ok so i kinda f'ed up my phone..
the specs are
IPL:1.08
SPL:1.08
OS:1.8.11.1
and i decided to flash the radio rom 2.47.11 and now it freezes when i try to enter in my password at start up..i read that what i need to do is get it into bootloader and flash a 2.x rom on it but when i try to pres the reset button and the 2 buttons on the right side it just normally starts up..also how would i upgrade to a 2.x rom..or is there any way to downgrade back to the stock radio rom? also my phone is unlocked
thanks
keith
edit:
could i downlod the RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship.exe rom and flash that onto my phone and have it work...still cant figure out how to get the bootloader screen to come up
yes after doing some more reading i realized i had to hold down the camera button and the start button until the bootloader came up..then i just pluged it in and ran the radio rom of 1.x and it worked yea!! mbe later i will try to upgrade the rom lol
CID unlock it while it is still working with your current ROM
IPL:1.08
SPL:1.08
OS:1.8.11.1
Then stick Molskis G3 ROM on it and you will be sorted.

for more info.
woudl i be able to go to htc.com and upgrade do the rom upgrade there without havin to cid unlock?
Yes, you can upgrade a Cing 8125 with the officially released Rom (as posted on HTC's Website) without CID unlocking your device.
i do not need to upgrade the IPL/SPL first since i have 1.08?

Official Rom Updates include the IPL/SPL. If you download and flash the Cingular 2.25 Rom you will have IPL/SPL 2.25 after the flash.
is that good or would i want to cid unlock my phone first?

Keith,
If you plan to install cooked Roms then you should CID unlock your phone. Technically CID Unlocking voids your warranty (though I had no problems getting warranty exchange on two previous phones that were CID unlocked).
The main reason to CID Unlock is that you can then install most (generally all) Roms that exist for your device. The only exception would be a G4 only Rom (which has the G4 IPL/SPL only) as your phone is a G3.
If you don't CID unlock then you can't install non-cingular Roms that include IPL/SPL so basically you would have to cook your own Rom if T-Mobile released an OS update that you wanted to use.
I would suggest you do some more reading before you CID unlock or flash anything else to your device.
ok bro thanks for the detailed explanation. I will.def do a lot more reading before I flash my phone or cid unlock it..this is a great forum full of useful information

Just after I got my 8125 I upgraded the ROM to 2.25. I didn't unlock anything. Its running fine. Now I'm interested to try a different ROM. I understand I will need to CID unlock my device. Here is where I'm confused, if it is possible or not after upgrading to 2.25? Can I follow the steps to downgrade my ROM and unlock the CID?
I have searched and been reading alot but I'm still a bit confused, so please be gentle as I ask for some guidance. I have experience modifying Motorola phones, but am new to PocketPC. Any help is appreciated.
Good if you can provide info on how you upgraded your unit (e.g. with the providers official ROM or with the software and ROMS in this forum, etc)
And how you intended to down grade your ROM? You also mentioned the 'steps' to follow, of which steps are you refering to?
And, why do you want to have your phone CID unlocked? CID lock will not bug most people unless they are going for a ROM flashing. CID lock is different from `phone lock` or `SIM lock`.
Just incase you are wonder, what is CID, ... don't ask me. I have no idea at all Seriously.
I upgraded a stock 8125 (G3) to the Cingular 2.25 official ROM. I would like to install a summiter or mr. clean custom ROM. Searching through the messages here I'm unable to determine for certain if I'm able to CID unlock from 2.25 on my own (for free), but I get the impression I cannot. I just want to know for sure before attempting anything further.
I won't need step-by-step instruction...just need to know what my options are at this point.
Last nite I tried to install the summiter ROM without the bootloader. And the install went fine and completed 100% without error. But after the reboot I found the flash didn't hold, it was basically like a hard reset.
First download and install the Cingular 1.8 Rom
If that works fine then you should be able to CID unlock.
If not then try downloading and installing the "Button 1.05" Rom.
If either of these dowgrades worked for you, searck for LokiWiz (use ver 0.2 for CID unlock) and follwo the instructions.
Next if you want to SIM Unlock find LokWiz MSL 0.3 as it does a better SIM unlock than the older LokiWiz. Again follow the instructions.
Now you should be good..
Sorry if I wasn't clear, but its the downgrading I am concerned about. I'm not certain if it is possible to downgrade (including bootloader) from 2.25 without the device being CID unlocked..?

