Fantastic automobile tech - Electromagnetic suspension - Off-topic

I didn't think too much about this tech till I watched the video. Near the end of the video, you will see what I mean. Something the Knight Rider would gush at.
The video is toward the bottom of the page and is the Bose suspension video

Hahaha...same here. The local gov deliberately lets the roads go to hell to beef up the local auto repair businesses...lol That means they are generally rough to the point of swallowing a whole car in some extreme cases.
I wonder if that suspension tech would be able to leap over such holes...LOL

Haha.
It will certainly make drink driving a lot easier.....cup of coffee I mean, of course
Less spillage

Magnets. How do they work?

Fantasically! According to that demonstration...hehe. This is pretty much a more advanced version of an active suspension system where the struts are electrically controlled. It's actually basically rather simple in design, but the complexity comes from integrating electronics and all the associated hardware...like a CPU and all the sophisticated software and algorithms. Apparently the demonstrated system is using some kind of distance detection system...maybe infrared, radar or laser based...because the car actually jumps up like a horse before getting to the obstacle. Either that or it is a well created photoshop video where a ramp was made to look like a wall.

How did the car like jump on the last bit? :confused;

Surprisingly;
1. You answered the trolls number 1 troll question.
2. You answered the question wrong. The question was how do magnets work, not the concept we see above.

What a mystery.
Um, if it really has no central nervous system, then how does it actively move itself around at 4 knots?
Box jellyfish have 24 eyes, four parallel brain clusters and 60 anal regions.

why is the only phone with retina display the iphone?

how come only iphone has it...? it is the main reason why everybody loves it...
Basically it's a sharp display. Iphone makes it, really not too much better than say Super Amoled.
Super Amoled blows the Retina Display out of the water imo.

Having tried both i would say the Super amoled is the better screen
because it made their job easier to upscale their apps 2x to keep em compatible
1.5x upscale would of been blurry and cpu intensive , they really didnt have a choice
after realizing this , they wrapped it in their good ol' magical marketing concept which is about persuading you to believe that apple products are made by not engineers , but wizzards

It's not
Google up Sharp IS03
The so-called "Retina Display" is just a damned buzzword. It's basically a hi-res screen which is, as previously stated, inferior to S-AMOLED.

Besides the screen quality.. the others could increase their resolution as well. Like 480x800 they could find a new standard I think..

retina display is pretty good, but there is something super amoled that just jumps at you.
it's great.

Gear VR getting new interactive movie to put you in the action!

This looks cool. Hard to tell exactly but looks like we can get this from Milk Store (still weirdest branding ever) from Feb 27th through March 1st. I'll be curious to see if they have solved the focus issues with 360 video. If so awesome.

It was announced today that Samsung and Lionsgate Studios have teamed up to bring a virtual reality experience to Gear VR, Samsung’s virtual reality headset, the experience is meant to promote Lionsgate’s upcoming film The Divergent Series: Insurgent. The tie-in is called Insurgent – Shatter Reality and it is a four minute fully immersive experience that is going to put users in Insurgent’s world.

What we really need is a first person shooter with team play and the graphics quality of Herobound. That would be amazing. Also figure out how to stop this overheating. Tried adjusting settings using Synapse as recommended for the AEL kernel but overheating just the same. Must have wrong settings. I used those recommended for Balanced. If anyone knows the correct settings I'd appreciate it.

Hi Mitchellvi,
I've seen that you constantly talk about how badly out-of-focus the 360 videos are. Quite honestly I don't see that problem on mine. The only thing I see on some scenes of the 360 videos are a few of the image seams that conform the 360 video image, but the video is very clear and detailed to me.
I too would like to see a 1st person shooter (with multiplayer) with HeroBound kind of graphics. But I think that unless Samsung/Oculus fixes the overheating issues, it would be near impossible.
I also tweaked my CPU and GPU speeds, underclocking and undervolting without any noticeable improvements. The only thing that seems to be working is to use the Note's Power Save Mode at the cost of some minor stuttering on some games and apps. So instead of say 20 minutes of use, I can almost double the time before it prompts to let it cool down.
Cheers!

If beauty were ever in the eye of the beholder, it is with the GVR. Because of the idiosyncrasies of how each individual's eyes focus at such a close distance (something nature never intended them to do), there really is no one right answer when it comes to what people experience. However, focus on 360 videos does seem to be an issue shared by many. I envy you that it is not for you.
You begin to understand the difficulty in designing a one-size-fits-all VR device. They are forced to design for the mean and thus insure than pretty much everyone will be slightly disappointed with one thing or another. Assuming VR remains with the "lense and screen" format (and corneal projection as in the Glyph does not replace it), I see the day coming where you will go to the optometrist to get a VR prescription and order custom lenses just for you.
I'm going to stop by the store today and see if I can find a small chill-pack which would fit inside the GVR cover (perhaps attached with velcro tape). That way it would not touch the phone creating condensation issues (hopefully) and it would keep things cool for gaming.
Worth a shot.
I also have a steel wool heat sync idea I've created a thread about.

Have you tried changing governors and such?
I will try using different governors and see if that helps.

Steel wool is fail as there is not enough surface area contact to wick off heat. Chill packs succeeded but recommend fridged instead of frozen to prevent fogging.

Me, Myself & I

My name is Bernard Gill. I am a retired businessman, who has been trying to keep pace with the fast paced digital world. I am always looking to better my opportunity to participate/take advantage of the latest advancements of the digital age. I have been present and witnessed the explosion of computer technology since the late 70's (manager at Radio Shack) and internet access since the late 80's (digital dictation and voice file transfer). I don't have any special talents, but I am always interested in keeping pace in this ever-changing digital world.

Question Measure App

Someone point me towards a good measurement app (ruler) that works flawlessly on Oneplus10 pro, the one's google suggested aren't good enough
To measure what? Like a ruler? Or measure battery?

Oh it is a ruler.
Crikey, im really not sure buddy.
I think if it works well enough, then one of the AR rulers sounds amazing. If they work. I think it depends on how big the thing is you want to measure (not entirely sure where my trail of thought is heading at this point, I'll keep it clean)
For accuracy I'd say honestly any of the ruler apps.
For much larger things, cars etc, it has to be augmented reality, although I would fear the lack of a laser on the camera system would prohibit accurate defining of distance.
So personally from this knowledge I'd say any of the non AR apps.
Download a bunch and test them
