Hi,
I bought a secondhand Herald a while ago, it is 4 months and came with the original invoice. I been using it for 2 weeks and whas very happy. For me a big improvement over my Qtek 9000. I encountered a few times when opening/closing the slider that the phone goes into softreset, looks like a pover interruption. But then after using it in my car with TT6 the phone froze up, a soft reset brought back life but now it does no longer respond to the touchscreen. Advice from HTC helpdesk, do a hardreset. Hard reset done and gues what...to activate windows mobile please tap the screen...Still no response. Before the hardreset the phone whas working normally except for the touchscreen, now its a brik...
I read that other people had the same, softreset while opening/closing slider, anybody any idea? Of course It has to go in for repair under warranty, but if it turns out that the P4350 is not very reliable I will sell it.
Hmm...I just realized that I posted in the wrong Herald section... if any of the
forum guys could place it in the correct section?
Yves
Bought it 5 days ago. When the battery went dead last night, I plugged it in to charge and switched it on .It did not go past the Windows Mobile splash screen. I took the battery out as well as the sim and memory cards, to no avail. I left it plugged in overnight and got the battery fully charged (battery indicator light is now green) and the network status green light would (at least sometimes) start flashing on boot, even though the phone would not completely boot up. I CAN get it into bootloader. What I want to know is, should I go to www.htc.com and download and install an official ROM from there, or should I leave all that alone and take it back to where I got it from before I screw it up? Additionally, the phone shows up as a Dopod D810 when registered on www.htc.com, and the radio and ROM versions appear to be lower/older than what came pre-installed in the phone. Advice anyone? I am fairly new and in the process of learning all this wonderful stuff you guys have to teach.
it seems like its already been fiddled with (correct me if i'm wrong people), i would visit the HTC club site and if you can upgrade using your serial number do that, as if you look in the trinity WIKI in "Trinity" forum (Not Trinity 6 forum, here) it states there is a different way to flash the p3600i as its setup different than the standard p3600.
This is exactly what happened to my phone when the battery died (after installing FInixNOver) Is there a problem with these ROMS, or something that happens when the phone dies!... My phone was also 'sticking/frozen/crashed' on the splash screen.
I just reflashed it with a new ROM after fully charging it again.
Thanks VISTAR. And WIZZKID - your phone works perfectly now after the flashing? And do you think it's because of the stuff you installed? BTW my ROM was an official HTC ROM. I actually got called out early this morning to do a flight to the island where I bought the phone (I am a commercial pilot flying Caribbean routes) and I packed it's backside back in the box and sent it to be exchanged. I don't have the new one yet, but I am beginning to wonder if I shouldn't try something else because of this problem of sticking at the splash screen - however I only have a choice of the Kaiser and the S730 at the moment. The P3600/P3600i is among my favourite WM phones of all times, but I don't wanna have to go thru this again. What do you guys think? By the way - I only just realized that I started this post in the wrong section, so please forgive me anyone whom is not pleased by that.
iF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE OF A KAISER I WOULD GO WITH THAT, ITS THE BEST OUT THERE AT THE MOMENT..
Yeah I know but I just don't like it the way I like the P3600i and some of the others. Besides I prefer no sliding hardware keyboard. Moving parts is an issue for me as I am very fussy about wear and tear/looseness. Thanks again for your help. I am gonna move over to WIZZKID's thread on this P3600/P3600i non-starting issue since I am in the wrong section of the forum. Thanks to all those who assisted...
Got a second P3600i and it did the same thing - a hard reset fixed the problem.
Hi folks,
As the tittle tells, now and then when I close the keyboard from my herald it resets itself...Does not always happens, sometimes I cannot reproduce it, and sometimes it does it several times in a row...
This is my 2nd Herald, the 1st one did this also until the touchscreen failed. Got that one repaired under warrenty. While this one whas in repair, my wife bought me a 2nd one with a German Rom and this one has now been affected with the same bugg...?!
Its just out of warranty now...I guess I could start using the "spare" P4350 but it came out of warranty with a French keyboard and Rom, not really what I prefer...
So anybody an idea? Bad connection between the slider and the body or a problem on the mainboard?
It seems that nobody has experience with this "problem"?!
Well, for me its simple...its my last HTC phone...2 phones who have the same problem, no thanks!