Yeah, that much I do understand. I definately want to avoid paying to unlock.
Thanks for your help! I'll let you know how it goes.
Success! SIM/CID unlocked.

SPL 2.24

Thanks kyphur, for taking a moment to point a noob down the right path.
Hello!
Just installed the latest Xelencin's ROM ( http://xelencin.shackspace.com/wizard/index.html ) that has a built in CID UnLocking mechanism. My question is if I want to try and install Molski's ROM, will it install or not? Or I have to apply CID UnLock procedure everytime when I install a ROM?
As long as you don't go back to a 1.x ROM, you can flash and reflash to your heart's content... But its good to go back to a stable ROM (like the T-Mobile 2.26 Ship) just to have a stable base for the new ROM to work off of (or thats my understanding ). If you do go back down to a 1.x ROM for some reason, then you do need to do the CID unlock procedure again (including loading a good 2.x ROM at the end so you have IPL and SPL at 2.x).
Thanks for your quick reply. I asked this question since I want to compare Faria, Xelencin, and Molski ROM's and see which one is the best and fastest and in which one does the video recording does not do any flickering.
OK one more time. I don't need to CID UnLock anymore as long as I stay on 2.xx ROM. So if I go back to the T-Mobile Original ROM, it will not remove the CID UnLocking right?

Correct. MFRAZZZ had a great point, it is generally a good idea to flash the official TMobile between ROM trials, for some reason the MDA seems happier and the phone doesn't seem to develop a "hangover". Also, when you flash, let the phone sit a few minutes before you start poking around, again they seem happier when they get a chance to rest a little bit. Urban legend? Maybe. Fewer problems? Definately.

Thanks for your answer. Understand what to do now.

read the Sticky for the definitive guide to CID unlocking and upgrading G3 wizards.
If you follow every step in that tutorial you will:
a. have a CID unlocked wizard capable of being flashed with any wizard rom, custom or otherwise
b. you will KNOW that you device is CID unlocked because you did it yourself
c. ROM's will actually flash because your CID is unlocked.
NOTE: you currently have a 1.08 bootloader. You cannot flash a 2.xx custom rom until you upgrade your bootloader to 2.xx. The easiest way of doing this is flashing the much promoted T-Mobile 2.26 rom. Of course if you follow all the steps in the unlocking tutorial you will end up with IPL/SPL 2.26 and be CID unlocked.
ok, thank you
it says that it voids the warrenty
But i thought it was a made-by-tmobile download?
And can't i just reboot it to the original version i have right now if there are any problems or anything? Will the notice? is it possible?

If you want WM6 you will be voiding your warranty as you won't be able to flash it unless you are CID unlocked.
There currently is not and most likely NEVER will be an official WM6 carrier rom for the Wizard.
If all you want is the latest carrier rom from your carrier then all you have to do is go to their website and download it and follow the instructions. You won't have to worry about CID or warranty voiding.
As for them noticing, maybe, maybe not. It really depends on who you talk to. If you stay with roms only made and released from your carrier you won't have anything to worry about as you can flash them without doing anything that will void your warranty.
hi...
i am a little noob when it comes to rom upgrading. so, i apologise if this is a stupid question. i flashed my wizard with wizard love rom. the ipl and spl both show 1.01 and os 2.26.10.2..but, no gsm.also, my phone doesn't catch signals.now, if i need to flash a radio rom, which radio rom should i flash, and is there any risk of bricking my device ??
thanks..
puja
There's very little risk (I'm definitely not going to say there's none because you always take some risk when flashing) with flashing a radio ROM. I kind of curious though, most people only flash the wizard love ROM so they can CID unlock before going on to flashing other ROM's such as a WM6 version. Are you planning on keeping the wizard love ROM as your OS? Which radio ROM you decide to flash kind of depends on where are and what ROM you're using. 2.19.11 seems to be the most popular one to flash though. Check the wizard wiki if you need to download it.
Basically flasing Radio ROM will not brick the device, and it also does not require CID unlocking.
Beside 2.19.11, 2.47.11 and 2.69.11 Radio ROM are also popular.
If you have unlocked your device after downgrading IPL and SPL, just get a 3.08 IPL/SPL upgrade package and you will get all IPL/SPL/Radio ROM upgraded to the most current version.
p.s. You now have IPL/SPL 1.01 that is too old and should be upgraded (Instead you MUST upgrade to at least 2.xx if you plan to use WM6)
i was earlier having ipl n spl 2.xx..but i wanted to unlock my device.so, i downgraded to button's 1.05 rom..but i couldn't unlock it (See my post in the topic 'The Definitive Guide to Unlocking & Rom Upgrading G3 Wizards'), after which i decided to simply flash the love rom...
What by mean of "couldn't unlock"?
What error is shown from lokiwiz/aWizard?
p.s. Unlocking require ActiveSync connection

