the previews would still popup. A couple of other ppl had the same issues so i just removed the binding of home button to bring up sense previews from his code.
ADW is the bomb
You can choose what you want the home key to do in ADW. I've only donated to a few developers. Anderweb is definitely high on my list.
Also, I couldn't resist

You can't modify shortcuts (any shortcut at all, not just LauncherPro) on Eclair.
As far as I know, this is impossible.

but the dock that LP comes with has phone, contacts, etc. You can remove those, unless I am miss understanding the op.
Yes you can...
On Eclair, you cannot alter the Launcher Pro icons from your Nook device. However, you can set up your Launcher Pro homescreen (icons, widgets, or whatever) on another android device and copy it over to your Nook. Refer to this thread for the exact procedure.
I have done this myself, and it works perfectly.
Note: If you only want the app drawer icon you can do that with the above method. But if you want you can set up other icons that actually work in addition to the app drawer icon. As long as you have the same apps on your Nook, the icons from your other android device will open the same apps on your Nook when you copy over the homescreen.
Just switch to zeam launcher. Seems to work much better than launcher pro and adw, imho.

Zeam pales in comparison to Launcher Pro when you take into account the widgets.
There are absolutely no Facebook, Twitter, and Calendar widgets on the Android Market that work as well and look as good as the Launcher Pro widgets do.
Also, they scroll, which no other FB/Twitter/Calendar widget can do.
If you know of apps/widgets that do, please let me know. But I have yet to find a single replacement for all three of these that even come close in terms of functionality/look.
For another datapoint... you can set dock shortcuts and swipe gesture shortcuts with Go Launcher.
I couldn't get any other launcher to switch shortcuts on the dock (I haven't re-tried Zeam though).
I recently discovered the best launcher for Android: Nemus Launcher. I didn't develop this launcher, I am just attempting to spread the word about this wonderful lightweight launcher.
- It is as fast as Zeam and as smooth as 360 Launcher in my opinion, but it offers 9 homescreens, scrollable widget support, and resizable widgets.
- It seems to get updated pretty often, but there isn't much info on the dev's site linked in the market.
- Its made by the same dev as Regina launcher (NemusTech, I think they are Korean).
I will keep this topic update as soon as nemus is updated

This launcher is really cool. It has only one problem: there is too much space between the statusbar and the icons. Apart from this, it is one of the best launchers yet.
Yea, i'm using this launcher too and i like it.
for me it's ok that space ...
Nemus (in theory) has a nice function that Zeam was lacking - the ability to sort apps in the drawer. Too bad that it is bugged and can't remember what kind of sort option I chose cause after several drawer openings it all goes back to alphabetic order anyway :/.
Tried this today, it's really quick and I like it a lot but there is no option to change the icons for the dock , might not seem like much but it's a deal breaker for me, also there's no ICS style theme that I can find.
If they add this I'll jump from Go Launcher because it's the only issue I could find.
I find no themes for this...but am using this its a great option to Sony Ericsson launcher...
it is the best launcher. i am using this too. thnx
this is a good launcher indeed, I've been using it for almost a week now...
it does feel fast, and has some features I find very usefull [like uninstalling apps directly from app drawer] and I really like what you can do with the folders [renaming, changing folder color, resize, etc]...
but when you say "low memory usage" what do you mean?? cause if you open settings>apps>running services nemus launcher is over 35mb, when zeam launcher is like 17mb and go launcher is like 10mb...
i think most of Nemus Launcher is ok,but it moves too slow
IMO nemus is the best launcher. Very smooth.
Great launcher..smooth and lighter
great launcher
very fluid and beautiful!
I'm using Nemus for a long time. I really like that i can place my apps (in AllApps) on pages in the way i want (as in stock launcher). I mean, i can place games in on one page, some tools on another and all places don't have to be full, there can be free spaces. It's nice
as to performance, question for people who use nemus:
can you see big difference in animations (fps) after turning on high-quality image?
for my OB with Zeus, anims are not so smooth in hq.
With high-quality image off, everything is ok.
the best launcher for android till now, i tried, shelll 3d,launcher pro,go launcher, but i liked it very much, very smooth 10/10
Indeed, the best launcher till now
so far i was on launcher pro plus.
great launcher and the facebook en tweeter widgets are realy good!
i tried nemus now and indeed realy good launcher.. i'm glad i found Android pro widgets, facebook and tweeter are almost the same as LPP widgets and i didn't want to loose them..
so now i can use nemus together with my favorite facebook/twitter widgets.
For the longest time, I've had the nav bar hidden and simply swiped up to do the various things on it, but after seeing how simple the iPhone X's gestures are, I really became interested in similar gestures on Android.
On the 3T that I have now, obviously it wouldn't make sense, but when the Note 8 finally arrives, I would love to be able to swipe up to go home, or up and right for the recents, and then some other gesture to go back (maybe a swipe right, or force touch the home button?)
With the Note 8's force touch home button, I really don't think there's a need to actually see a nav bar.
Any suggestions or thoughts?
Ever heard of meizu. Been doing this for years.
Should be possible