If it gets worse I will give it a hard reset with a hammer, that will solve it for once and for all...
I have a tmobile wing that had the same problem. turns out that after 20 or so times in a row, I decided to figure out what was happening, that it was the battery not making good connection. and closing the keyboard would cause the battery to jar loose for a split second and loose power. I cleaned the battery and the phone terminals and mine hasn't done it since . hope this helps
I've had that problem before with other HTC devices (wizard / Tmo MDA) ... I ended up just getting an exchange.
i've also had this problem with my herald. I fixed it with this file, I think you know how to use it...
file
This file is an Rom...If this would solve the problem I prefer to flash it with an official Rom from HTC...but why would it run fine for a year if its a Rom problem?
Hi all,
I searched everywhere here but could not fnd any suitable answer...
Here's my problem:
My brand new Touch Diamond regularly shuts off, I mean it powers itself off on its own after three to four days of use, even if the battery is fully loaded...
After that, most of the times, I have to take the battery out then replace it, otherwise it won't start. Sometimes, a soft reset would do the trick.
A great lack of reliability, since you actually don't know when you phone has powered off... I let you iamgine how many missed calls I've been through...
Any suggestion, I mean except for a hard reset ? Faulty battery? WM 6.1 malfunction?
I have no running apps in the background, it is not plugged to USB or anything. It just cuts power and stays like that...
Thanks for any input,
Cheers from South of France!
I can't help you but i have the same problem sometimes. It just turns off and won't turn on by pressing the power button again. To get back to normal i also have to take out the battery!
BTW that phone is pretty buggy anyway. i really hope there is gonna be an update by htc real soon.
I seem to have the same problem. Has anyone of you found a solution or course?
I have to do a battery pull to restart the mda compact 4. It happens 10 times a day.
BTW: I have a T-Mobile MDA compact IV

Hi, Hakim Rahman,
You´re wrong. There is no solution for this problem. I´m searching almost 2 years for help. My touch diamond was in guarantee when the problem appears. I returned the phone back, but the guys from the service said, the phone have been wet, although it was always dry in my pocket...
What should I say, HTC is the worst producer of pocket PCs, that´s all.
Actually I´ve already tried another ROMs...
problem seems to be solved
I have done a HARD reset on the phone 4 days ago. It seems to be stable now.
I had a Manilla skin installed as well as a prog that used the built-in gyroscope. Perhaps those were unstable...
Now they have been erased and the phone is back into its original configuration.

I think the mistake lies in yourself the less really understand the problems on the device....
Hello to all you fine folks at xda.
I am not entirely new to your site but decided to register so I could post this thread since I am in need of your help.
I have already read hundred of threads on bricked/frozen/sod/... touch diamonds, but my situation seems to be unique.
So I have had my diamond for about 2 years now but haven't been using it for the last 6 months because of a sudden brick.
First of all you should probably know that I never tried to tamper with any soft or hardware of this phone so it may be considered a clean phone .. no romming no tweaking no installing of doubtable software etc..
When it bricked my diamond was in normal use (can't remember exactly what I was doing at the time but I think I was just texting to som1..). It suddenly went to black screen .. turned itself off.
I tried power button.. nothing
I tried red reset button at the back.. nothing
I tried power+vol down+center.. nothing
I tried charging.. nothing (not even circular light around the middle button).
I tried hooking it up to my pc.. nothing(no charging signs, not even a pop up on my pc that i connected a usb device)
I tried leaving the battery out for a while and re-inserting.. nothing
I tried a full charge overnight.. nothing
I tried slamming it into my head.. headache and nothing else..
So because all of the other threads about bricked diamonds seem to be about tampered with diamonds, I am wondering if there is a standard solution or other way that I can get my brick running smoothly again?
Hope I find tons of your answers and tips below!
Best regards and thanks in advance, Sam.
Bricked diamond
Two years is a long time for the battery life to be over. have you tried changing it?
No I haven't do they die that easily nowadays ? my other phones non pda all did much longer with their batteries..? What does a new battery cost me? thanks...
Why don't you go to a repair center or send it in for repair? You obviously didn't do anything that caused the malfunction, so why don't you give it a go.
In Europe you have a standard 24 months warranty on the device; hopefully you're in time.
Good luck