Search for and download wizard service tool. It has a button on it that you can press and it will tell you if you're unlocked or not.
I'll save you the searching since about 10 seconds after I wrote that last post I saw the wizard service tool thread. It's here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295038

hmmm
its 2.25. I think the rom they put on there is just a new rom from htc maybe. Instead of a repair of a broken screen they sent a whole new 8125 so it must be a g3 huh?

It should work and then you can continue with the CID unlock.

no you want to extract the zip/rar file to its own folder and then just run the RUU.exe file. It will do everything else for you.
Once you flash it, update me with your results.

Its the newest version of lokiwiz that should work on a 2.xx SPL and you shouldn't have to downgrade.
Once you run lokiwiz, then use Wizard Service tools to read the CID and make sure it is unlocked.

WAIT! Your IPL was changed to 1.05? If it is, your ready to use lokiwiz. The SPL does not change with that rom because the rom isn't CID unlocked yet. LOL.
Go ahead and run lokiwiz and then use the wizard service tool from my last post to read the CID and make sure it is CID unlocked.
Update me with your results and I will help you with the whole process. I've been through it before so I know what needs to be done.
ipl-1.05
spl-2.25
i dont get why both those roms are 1.05
are you sure the spl is not supposed to be changed because ive had the WST and it tells me to downgrade SPL to CID unlock.
lokiwiz 0.3 a says WITHOUT cid unlock
Well what I am trying to do is upgrade to a WM6 Rom and you have to have a spl of 1.x to do this am I correct? and also it needs to be CID unlocked, which lokiwiz 0.3a does not do... am i stuck or what

Ok I see that you are confused.(No big deal TRUST ME...) I previously had a G4 and always used shelltools to flash roms and had no Idea what I was doing when I dove into this CID unlocking thing but here is step by step what you need to do.
1. Download button rom and flash to device and you will see IPL 1.05 and SPL of 2.25
2. Connect to device but do not sync. Just cancel when connecting and connect as guest.
3. Run Lokiwiz and first press U. This will SIM unlock your device and your device will soft-reset itself.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 only now press C instead of U. Lokiwiz will now CID unlock your device and it will soft-reset itself.
5. This time when activesync tries to connect to your device, syncronize it with your PC.
6. Install and run WST and and under CID options, click read CID. It will tell you in plain english if your device is still locked or CID unlocked.
7. If it tells you your device is CID unlocked, proceed to step 8, if not repeat steps 1-6.
8. If your device was successfully CID unlocked, download T-Mobile Official WM5 rom and flash it to your device. You will now have a strong 2.26 IPL/SPL.
9. Allow customization to finish and then the device will soft-reset itself.
10. Now flash the 3.08 IPL/SPL to your device for faster boot time.
Now your finished. Your device is now CID unlocked and has a strong IPL/SPL as a base to flash any WM6 rom you please.
Once you have done this, post results here so if it did not work, I can try to help you figure out what went wrong.