I also agree, Nova Launcher
a few options.
i also use Nova Prime launcher for certain
gestures, but you can only use these gestures
when on desktop pages of Nova and not eg in an App or settings of device.
Then also Bixby voice,
can do quite a few of these commands. Actually for me, using short voice commands is just as good as a gesture.
Go back, Go Homescreen, Take screenshot, Open
Settings
So i combine a few of Nova Prime gestures with Bixby voice.
Nova Prime eg. Double tap... to sleep
One swipe down..... show quick settings, notifications.
Pinch out..... Recent app
(If you on desktop / Homepages)
In an 3rd party app or setting i use Bixby. commands.
eg... turn screen off.
Show.....
Notification /quick settings. /recent apps
Go Hompage....
... take screenshot.

That's iPhone for You, Simple
Always assume anything an iPhone releases as new it's been possible for Android years before hand.
That's always the case!
This not fully gesture based but I use LMT. Swipe from left side or right side to expose LMT and I have setup button for back, home, recent apps, and drop notifications. There are other commands you can add.

How to Use Gestures on iPhone X without Home Button
I was searching on Google and got useful solution, How to Use Gestures on iPhone X without Home Button: howtoisolve.com/use-gestures-on-iphone-x/

the possibilities...
its almost frightening!
What I use is LMT and Nav bar remover. With LMT I set up ISAS to go home when swiping up in the middle, go to recent when swiping up from the right and back when swiping up from the left hand side.
all in one gesture does the work too

That application will allow you to achieve
That. Remember to hide the navigation bar of course by any app.

You can use the twisted app from app store to use other launchers. I heard in the next update they will fix this and allow custom launchers.

Hi, my ROM is Chinese version. It's not allowed to set default launcher.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/FJxi7Bm7ELx4nfyR6
I'm using Nova Launcher as of this moment..
3rd party launcher only with global version, for any mate 20.
My phone just came in from Shanghai and I can use nova with the latest updates.
Does using a 3rd party launcher impact battery life negatively on the Mate 20?
Sent from my HMA-L29 using Tapatalk
Using Nova Launcher on my Mate 20 without any problem.
I'm able to set default launcher to Nova in settings. (Apps > Default Apps > Launcher)
I just managed to lock myself out of the Nova launcher
I was trying to mess around with a recent apps feature I couldn't figure out (btw, pull the app down to pin it, does the opposite of pulling it up). I ran into a bug where no recent apps were being shown. I tried to switch back to Huawei home launcher and now I cannot switch back to nova launcher. There was a dialogue box that I dismissed warning me that I would not be able to switch back.
I think this lock happened in an update. Nova was the first thing I downloaded before updating the system and now I run into this problem
I installed HiSuite for ADB and using this guide I was able to force uninstall the stock launcher, which forced my phone to use Nova
The guide I used:
https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-honor-chinese-emui-9-blocks-third-party-launchers/
TLDR: adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.android.launcher
Interestingly it seems a side effect is that the recent apps also changed to use nova's system. That might have fixed the bug I came across earlier...
I read somewhere the Chinese versions don't allow 3rd party launchers.
